OP IV is such beautifully happy freaking music. It’s impossible to be sad when you listen to it. I remember when I was like 15 my friends and I would go out and play this whole album while we did our skanking lol.
@@muggermercurial3143 that ska beat is deceptively addictive, happy mood in head regardless of lyrics... so it's a happy song, even if the words speak to something else.
When I was a teenager in the 90's I listened to this album religiously. After a few years my dubbed tape finally fell apart, and I tracked down a new one, only to discover that I'D ONLY HAD PART OF THE ALBUM UP TO THAT POINT. My old dubbed copy ended halfway through "room without a window". I still get a chill when I hear the opening of this song, remembering what it was like to discover my favorite album had even more songs I had never heard. That led me to Seedy, etc.
hmmm, people say Tim Armstrong doesn't play his guitar, they forget that he plays guitar on every song on this album and the first Rancid album, all i have to say "meh" to those people\
It doesn't just drop out from under you so you need to find some place in the city where your mind can process that information in a healthy way.. You can think about the scientific information.. So you need to be tolerating your environment to accomplish that maybe..
That's only in your head. Joe's dad was a rich diplomat that bought everyone's gear. All your favorite music was foisted on you by men in business suits around a boardroom table.
Joe Strummer was definitely the son of a diplomat. I don't think that denigrates the music of The Clash. After all, it seems awfully punk rock to get somebody else that's wealthy to pay for your gear (and your entire band's gear, if your claim is indeed accurate). Hell...after being a musician for 25+ years I wish somebody else paid for the tens of thousands I've spent on gear in my lifetime.
You need to learn to appreciate what you have in life.. ( It's not all the same.. ) Building structures weigh a ton.. But so does a big giant slab of cement.. We don't go around picking grapes off the street signs and the traffic signals basically.. But anybody can have an episode.. Anybody can have a nervous breakdown.. Because there is gravitational phenomenon sometimes when the human person becomes like a feather in comparison.. So you just have to achieve your goal with reaching some kind of a place in the city that you can really tolerate.. Or hanging out at some kind of a place in the city that you can really tolerate.. It's the weight of the ground moving.. But you could calculate the cost of that in a scientific way.. Like looking for some correlation with earthquakes.. It dosen't just drop out from under you so you need to find some place in the city where your mind is able to process that infirmation in a healthy way.. Because it plays tricks on people..

42 years old checking in, just hoping the young generation keeps this alive!
That opening was always one of the best ever!
The first 10 seconds of this song are absolutely beautiful

This is not a happy song, at all.

Agreed the entire song is amazing, both lyrically and in general; but when I heard that introduction I think i came

Idk if it was intentional but the riff for bermuda triangle shorts by Man or Astroman bares a striking resemblance to the riff here pretty cool.

Dorky lyrics. Melody cool. They should have found a better lyricist.
