- I install new LED Projector style dipped beam headlight bulbs in my new Ram 1500. I also replace the other headlight bulbs and show the differences between Reflector style Headlights and Projectors, with a side by side comparison.

Thanks very much for the detailed video. A great upgrade over the stock halogen. Not too bright and powerful for oncoming vehicles 👍. The comparison of the two bulbs against the garage door proves how well manufacturers are designing led bulbs for a halogen projector housing. Cheers
Looks awesome. Ok you have convinced me, going to have to get a set for the TRX4.
I've noticed as I get older my nigh time vision is getting worse. These bulbs probably looker brighter if you have perfect youthful vision, so I think it's a good compromise.
@@ScottRods Agreed, my night vision is crap, it's why I put HID's in the 2500.
These OEM projector headlights do much better with HID in the low beams. LED does fine in the high beam reflector.
What part number HID would you recommend? I can’t find the DZG Scott used.

Did you get new bigger dust caps or did you modify the original to fit over the low beam bulbs?
I managed to get my caps over but it was tight. No problems so far.
Great video. With projector lamps, it is recommended to use HID bulb vs. LED bulbs. Projectors tend to project the light emitted from the front of the bulb where as a reflector utilizes the light emitted from the sides of a bulb, much like on an LED. This is why your low beams don't seem to have as much depth as the Halogen bulbs and aren't quite as impressive as on your older RAM with the reflector low beam headlamp assemblies.
That's probably true, I just don't like the amount of heat produced by HID bulbs, especially inside a plastic headlight area.
@@ScottRods I fully understand that concern and would never risk using HID's with a reflector style lamp but the projector lights (even plastic assy's) are "supposed" to be able to withstand the heat.
Question: with the use of the fan cooled LED's, did you get interference on your radio (FM Band specifically) ?
I am going to try some Ferrirlte magnets to see if it eliminates the noise. No issue with the HID's, just the LED's for some odd reason.

@@ScottRods I mostly listen to Satellite but FM in the am. Odd thing I noticed this evening when leaving work, it was fine, then intermittently interfering. Sort of like FM reception in the 70's/80's.
@@seniorsurvivor7381 You've just triggered a memory from my childhood. We used to go on long bus journeys across Europe, and at night the driver would turn off the radio to let people sleep, but I could still hear the engine buzzing through the speaker as it revved up and down between gears, lol. Happy days.
So i know these lights are not adjustable from the cab (why? I don't know. Every car I drove in the uk was), but under the bonnet and above the lights, there are two holes with arrows pointing at them. You can adjust the beam with a socket, i did it on my 2018 ram after the same upgrade

9006 Bulbs are traditionally used in reflector style headlights for Low beams. In the projector style headlights this is not an issue as the beam pattern is not set by the reflective part of the headlight assembly. I found a good page which explains the differences. Looking at getting some LEDs for my 2017 ram. Was wondering after a year, what are your thoughts on these lights?
They still work, and I still love them. I've been struggling to find spares like this however.

So you used 9006 instead of 9005 also which high beam bulbs did you use thank you
I took the 9005 bulbs out of my other truck, but they are no longer available on Amazon.
Good evening I saw your video on UA-cam and it's interesting but I would have a question to ask since I'm in Europe and I'm in possession of a Dodge like his would you give me the name of the company where he bought the lamps? Here they provide them to me incomplete and with the wrong adapters
Can you use your high beams and fog lights at the same time? When you did the daytime test when high beams came on your fogs went off.
Well spotted Brian. No, the fog lights and dipped beams go off when the high beam is activated. I guess the high beams cover all those areas anyway.
You can use diodes to enable them if you really want them

Did you have any problems with flicking or bulbs errors/ shut off?
No problem so far. It's been a few weeks.
You don’t have to take the grill out … one bolt on top.. one bolt down in the bottom you reach with long ratchet extension and a little door in the fender well… the light comes right out…
Then how will you align the little metal plate to line with the notch on the black piece for the bottom bolt? If you do it the way you suggested, which is fast. Doesn't not have the headlights sit how they're supposed to.
@@chamakese55 you can see to align the little notch while putting the light back in… it’s really easy
@@Wootangtw you absolutely can't do it like that. The metal piece spins unless you physically hold it. This is why the driver headlight sits at a slanted angle a wee bit. Sorry just my ocd

@Wootangtw I have a classic, it's the exact same as 4th gen. I know you can take the headlights off without taking off the grill. Where the bottom bolt sits..the weird looking stuff. If those ain't lined up correctly, then the headlight ain't seated correctly. Yeah you cam easily out the headlights back on, but if you ain't holding the metal plate. It will spin freely and not line up on its own. I literally don't want to take off my headlight to show you what I mean. That's the whole reason why they want you to remove the grill, for that reason.

There should be an option to change your location to USA. Look for a tiny Canadian flag and change to stars n stripes.

I found the USA version of their Amazon shop. They don't have these bulbs listed. I wonder if they are illegal in the USA?

Great for you, not so great for blinding everyone else on the road.
This is why I do reviews. The pattern is good, no blinding going on. Most new cars have LEDs now, so it's no worse than regular cars.
When I had led lights on my matrix I was flashed all the time I my ram not once depending how you install them and the quality of the bulbs.....
