I find it incredibly interesting that he plays through the whole song without fills. I am a drummer also and I have never played a song before without using any transitional fill-work. So to see Drummer go through such an intricate song and transition every rhythm so smoothly without the use of fills is pretty impressive. Its opened me up to potentially cutting down on my fills and really focusing on the beat at hand and being as intricate as possible.
All these people talking about toms fills. I didn't even noticed the complete lack of tom until reading these comments. Really shows how they're not always necessary for a song.
Fr bud this guy's a really clean act and one of the things I admire most about him as a drummer, not flashy or over the top but exactly on target. It's some good material to learn on honestly, listening to them has helped me develop my play style quite a bit so I can better play the genre.
Sometimes they arent really needed. As drummers we may wanna go crazy all the time, but as musicians we know what is needed for a song and when.@camthesooner123
Amazing song! You guys are phenomenal musicians! Your music is a huge influence on ours! We are based out of New Hampshire so if you guys ever want to make a band look bad we would be honored to open for you!
All these people whining about the lack of tom fills in ONE song....when are your albums getting released again? Give me a break; solid drumming, good song, awesome album.
MaggotCZ Pretty sure he just shot this video over the normal song track. Even though there are mics on the drums I doubt they used his takes from the video for the audio.
all this talk on no tom hits, ive played this song and tried to add tom fills, they just dont work with the progression of the song. the cymbal accents and double bass flares are more than adequate, they accent and add color to the guitar work. adding toms would be too flashy and take away from the hard hitting of the song, when it comes to writing music it is the drummers interpretation of what the song is portraying and how the drummer can best add to the music.
at 0:21 he has both his feet going on the bass pedals but I only hear in the song, one should be going (or half as fast). Am I just trippin? Or did he mess up for that part of the song
+fightwatcher07 nah its like a stepping motion he's doing there, if you listen v carefully you can hear both strokes of the bass drum underneath the snare but its not wholly obvious
The drums on the past 2 albums have been programmed, I'm not one to care whether or not they are, but Joe has more than likely written a lot of these parts.
2:44 / 2:45 you hear that double pedal part clear with crashes in the audio and a quick china on that fast blast but hes hitting china in the double pedal part and hits hihat on the blast , audio and visual dont match i call bull shit !!!!
IM A DUMBASS FOR CALLING OUT HIS BULLSHIT FLAW??? mabey a musician in a band as big and professional as his should try be more professional about his art and play consistently with what he records, I don't record shit on a record that im not gunna be playing live the same.
Esteban Juarez Yo broski, its just one little mistake. You see him playing the song perfectly throughout the rest of the song. They put the original audio on top of it because it sounds better instead of just a shitty mick in the room. All the hand motions and hits that he does are real. And if you've ever seen WTR live before, you'll know that he's fucking spot on with his playing.
I suppose the people claiming this is unoriginal and boring think they can do better..? He didn't use toms in this song cuz he didn't need to, the drumming in this song is still amazing. The drum work in this whole album is fantastic. Don't be so critical of people's work when you most certainly can't even match it.
How he can playing fast with this crossing hands on hi hat and snare. It looks so unhandy. And this thumb on left hand which though not holds the stick. This guy is fast, but he was probably starting playing drums technically wrong from the beginning.
Most people play hi hats cross handed...open handed is a lot less common. "technically wrong"? Who cares? His technique allows him to play at this level.
+DjG4meRUS there's no technique that you really HAVE to follow. if you play the drums well and you do it your own way, more power to ya. He does it the way he likes, and it works pretty fuckin well for him.
Wait a minute here?! I feel this guy is bullshitting us idk he’s throwing me off because his drumming isn’t following the pattern. Well he’s better than me that’s for true
he is tall, he's around 6'2" - 6'3" these guys are good friends of mine and this kid is a serious drummer, Ive played enough shows with him to confidently say hes near perfect live when he plays. I used to drum for She Is A Liar, the band Tim was in before he joined WTR.
Nothing interesting is going on here. There is an utter lack of fills or any type of drum work that stands out and and puts this drummer in the category of original and inventive. It was also boring as hell to watch.
Alexandre Paquette I watched it because I love this album. The mix is stupendous and very hard hitting. I also hold great respect for these guys and their accomplishments. It does however sadden my heart see this and feel like he is doing nothing but playing the original parts created by midi programming instead of applying his own influences and drumming style therefore elevating the bands uniqueness.
Andrew Noe That's funny because almost every drummer uses fills and they are always the same ones over and over again no matter how cool they sound. I like that it doesn't have fills. They have a unique sound and if you listen closely enough there are some latin sounding drums going in in some subtle places. The flow of the song and how the drums follow the song make it unique on its own. Not everything needs a fill. There are 10 other songs.
I mean, it's an awesome song and all but there is absolutely nothing impressive with this drum track at all. I consider myself an "all-around musician" aka a jack of all trades master of none, and I could totally play this on drums. Nothing to see here, folks. (fyi - I'm a big WTR fan - this is just nothing special)
I'm a beginner drummer, intermediate guitarist, expert on what I like to see. to me, the way he played it made it look boring like no passion. even though he did a great job covering the song he also did a great job at making it look....i don't know how else to put this... "gay" am I wrong? is it just me that got bored watching him?

Not a single tom hit. Toms are overrated.
This is amazing.
Frank Fiorella Holy wow. Didn't even realize *EPIC*. I'm a guitar player not a drummer but this dude is just insane.
+Mason Cook im a drummer. this is just mad epic
they aren´t even micced up bro lol
@@flz02 Haha serious there just for looks iguess . cus I drum with out toms for space reasons. dose make my set look kinda funny
@mrbeast7175 bro he totally hits the snare

I swear the drummer is like half machine!!! So beast!
Domination from black heart would be a dope drum playthrough and easily the best thing to come out of 2020!!! Thank you!!!
noticed a few things being hit that weren't in the song and vice versa but all in all still sick drumming. probably my favorite song on the album.
You make it look so easy, amazing album and performance!
Amazing song! You guys are phenomenal musicians! Your music is a huge influence on ours! We are based out of New Hampshire so if you guys ever want to make a band look bad we would be honored to open for you!
So good! I love the kick and cymbal work.
Calling Card is my all time favorite WTR song.
Beautiful. Very underrated.
This drummer owns that fucking drum set. So fucking epic keep up the good work.
All these people whining about the lack of tom fills in ONE song....when are your albums getting released again? Give me a break; solid drumming, good song, awesome album.
Drummer, you are amazing. Westfield for life. italian club, waterfront, good shit
westfield da bomb
Was looking for an enigma play through and found this. Awesome! Kevin “drummer” is a real person 🤣
Wicked sick
This is such a cool song, man I'm behind the 8-ball; gotta buy the album
1:57 he is supposed to hit ride no hi-hat .. thats the deal when you record midi drums .. :P
jono dobře sis všimnul :D
Aleš Novák
:D no jo
MaggotCZ JAJA TRUE IS RIDE NO HI-HAT LOL
MaggotCZ Pretty sure he just shot this video over the normal song track. Even though there are mics on the drums I doubt they used his takes from the video for the audio.
Cameron Fischer yeah for sure he did!!! Saw him miss a couple of snare hits at the end of some blast beats. Def just a drumming mime video 😋
Drummer just laid it the fuck down
MAESTROOOO
POWERGLIDE!! I wish I could move mine this beastly.
Очень мощно играет 🤘🔥

I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn sweet
im just glad im not the only person who sticks their tongue out when they are jamming the fuck out
la beast on drums
He looks like he's not sure what he's supposed to do next😂😂😂
What came first, the guitarist or the drummer?
I did 😈
SLAY!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
Definitely filmed in Holyoke 😘
so fuckin good!
Duuude. You have toms for a reason.
Remember that one time we smoked a joint and I dropped you off from a show in Providence usucks at the metalz drums 😋😂🎉GG
0:22 Nice double kick... and just sound one kick jajaja the sound is the original song
at 0:21 he has both his feet going on the bass pedals but I only hear in the song, one should be going (or half as fast). Am I just trippin? Or did he mess up for that part of the song
+fightwatcher07 nah its like a stepping motion he's doing there, if you listen v carefully you can hear both strokes of the bass drum underneath the snare but its not wholly obvious
+shugularity i usually have my headphones cranked, and hear the bass pretty well, I don't hear it in that part.
The drums on the past 2 albums have been programmed, I'm not one to care whether or not they are, but Joe has more than likely written a lot of these parts.
Fucking awesome
Is this the same guy that was named "Drummer" back in the early Within the Ruins days(Myspace era/Creature album)?
Yes, this is the original drummer from Creature
couldnt look more like the drummer in ocean groves music video "lights on kinda lover"
2:44 / 2:45 you hear that double pedal part clear with crashes in the audio and a quick china on that fast blast but hes hitting china in the double pedal part and hits hihat on the blast , audio and visual dont match i call bull shit !!!!

A lot of bands in album recordings use programmed drums. This song is dubbed over him playing. Its not a bluff, it's intentional.
This guy can just take those tom's off the rack. He don't need them
do bass!
Jon Snow knows something....how to drum
I suppose the people claiming this is unoriginal and boring think they can do better..? He didn't use toms in this song cuz he didn't need to, the drumming in this song is still amazing. The drum work in this whole album is fantastic. Don't be so critical of people's work when you most certainly can't even match it.
bad fucking ass. got me
Absofuckinglutely Mandafuckingtory crushingly dam good
hes still a good drummer, and joe is godly
where are the tom mics???? oh yeah. theres no toms being used. haha
DEM MUTTON CHOPS
Not a single tom fill. Don't get me wrong, I think Drummer and Within The Ruins are both amazing, but not the best drum part
Totally agreed
Who cares? Why use a tom just to use a tom if it doesn't sound good with the song?
Why wouldn't it sound good with the song? I think the track would be a lot more entertaining and not as stale with some fills in.
Longrod Von Hugendong Part of what made Ringo such an excellent drummer, not his ability but his ability to select a drum style which fit the song.
I would love to see him do a playthrough of Enigma.
How he can playing fast with this crossing hands on hi hat and snare. It looks so unhandy.

Jesus, did you graduate high school? I can't even understand your first sentence.
+DjG4meRUS there's no technique that you really HAVE to follow. if you play the drums well and you do it your own way, more power to ya. He does it the way he likes, and it works pretty fuckin well for him.
dat technique tho
Might as well just be air drumming
sick nasty bidness, i been drumming 20 years and i can only push through about half of this shit
he looks scrunched up its weird af
He looks super uneasy :x
great song great band great drummer but this is a comped performance. This is the original audio hes just pretending to play it.
Wait a minute here?! I feel this guy is bullshitting us idk he’s throwing me off because his drumming isn’t following the pattern. Well he’s better than me that’s for true
What the fuck are you even talking about? Yeah obviously because you can't even tell what drums look like.
not only any of that but no fast kick shown either, trigger balls editing balls, bullll shit
Weirdest posture ever. He must be really tall or something
he is tall, he's around 6'2" - 6'3"
these guys are good friends of mine and this kid is a serious drummer, Ive played enough shows with him to confidently say hes near perfect live when he plays. I used to drum for She Is A Liar, the band Tim was in before he joined WTR.
Your poor tongue...
UNHOLY POOP!!!!
IS THAT THE RADIO RONDEVUE?!?!?!?!
Nothing interesting is going on here. There is an utter lack of fills or any type of drum work that stands out and and puts this drummer in the category of original and inventive. It was also boring as hell to watch.
If you want to see a good metal drummer, look for Alex Rudinger on youtube. :)
Andrew Noe for real
Lol if you dont like this video stop commente the video

I know what it is now! the way he hits the hi hats! that's what looks boring
