I just finished the last performance of an airplane play where I played Amelia Earheart. We used this song as a few of the transitional music places. And it is stuck in my head! x] I love this song and I'm 13... Am I weird? NOOOO because it's awesome!
Now you're probably 24. I'm curious if you still like this kind of music. Today as i'm writing this, is 00:52 on 15th of April in 2022. It have been 110 years since the sinking of Titanic. I'm trying to pay tribute and respect for all people that witnessed this tragic moments.
People back then had absolutely no idea how big and important aviation would become in just a few decades. This song came out at a time when people were fascinated with the idea of soaring like a bird in the sky. It's as close to the turn of the 20th century as you could get. It's amazingly beautiful!
You couldn’t take a step in the early 20th century without hearing Victrolas playing Ring’s distinctive soprano as she sang about an aviator taking his dearest gal to the moon in a flying contraption
...I knew I'd heard it somewhere, thank you! It's what Rose is singing when she's been lying (freezing) on the wood float for awhile, just before the rescuers come around, right?
@@LG3cko It's creepy because it's been preserved despite being recorded over a century ago on wax cylinders captured by a recording apparatus. It's not like they could pop on their smartphones, record it and have it done within the half-hour.
@@Neophage I played the game Layers Of Fear that game was set during the end of edwardian times the crackling sound of the speaker is just eerie and it sounds like the sort of song that you would hear in a basement in horror games and movies
I first heard this recording in the American Experience documentary about Amelia Earhart and have been on a search for that song ever since. Finally found it and have a name to go with the voice! Thank you so much!
from Purple Label Victor 60032. rec. 12/22/10. Single-sided disc. This was a prestigious label category for Victor just below Red Seal. Interesting how most popular performers 100 years ago still adopted what we'd think of as classical operatic "placed" vocal method. Part of that would have been that voices had to carry in a time when there were no microphones.
@Superbook4Eva Ok,,,Thank you so much,,,,i wanna see the documentary along with this song since Amelia Earheart is one of my favorite person in history,,,,
Blanche rocks!! As I listen to my son and daughter in law complain about their 10 hour flight from Montreal to Beijing, about flying in business class as opposed to cabin... they just don't get it do they? Did they notice that the moon was on fire?
@AviLyricSwann @AviLyricSwann No, don't choose that option, it only option for download the ringtone version (MID), click the song title option for download the mp3 version,,, enter the code verivication first then you'll be able to download it,,,,if u don't have cell, you can download it direct to your PC,,,or your smart phone,,,
Do you people realize that just because Lady Gaga may make a music style you don't like, it doesn't mean she's a bad singer. Lady Gaga is actually a really brilliant singer.
TITANIC BROUGHT ME HERE!
this has so much more personality than i ever knew!

Can't believe this didn't make Pitchfork's Best of the 1910s
she didn't meet their oh-so-precious standards for great music
You couldn’t take a step in the early 20th century without hearing Victrolas playing Ring’s distinctive soprano as she sang about an aviator taking his dearest gal to the moon in a flying contraption
Typical Pitchfork bullshit.
This is such a cheerful song to use in Titanic, which is a really sad movie.

The Onion brought me here.
She looks and sounds like everyone’s favourite aunt ❤
There are many kids who hate this music but I love it its so soothing
I hate it because it sounds fucking creepy

@@LG3cko oh ok.
Something about her voice that can not, nor needs to, be explained. "Magic" comes closest in my mind.
My house was built in 1911!!
That's what brought me here

a hundred years... -has a brief moment of amazement- Wow.
no electronics were used in this recording, it was all acoustic directly onto the record... amazing
coolbluelights well I don’t think they had any electronics in 1910..
@@pugxlemon6265 There were, but they were still in the experimental stage. The DeForest audion was invented in 1906
I love the picture of her at the end. A classy old lady!
Love this ❤️ what a lovely song 😊
Without reading any comments first... Titanic brought me here...
Such a joyous song! Thanks for posting.
I absolutely love these old songs! Brilliant lyrics and deeply humorous too. :)
I love the sound to these old songs like this
it has the quality of classic stage musical type of voice.
Without the speech parts, I would be convinced that she does opera
(Though I know the obvious differences now, this is what I would’ve thought before)
