Worthwhile doing a feature on Shay Elliott. Superbly talented rider who preferred being a super domestique. Won some big races (incl stages in all 3 GTs) and preferred to take Silver at Worlds so his trade team captain could win. He suffered badly from depression and it ended his life.
My son and I have lamented how primitive and intermittent the info showing on TV is during the TdF. They could make the whole viewing experience so much more engaging by showing rider names, ride data, position on course, percent incline, etc. Its like the leap forward car racing has done by showing in car views, gear, rpm, speed, g forces, etc.
Like they do with Nascar or horserace broadcasts, during playback with balloons showing the rider names. I think they are doing that already but not often enough.
Regarding speed numbers being shown mid-race: most of the time, the Eurosport broadcast shows the data during a fast section (crosswinds, sprint lead-out, descent, etc.) or a climb. I don't know whether the NBC broadcast shows this.
NBC shows live speed when they want to. They will even show the speed of multiple individuals within the same gruppo (like on a climb) to highlight their reletive speed difference.

Would like to hear your thoughts on selection of this stage for a grand tour. (safety - Seems to me that these roads are too narrow for the number of riders and questionable road furniture monitoring. would be fine for smaller pelaton and one day race. There seem to be less people monitoring the race, cautioning road hazards and still there are feet on the barricades. Also narrow roads again too small for grand tour pelaton.
Hey Lance, while you work on your "How long to the finish" overlay, you should also add a "Which direction and how strong is the wind blowing" overlay.

JB. Ask Lance what was different that his team was doing to protect him from crashes on flat stages ( like today with some wind present )? - from Georgi Stoychev
Dear THE MOVE Team, I have a question about team tactics in this years TDF. As I am no expert in cycling ( but a passionate viewer) I ask myself, how important is it to have teammates around you in very hard mountain stage? As Johann Bruyneel pointet out in the additional podcast for stage 10 it might happen that GC contenders lose almost all their valuable helpers in their team for the mountain stages. Isn’t it possible to just ride in the wheel of Roglic if you are Pogacar for example? What is the difference to just ride close to your rivals in the mountain stages, especially when the rivals have 2-3 teammates around them helping them? I hope the question is not dumb and understandable. Much love from Luxembourg :)
Love the dynamic between George, Lance, and JB. More cumbia and Lance dancing needed :) Could Roglic's skiing background be a advantage/disadvantage when it comes to muscle development? Could muscles needed for cycling be less developed or in better shape than individuals that started cycling at a young age?
The whole Roglic didn't have a bike until he was 20 boggles my mind too. I rode my first bike at 5 without training wheels. I just got on and started riding. I broke my first frame 2 years later.
I was six and mowed down an old lady five seconds after my push off. I didn't know how to stop or steer. Our grand girls learned right off at only four. Their Razor scooters taught them balance, (and teacher me) so it was a nothing transition to them.
regarding the yellow jersey and pogačar... alaphilippe said the same thing few years back, he said he would rather spend one day in yellow than finish the tour in white... yellow jersey really is the ultimate prize its like winning wimbeldon or olympic gold
Love the show watching from Australia. Question for Lance & George - "See you in the douches" has been said a few times, I've tried going back and re-listening to other episodes to see if I missed the explanation, would love to understand the meaning and origin. Got any other riding catch phrases you love hearing / using?
Hi...what do you guys think about a possible alliance between the colombian riders? Is that too crazy to think if they see Roglic in really good shape by the end of this week? Thanks for the podcast! Pura Vida!

Masks are for TV only, my bet is it's one part of the organizers end of the deal, in order to hold the event they had to agree to certain terms (read: propagandize viewers with more coroni rhetorical BS). Lance took a small swipe at the topic @8:19 (paraphrasing) "unless I am misreading the data" but George quickly moved on... who's lying now, hey, George? I guess contract tracing doesn't apply at the tour? Isn't everyone who has been in contact with those who "tested positive" also have to quarantine for 14 days (i.e. pretty much everyone)? But one more example of the endless contradictions of the coroni psy-op.
Great Podcast. If it was up to me it would be Phil, Bob and Lance on the broadcast. Question, watching the telecast Phil or Bob will talk about some rider leading the group up a climb to launch his GC leader to attack only to find the leader can do nothing. Do riders get sick of busting their balls for someone who can do nothing with their effort?
How do you spell the people giving food and water to the riders? Lance talks about them around 24:00 . Too bad at french to even attempt a spelling. greetings from germany, matthew
I know this is your coverage of the tour, but I wish you guys would talk a bit more about the rest of the season and how it's been effected by covid. I'm especially interested in which riders will be racing in the other grand tours, and what this condensed schedule means for their chances.

Greetings from Bangladesh. (@Lance if you don’t know where it is, just google it :D ). Enjoying your show very much. Good job to all three of you. I have a questions to both Lance and George, For Last decade we have seen dominance of Team Sky/Ineos but now the scenario is changing, other teams are getting stronger, Froome and Geraint Thomas are moving out. Do you think Ineos can keep their dominance continue? Yes, I understand Egan Bernal is young and extremely talented but can they?
We need to be able to identify the riders much easier in the peloton. Especially when there is a crash or coming down in the sprint. Here is my idea. (@lance you can take credit for this one) The announcers always know the team based on the jersey but if we associate a color on a portion of the helmet you can identify them much quicker. If your number is 1,11,21,31,41 etc (the 1st number for each team) a portion of your helmet should be the same color so it's easily identifiable. For example, Yellow. If your number is 2,12,22,32,42 etc ( the 2nd number for each team) a portion of your helmet could be Green. And so on. Thoughts?
I agree. Not necessarily with your helmet color method. Too many colors? Maybe just make the numbers bigger than they are now, but maybe that would make them too big to pin on jersey. There is a number tag on the bike, but that probably can't be made too much bigger. How about an app that would just show the position of each rider. The app would have to access the database that the Tour must have now from the GPS location of each rider?
Question: you haven't talked much about the GC riders TT abilities and how that will effect the race. Is that because stage 20 is a mountain TT? In the past, it seems like the greatest time gaps come on TT stages.

It takes on average 5-8 days for corona virus to show up as a positive after an exposure . Last weekend was the riskiest day for the riders catching Covid19 from the fans on the climbs. Wim Vansevenant, who finished last in the Tour of 2006-2007-2008, has a son Mauri who rides for Deceuninck-QuickStep. Mauri is a talent in climbing, so big chance he will not break his dad's record of most last places in the Tour.

The test on Monday was too soon for most of the riders and if any are sick we should start to see this in stages 11-14.
Why is stage 11 video blocked ?:((
73 km/h for 26 sec. Pascal Ackermann's sprint to win the 1st stage of Tirreno Adriatico (source Velon)
And he rode through the eye of a needle while doing it lol. Incredible
Nino Schurter, not Nico. What about other jersey colour? Green & white.
More and more I'm wondering if this is a show about the Tour.
Is George related to the bike frame builder in Columbia?
His dad is from Colombia but I'm not sure
Wim Vansevenant, who finished last in the Tour of 2006-2007-2008, has a son Mauri who rides for Deceuninck-QuickStep. Mauri is a talent in climbing, so big chance he will not break his dad's record of most last places in the Tour.
Wout van aart will take stage 11
To Lance's point, tonight during the Dallas Stars vs. Vegas Knights they would pop up small visuals Schmidt slap shot 167.5 mph ..........then the visual 3 seconds later disappears.
Check out the pics on line. He was avoiding a selfie stick to the face and barrier feet that stuck out father than the rest!!
J.B. - toss this genius idea out to the boys to launch a poll - Yes or No - Nusa to be Crowned as the official WEDŪ Podium Girl - she can present the award at the end of the TdF for the "WEDŪ Host's Best Picks" final podium. Fly her to the states to appear on the final show where she will be "N" the USA!
Good idea #2 - Have Nusa provide her version of the morning route announcement.
Good idea #3 - Nusa themed WEDŪ "Cycling World Domination" t-shirt with raised eyebrows
Good idea #4 - Do a segment on who the heck Ilan (Elan?) is - I find ZERO information about him on the internet. Invite him to a future podcast.
Marc in NC - with fond memories of the Tour de DuPont and LA's comeback training up Beech Mtn.
JB-
Can you say "POD FEUD"?!?
Here's one to fire up Lance. Paul "Biznasty" Bissonnette said on his Barstool Sports hockey podcast Spittin' Chiclets that given 18 months to train he could ride in and finish the Tour.
I love hockey and Spittin' Chiclets, any chance for a pod collab? You can invite him on, go on his show, and school him about how the tour works and what's required to make it on to a team, let alone complete the tour.
Shame that Oakley don’t sponsor Lance :(
Yeah I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon 😂
Nicki... Herschi.... Nico.... Nico Schurter - I'm dying
These podcast are great, especially La Movida, but man these plugs are long. 5 minutes of first business. 🥵
The key is to look for the QR codes as you FF using the preview window! The last one usually pops up around 6:30 then the second plug varies but again, just stop after the QR flashes on screen!
That's what it's about dude if you like the show you'll tune in with %100
TRAVIS I love the show, the plugs are still long, sometimes it gets tedious, because I watch the one with lance and listen two the other two podcast they have for the TDF. What I’m saying is there are other creative ways to gain revenue for their awesome content. AD FREE with a PATREON subscription for example. But if you enjoy 10 minutes of business for a 30min show, good for you man. You do you 🤙🏼.
LMNT is awesome. Lance my opinion the Citrus Salt taste better than the Orange Salt. Citrus taste like lemonade with a little salt.
I wish they'd lighten up George's microphone. Way too woofy EQ baby.
what is EQ
@@baboushko EQ = equalizer, an electronic device used by sound engineers to shape the sound, adjust the level of frequencies so the sound (in this case George's voice) will be a pleasing and natural level. Woofy is a reference to a woofer, a speaker that reproduces low (bass) frequencies. George could just back off the microphone a bit and that would also help. BTW, I really like this casual way of presenting the Tour.
may be a descendeur jersey to replace pokerdot.yellow for the leader and that s it , jumbo is rabobank remember it the same team they had so many jersey sponsor and riders.........njoylife
