Yes, although so scary, mom telling her to go to the front of the house + dad dropping everything and heading over + her sweet reaction to someone needing shelter = such a loving family and totally warmed my heart!

As someone still renovating her home as a single woman - if something feels off, don’t continue walking around your house. Get out and go wait in your car until you can get someone else in with you. Whoever it was 1000% heard you talking on the phone/camera and that prob startled them enough to leave but someone was def walking around your house. I kept looking in the background expecting to see someone walking behind you. Renovating older homes - security is a must especially if you’ll be over there alone a lot and squatters can happen especially after the huge storm you just had.
How do you know someone was definitely there?
@@DaniLore They might not have been there necessarily one McKenna was but someone was there. Especially with there being such severe storms in Texas that no one was expecting it is very certain that a homeless person was taking shelter in there

what's horrifying to me is how you found physical evidence of somebody staying in the shed, but also the fact that you hearing sounds in the house multiple times probably meant they were currently in the main house when you were filming. Probably got startled once they heard you talking so much so I'm glad at least their reaction was to attempt to escape back out rather than confront you about it.
And yeah, I do agree with your parents and feel like chances are they were somebody in need of shelter, especially after the huge storm and were possibly somewhat scared of you too, but even when I tell myself that's still incredibly scary to think about! I am so glad you are safe and that your parents were in driving distance and able to help!
What makes me nervous about this, is that those noises in the house were loud, even on camera. It made me wonder if they were in your house's attic while you were in the house, and that's why they weren't in the workshop when you looked. Crazy. Did you guys ever look in the house's attic? Glad you all are safe! This was scary to watch, I can't imagine being there during it.

I had a bad energy once you started showing the water drip. I felt so scared like I was there.Definitely heard foot steps not noise. Check the attic I don’t think it was the roof maybe the attic.

yeah well that's pretty reasonable thing to do...only in movies there is someone waiting to slay you. :D In reality, someone in tough spot, not in best state of mind is probably squatting there - it sounds silly but talking works 99% of the time and ends in helping the person, instead of saying "it's so saaad" and making a video about it. If that's even what happened :)
We love a dad who's immediately like "be right there!" when something happens.

Call the police, inform them that you just bought the property so they lol check on it on their shift. Don’t go alone !!
Yes, around here tools are always stolen. It's a huge problem. Also home breakins are sky high, even during they day around here right now (according to Nextdoor.com), because the economy is doing so poorly. One night I walked into the kitchen at 3 am to get a drink of water and I looked down and watched a man walk from the street down our long driveway and look in our garage. When he didn't see anything in there to steal, he left. However it sounds like she has a whacko in the neighborhood. If she plans to demolish the shed, might not be a bad idea to do that soon. Then the guy won't try to come back and use it or want to hide there. They found a homeless man living in the basement of my three story apartment building before I moved in years ago. It happens but hopefully he can find a shelter in the area and stop bothering the neighbors.
I loved that you thought of the person who probably was sheltering during the storm rather than getting angry, you are a sweet soul! That storm was such a monster, I can’t imagine being trapped outside in it. So glad you were safe & nothing bad happened at the house. Sending love from Houston!

Next time, if you think you hear someone at the property while you're there call the cops ASAP and report a break-in and that you think they're still there.

I actually had someone try to break into my apartment while I was home one night and I spent about an hour trying to figure out if I should call the cops so I called 311 who said I should’ve called 911 so I called 911 who said I should’ve called them the moment it happened so they couldn’t help me and sent me back to 311.
So then 311 took my info and had a cop come out the next morning and dust for prints on my door (I made sure to not touch my door or the door handle at all).

I've lived in bad neighborhoods a few times now and have had attempted breakins while I'm home and awake (due to being a perpetual night owl) But yeah that's one thing I learned is if something feels _that_ off, call the police first and get yourself to safety. Desperate people do desperate things and if a home invader feels cornered, there's no telling how they'll react. It's not an overreaction - it's personal preservation.

Maybe someone was living in those abandoned houses previously or had been there before you and your new neighbors. And they just came back to an old safe space to wait out the storm. Either way freaky moment. Definitely gave me anxiety and uncomfortable vibes watching. It really sounded like they were in your attic and decided to bail out a window or something after hearing you in the house. Lots of sounds going on above you in the video. I’d inspect the attic with your family present. Glad you’re safe lovely!
When you were talking about how all of the facets were on I was like someone had to have been in there!! Like the person probably turned them all on because they had no idea you turned the water off. That was scary, especially all of the loud sounds
This actually makes me feel sorry for the intruder now... like her mom I imagine it was maybe someone looking for shelter from the storm, and they were maybe trying all the faucets looking for water to drink? That’s maybe why the bath was running as they maybe forced it too much and broke it?
Actually, I think maybe it was someone trying to help not realizing it was off. You are supposed to let them drip if you can't turn the water off. It was maybe the nicest thing they could have done.

I would definitely contact the local police department and make sure they're aware that several neighbors on the street have had trespassing issues. They may be able to up their patrol of the area in the evening to see if there's a homeless person who needs shelter or possibly someone who has mental issues hanging around the area. Stay safe!

Watching it again, I felt like someone was there while you were there. Please go with people and make sure to check attic since I remember from your home tour video that it has entry from outside and all one need is stairs.

Try never to turn the water on by yourself, someone needs to be in the house to let you know if there’s a major leak so you can turn it off quickly. A lot of damage can be done in a short amount of time with gushing water✨

That's what I thought, too. I don't believe anyone sheltered there, but someone saw an empty property and needed water desperately. Loved how your mother instinctively assumed it was someone seeking relief from the storm. Hope you're feeling well emotionally, and the intruder (if they genuinely just needed water) is fine as well

MaCenna is a genuine soul, she is one of those people that resonates kindness. I actually watch her because she is not only a great decorator but she is not fake, phony or pretentious. Her parents did really well raising her. I’m 57, I’m probably her moms age. If she was my daughter, I would be soooooo proud of her. I’m sure they are.

I know how scary it is to have someone break into your house!! Someone broke into our new house after our FIRST night there (so our first morning). We were still home and he broke through a window in the basement. It was absolutely terrifying. I’m still working through it! But getting security cameras has made me feel a lot better. We use SimpliSafe and a SimpliSafe ad played during this video 😂 I hope you’re alright and that no further harm is done!❤️

THAT PART. Like, that’s not normal behaviour, that’s either someone with malicious intent or mentally unstable and neither should be taken lightly.
Just an advice : when you feel scared just don't stay in a closed area. Get outside where you can run away. I know you don't want to be scared in your own house but we don't know who was hiding in there. take care ♥

My sister had purchased an old victorian in Sacramento. Apparently homeless people were taking shelter in there before she purchased it. One night they tried to come into the house. She yelled, "We live here now!" LOL! They never came back.
So sad, but so scary. Good thing they left without any trouble

Well said! I'd like to think most individuals mean no one harm. Just trying to stay warm and dry. However, when confronted or startled, it's hard to predict how someone will react. @@jessicafigueroa822 because they are freaking painful lol! 😃 If you Google them, you'll be able to see how knarly those things are...they are also known as "stickers" if that's a better reference (I've also heard another name before but can't remember it now). I didn't see the typical yellow flowers though, so probably different species 🤷....? Looks like new homework for me (my neighbor has those and I have to pay attention and pull the strays in my yard before they go to seed 😂😭 Eeee-ouch!). Ps...if you hear "burr clover," those are like a saint in comparison.

Yeah, those are definitely what I call "puncture vines" and they're the worst weed because they grow those spiky ball thorns that hurt your feet and pop your bike tires. Good thing she's digging up the yard anyway, because otherwise I'd say rip out the whole thing and start over, because they're going to be everywhere in such a large, ignored property.

Is it just me or was the squeking sound the same as when MaCenna was going in to the shed? I feel like the sounds were: 7:13 metallic sound (tools dragged over something or some things falling over?), later in 7:13, or 7:14 big bang (someone coming down from the roof or opening a door very hard?), 7:19 squeaky sound (someone going in to the backyard shed, probably grabbing their stuff from in there), 7:30 squeaky sound again (them coming out and running away). Is it just me? Listen to this part again and tell me I’m wrong?? And the fact that it happend when you walked away from the kitchen and dining room into the bathroom (further away from seeing them in the backyard?) OMG this was so scary
