Dry shampoo is still a mystery to my hair! I've tried several including Bautiste. My hair just goes from greasy to gross. On the other hand...I used it on my son's hair the other day(he hadn't shampoo'd it the day before because he wasn't feeling well) and it made his hair look better than normal. Ha! Always love your videos! Love you! 💛 #1 Louzer

For me it's opposite :'( I used to be able to go for three days without washing, and on the forth day, I would need dry shampoo. Now I could wash it everyday :/ Earlier if I washed it too often, it would get greasier faster, but then I would just let it get real grease before I washed it, and I would be back to normal, but i doesn't work that way anymore.

Some big game changers for me is it applying it at night before I go to bed so it can soak up the oils while I sleep. But the biggest difference has actually been wrapping my hair in a silk scarf while I sleep. This gets me at least one if not two additional days because my hair isn't moving around and spreading the oils all down the shaft. I wrap my hair around my head in a particular way that it will stay flat while I sleep or I do a heatless curl with a silk scarf wrapped on top of it.

Your hair is very similar to mine in look, thickness & texture. I watched one of your highlighting videos & got the courage to try box dye(!) for the first time. I went for Med Ash Blonde. It went more red than I was expecting. But decided not to stress & will go for a lighter shade next time to see if I can get to a colour I like and hopefully start saving money at the hairdressers. I wash my hair every day usually so might try the dry shampoo suggestion as well :-)

I have tried foam ‘dry’ shampoo which is wet but a great refresher and great with the blow dryer. I’ve also used powdered root lifter on day three. I use Moroccan brand dry shampoo immediately after my blow out on day one so day two is usually good for me. I also did a 7 day challenge which really helped. I only used dry shampoo until day 7. Used castor oil (smells gross but works), on roots and coconut oil on ends. Massaged my scalp, washed, only spray conditioner on ends and it was awesome. Make it it to day 3 with flying colours. Love the video Lou and loved reading all the comments. ❤️

I wash my hair 2x each week and use herbal essences dry shampoo. I didn't know they made them for each haircolor!! I have black hair and hate losing the shine from dry shampoo but I do find using a hair dryer and a round brush on top helps (my hair is straight) to fluff it up a bit as mine gets flat like yours.

  • @iahorvath

Dry shampoo is great! My hair gets greasy the next day also. When I apply dry shampoo the day after I've washed it, my hair looks dry and wearable for up to 4 days after! I also only apply it to the roots. We had a power outage for 5 days 6 months ago and dry shampoo was a lifesaver. I didn't feel gross. One caveat with using dry shampoo (for me) however is that my scalp gets itchy on the first day I apply dry shampoo - this subsides the second and subsequent days. In situations like trekking/backpacking, where washing your hair every day is impossible, dry shampoo is a blessing. By the way, dry shampoo has existed since the 1960's. My teenage aunts used it then.

I use baby powder or diatomaceous earth, it's cheap and absorbs hair oils. To tone down the white I just ad Hersheys coco. My red haired friend uses the straberry quick powder to tone down the white. We've been doing it for 10 years or so. Cheap and works great. Just dust on , give a light brush and go. You can use cornstarch and also cinnamon for color so it's not so white. I have long hair and ONLY condition on the bottom half.

    Hiya Lou!
I dig how you are so honest, I'll probably try the Batiste, if it's not too expensive, because I love the idea of covering my grey roots and concealing the greasiness too!
Really hope things are all good with you. You seem well :)
If this sounds fun for you, consider my request. Please help me with my fingernails. I notice that yours look natural, and pretty. I've recently ruined my natural nails with glue on cheapies, something no one really talks about. They were a seemingly nice solution to needing fingernails as tools in a kitchen setting. However, with my hands in gloves and chemicals all day, they were too much maintainance, and I had to give them up.
Anyhow, they are a mess, and I weaken them everyday more . Ive been trying lots of things but nothing can get on top of the damage.
A vid with tips, or suggestions, even if its not what you would do, would be AWESOME!
    Luv,
    Rin

Oh, and as far as what I do on day three hair, I still use plain old talcum powder, with a big puff, and comb it through, and...wear it up.
I figure it's far enough away from my cervex to be safe, it's cheap and, since I don't use it for anything else, I still have tons of it from years ago.

I like that the Batiste dry shampoos come in all those fancy colors, but the guilt I have from using aerosol and then chucking the cans makes me want to go low-tech. I have noncommittal brown hair, so my fallback is a crazed mixture of corn starch and cocoa powder. I have yet to get the right balance, but the cornstarch is very fine. If one overdoes it, one's head smells like a brownie. There are worse fates to endure. I heard one can apply the powder with a very floofy brush. Ideally I would like a tiny bellows to disperse the powder, and it's okay if I have to put a cone over my face, like that wig shop scene in Amadeus.
I know that times were different regarding hair washing when my grandma was young in the 30's and 40's, but the idea that she could go a week between washings and settings at the beauty parlor just blows my danged mind. If I make it three days I feel I am Crushing It.

Kathy Benedickt heyo! i don’t wanna try and impede but i think it’s a little insensitive to comment tht bc as u should know, everybody struggles with their own hair problems and many times, these issues like ur describing, while gross, are due to genetics and hormones. like some ppl just produce excess sebum and have hormone imbalances which already rly suck. and most of the time, these ppl ur judging/assuming are not “taking baths,” have tried many different things to remedy their issue and actually struggle with it. i don’t think it’s fair to assume they have poor hygiene, although it seems plausible from an outsider standpoint. if u see the many comments and different videos regarding oily hair/dry hair/other hair problems, u should get a sense tht most of these problems ppl face are not due to (most usually) poor care...i know wat ur talking about regarding the smell and the look bc i recognize these things too, and bc i have a really sensitive nose, but it’s not like i don’t struggle with it too and it’s sadly just a human thing. sorry for this long comment rip...but just try to be more considerate and understanding...

Laurie Paris bc ur in a nasty cycle of it being too greasy, then having the urge to wash it immediately. while it feels good short term, ur actually doing more harm to ur scalp. the concept of washing ur hair is not a bad thing at all as it gets rid of excess oil and buildup from everyday life. however, it becomes an issue when ur doing this regularly because now ur not only stripping ur hair of the “bad”/excess sebum, but ur stripping away ur GOOD oils that are natural/normal and necessary for a healthy scalp. they keep ur scalp moisturized and skin hydrated naturally and in balance. then, in order for ur body to compensate for ur stripping of its necessary and healthy oils, it produces EVEN MORE sebum-now an excess amount. it’s ur body trying to protect itself but now it’s overcompensating and now ur dealing with a worse problem than it should’ve been. so now bc ur body is doing this, u feel real greasy real quick and u respond by washing it immediately again. now ur just repeating this cycle tht never ends and ultimately harming ur scalp long term tht could lead to problems in the future. ur scalp needs a break too. this is prob a bad example but it’s like picking a scab bc it looks bad at the moment and there’s momentary “relief” where there isn’t this hard, noticeable bump there anymore right then and there. but bc it was trying to heal by creating tht scab to protect itself, now ur body has to work on it again and this nasty scab grows again and u pick it off again and then it goes on and on and now ur in this nasty cycle as well. all bc it scabs (or gets greasy) doesn’t mean it’s best for u to pick at it (or wash it more). u gotta let it “heal” and over time it gets better. PLUS, if ur saying ur hair gets greasy everyday, tht would mean it just looks/smells/feels grosser more quickly and more noticeably than if u weren’t in this cycle and took care of ur hair properly and who would want tht anyways? wouldn’t u want to feel and look better for longer. i mean thts only natural and it’s healthier for u. sry this was SO/TOO long but hope it helped!
