Today I wanted to walk through a patch highlighting the Table Shaper and how it differs from FM. I go pretty in depth and study the relationship it gives in managing bass sounds, and then turn it out into a sick Roaring bass by the end.
Check out the new table shaper, and check out my presets listed above

Hell yeah, love the deep dives into what specific tools can do. If you like making this format keep 'em coming ^^

I got shapertable a few days after its release, but this video helps me understand the plugin even more and utilize it to full advantage! Thank you!

So hyped to see more in-depth phase plant content, just skimming around this video at work but this is definitely gonna be a nice companion to follow along with some shaper table ideas.

15:30 re. DC offset; the main problem (to me) is that it reduces headroom for mixing down the line, ie. if you have an offset of 10% on either side, you now only have 20 dB left for everything else. That's why adding a DC filter (or a high-pass at a frequency below the fundamental, they're the same thing) is beneficial before any dynamics processing, or saturation (though with saturation, having the DC offset makes the saturation asymmetrical which results in more odd harmonics (closer to a saw wave) similarly to adding bias), because otherwise you don't have the same margin of "maneuver" for the processing. Other than that there are no rules, if it sounds good (on a whole mix), it is good

Usually in the design process I’m smashing things into a ceiling anyway so I’m not too concerned about the headroom. There are definitely times to preserve dynamics depending on what you’re doing but I’m a distortion junkie with bass. When it’s time to mix a track then I’ll be more considerate^^

If you wanna be super accurate, DC offset is different to just having an asymmetric waveform. Actual DC offset is when the waveform is no longer centered around the zero crossing. For instance, imagine a sine wave that's only oscillating above 0db, it's new centre point would be 0.5db instead of the normal 0.
Most asymmetric waveforms (like brass instruments etc) are still centered around the zero crossing unless they have super low frequencies below like 10hz

some of those basses are particularly nasty. do you have a patreon or somethin where you give them away or sell them?
