"They´re not hiding anymore." I remember how I got goose bumps hearing that for the first time. Ohhhh so much fun we have seen and so much more to come.
To be fair, Arthur from "Late Delivery in Avalon", was *not* the one who *ordered* that the shots should be fired. He was simply the man at the gunnery station who pulled the trigger when ordered. Now in terms of self-inflicted guilt, his torment would be absolutely real. He fired the shots, on orders, but he fired them, and then humans were brought very nearly to a Battlestar Galactica situation of flee-your-homeworld-or-be-eradicated. "I was only following orders" does nothing to the all-too-human tendancy to blame ourselves for too much. But Arthur did not have command of the _Prometheus_ .
I love the horror elements in this episode. The way the telepath ripped out the cables and wrapped herself in them like a nest or cocoon... freaky... She gives me borg vibes.
Well, I'm finally caught up with your reactions so I'll try to comment more in real-time now. Love the series, of course. Thrilled to find another person enjoying this amazing series.
You already saw the Shadows in a cell with Morden in season 2, In the Shadow of Z'Ha'Dum, and the flashback/memory of the Icarus crew waking them up on Z'Ha'Dum.
The peak moment for me in this episode is the scene between G'Kar and Delenn. But it has a lot of cool stuff. Bester episodes are always great. And we finally know what the main weapon to fight the Shadows might be.
Re: Shadow Vessels & the Shadows - I don't think this is a spoiler to say, but will edit if anyone disagrees Do you remember Mr Morden & how he's never alone? Eg when Sheridan had him in a cell & we saw these insectile shapes* , those are the Shadows (they're responsible for the strange buzzing you hear in some of his scenes)., the Shadow Vessels are organic ships that they make & need a CPU in the form of a living being. *IIRC we also saw them when Sheridan tricked Talia into being in the same corridor as Mr Morden during that episode
To follow up. You did get a little confused on who the Shadows are. They are the large insect creatures that accompany Morden and were seen in the Icarus flashback, which is also shown in the Season 3 credits. The pilot of the ship destroyed itself rather than be captured. It may have been the species performing the procedure or it may have been another. Regardless, they all work for the Shadows. Vessel is another term for ship, among other things, and that’s the definition Bester was using. It has already been established that they merge with a living creature inside. The mind inside the machine could conceivably be vulnerable to telepathic attack, so using telepaths, who have the ability to block other telepaths, is a way of correcting the problem. Since the telepaths in question were blips, Psi Corps was probably happy to have them off their hands.
We know that the Narn have no telepaths ever since the pilot, when G'Kar proposed mating to Lyta. It has being recapped in the episode with the telepathic orphan in season 1. But now we learn the reason the Narn have no telepaths.
No, Shelley, those weren't the Shadows in the woman's dreams. We will see the Shadows -- they look something like giant spiky ants. No, these are servants of the Shadows. There are many of them, of different races. We will see several.
*SPOILER TALK* ⇩ *SPOILER TALK* ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ *SPOILER TALK* ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ ⇩ Upon repeat viewings this episode always bums me out a bit. The fact that they never did anything with this concept of _Bester as an ally_ is so disappointing. It is like revving your racecar's engine, but then just parking the car. 😕

Andreas Katsulas and Mira Furlan are spectacular in their scenes together.
That particular scene is a great highlight of the whole series.
One of those "Oh god yes!" scenes when it come to the question of watching them, no matter how often you already did.
What an episode!
Mr Bester! "Get out of my chair!"
The great highlight of this episode is the scene with Delenn and G'Kar. Great acting art its best.
I've never seen a reactor get things as quickly as you have for B5 - it's very refreshing!! Keep it up!
This is a personal favorite of mine -- always great to see Bester surprise everyone

best kosh voice "and so it begins!"
"Do not thump the book of G'quan, it is disrespectful...."

Makes me wonder what the inside of a Shadow vessel looks like...
Plural is "Sapientes" for thinking entities.

Walter Koenig is brilliant as Bester, better than anything he ever did in Star Trek. Real depth of character and someone you love to hate!!!
Star Trek was just a stepping stone to this, although he made his living off the former.

@@Muck006 Exactly. This is often confused because in Ship of Tears we learn that the Shadows use telepaths for their ships. But that’s new.
