How do you get it to work when I connect cardo to phone and carpuride to phone it needs WiFi and Bluetooth then I don't get any sound through the cardo ?
@@ZenMotoMCR if you play music then on phone click where you can play music via loudspeaker and make sure you click phone, so the sound goes to the phone and not the Carpuride.
If you connect the phone to the cardo and phone to carpuride and carpuride to the cardo...youll gain your cardo controls back and also get better quality music
It seems that there is an option now in the Carpuride where you can set what you prefer to be your audio output (Carpuride/Carplay or iPhone/headset) that would resolve the issue you’re facing at the end of the video going default to CarPlay…
So does the navigation turn by turn directions come through to your Cardo when you have it setup like towards the end of the video?
It will come through the Cardo in either setup, it was just the fact my Cardo buttons were disabled and everything was controlled by having to touch the screen.
Good luck pressing screenbuttons while driving
HAHA you've just sent a message to my wife from my iPad!!
😂😂
Maybe I have just got a faulty system but none of these details work on my carpuride w 70w not connected to Wi-Fi it will not even show the screen
Sounds faulty
Can you still use the Cardo to communicate with other Cardo riders while using the Carpuride CarPlay? Thank you for the great review!
Yes cardo communication with other riders is as normal.
I put me phone in me pocket and get directions threw me headset good enough for me
Don't beleive the hype not suitable if you ride in the rain, lets water in and it dies
I have one of these in my pick up truck (in Canada) getting the sound and everything correct was a pain in the ass 🤣🤣. I have the audio from the CarPlay screen turned off and my phone audio is connected to my truck stereo via Bluetooth or USB. Kind of like you set up after the stop. Since then the major commands go direct to the phone and sound comes from the phone to your stereo or Cardo. This is by far the best way to set these Airplay screens up. Then you just move the most used apps to the main screen on the AirPlay screen. One thing people need to beware of the battery drains fast on your phone using CarPlay so you need to have it charging all the time.
Thank you, I will look into that setup 👍🏻
Craig just connect how you first connected and then press the bottom left of the screen where the white dots are and it brings up Siri and just say your command to it 👍
VERY informative review. I have a Carpuride enroute to me now and I feel like I'm much more prepared for setup options. Thank You!!!
the music was probably getting muted by google or apple maps talking to you
I have maps audio disabled
I lived in Ocker Hill.
Worked at the Patent shaft and n the 70s . How bizarre 😂
You should try the mainscreen where you have like a splitscreen with maps and your most used apps. Just swipe all the way to the left from the “main” page with your apps. You might want to se an intro to CarPlay. Thanks for the review😊
Cheers for info
Too much faff for me but I know you like your tech mate.
Cool, thank you for this review! Two questions please:
1. Will the mount on the device (if unscrew that ram ball) fit the Garmin mount? That 4 screws
2. Never used Apple CarPlay before. If I want to use Osmand maps or Spotify, will it work?
I recently purchased the 5" 502 and although I have not tried it on the open road I have run a comms/ audio test on my MC.
The support from this company has been absolutely fantastic. Very quick response during their normal working hours.
Re The issue with your phone connectivity and BT headset buttons.
I did approach Carpuride support and they instantly sent me a software update to upload to the unit.
Although with the software update you cannot TOGGLE between phone and screen for sound /audio like the ottocast unit the Carpuride unit will play instant sound from your phone and through to your helmet headphones . ( bypassing the carpuride ). It is a permanent fix.
Siri works fantastic through the Packtalk button OR helmet mic voice commands.
The Audio volume also works via the Cardo volume wheel and voice command
Need to run a road test when the weather improves.
So far everything seems to be working to my needs and as per the Ottocast...😀
That’s great news, it’s such a great device and the screen is amazing, very clear. A necessity for modern day riding.
Just ordered one for my GSA as they do it with the BMW mount included now . Thanks .
Looks a good thing Craig but in my opinion to much faff I'll stick with my phone up front using my DMD2 app that way everything can run through my cardo plus I get a bit more info on my screen that said still a very good review 👍👍
Hi! After using the 702 for some time, are you happy with the device and with its size? Would the 702 be too big for the Ténéré above its dash? Thank you
I find it works better if i do not connect my Cardo intercom to the Carpuride and leave it connected just the phone. Being a 7” is too big if you have mounted on the bars but above the dash clocks are perfect. After trying some of the other 5” displays they seem a little too small and hard to see when mounted on the dash
@@Motourev Thank you! That is my fear - that the 502 might be a tad small.
Great review thank you.
As a long time TomTom user I’ve looked at more modern alternatives many times. Some of the navigation apps are certainly much better.
I like the look of the Carpuride and see they sell smaller units too as the one you are using is quite big.
I’m just not really sure it has any real advantage over using apps on a spare old or cheap heavy duty phone?? I know you mentioned theft.
A big disadvantage with the Carpuride is definitely the drain on the phone of being in constant use.
It’ll be interesting to see your thoughts once you’ve used it several times.
Thanks, yes long time use will be a good test, my phone will be on constant charge it just depends how I get on with Apple CarPlay.
Hi mate do you think this is suitable for European travel I was paying a fortune in roaming charges recently PS good video cheers
I have used google maps before in France and worked perfectly
Went to West B tech college. Drank in Westbrom area.
Great video, I will keep an eye out for you locally as you stopped on Manorway just down the road from me !
Hi mate,
I see on the screen "my route", I use that but you didn't demo that app, does it work on the screen?
Many thanks
Paul.
Did you ever get a chance to use it with full sunlight? Concerned about screen brightness. Also any overheating issues. Thank you for the nice review.
Been out in bright weather and was find but not direct sunlight. No over heating as yet as weather is super cold.
That was a very thorough review and test. Nice work. I assume your Cardo still works in a group chat mode though?
Yes no different in group chat
@@Motourev thank you!
Thank you. This is the most detailed information on the Cardo, iPhone and the Carpuride and how they work or not work together. 😉👍
Fitted very similar “bike play” to my 1200X, works a treat linked via phone and to headset with added benefit of Siri command, request My phone now kept in pocket!
How is your mate getting on with the Capuride system. Not sure whether to get Capuride or Ottawa at. Cheers.
He’s getting internment jumps when listening to music. I prefer the Ottocast
@@Motourev thanks for your reply. No issues with the Ottocast then.
@@waynephillips2683 no, seems more stable
Had to laugh when you rang your Mrs ! No matter when , how , where I ring mine she can never hear me . 😂
😂😂📲
That ain’t music lad, that’s angry shouting😂
😂 that’s poetic orchestrate
Nice to see it works with gloves on! Does is do multiwindow? How about readability in sunlight? (might have to wait a few weeks for that!!)
Multi window yes, I think it will be ok in the sun as it’s as bright as my Garmin XT and that works fine in the sun.
Just realised your location nearly on my doorstep. 😂😂😂
Where are you?
Great review. Do you have to connect to your phone and use Carplay/AA or can you just use it stand alone and add mapping tools like OsmAnd etc?
I think the biggest flaw with this is the need for your phone to be charged, and on you. That’s quite a liability on a full day long ride on tour… in rain…
I have a camera sistem on my bike front and back connected with my phone wifi now the carpuride is also connected but the camera won’t , any idea how to resolve it anyone ? 👍🤣
I got lost on this before you even left the house 🤪😂
😂😂😂
Interesting review, do you think it's something that could replace a satnav? I'm looking at satnav units now but these are another option, just not sure if it's better than a satnav for that. Use cardo to control music anyway,
They do not have gps built in so rely on your phones mobile signal, if you lose signal your maps will work but won’t update in real time.
Craig another great review.... Will be interesting to see how it performs over the coming months.. Anyway take care mate, and all the best for 2024.
Thanks buddy, Happy new year
Good review, just ordered mine for my euro trip.Done phone on the bars in the past and i don't want my phone easily stolen. Sometimes I just rely on my cardo relaying audio nav routing via the cardo while the phone is in my pocket.
I don't need messaging on the move and probably not phone calls on the move either, but paired up with Android Auto(AA) with AA configured with an alternative nav application (calimoto etc) this will be useful.
I will also be riding with buddies and we will be connected via cardo mesh.
Would be interesting to see a test with rain hitting the screen.
I will be washing the bike next weekend and planning on leaving the display fitted, will report back 👍🏻
Great video and subbed
Thank you Steven
If it was your own cash would you personally buy one if you already had sat nav and phone set up
I still want to play more with Apple CarPlay but honestly, yes I think I would buy one, a lot easier than trying to operate the phone.

@@Motourev Does it have a light sensor? I wonder if the brightness automatically decreases at night.
@@hunnyoung you set how bright you want for the day and the night. Not sure if it has a light sensor I will check.
Nice review. I've been considering one of these since upgrading my MacBook which no longer seems to work with Garmin Base Camp to talk to my Garmin/BMW Navigator. Just a quick question though: When you had the Cardo connected to the Carpuride, the "Hey Siri" command seemed to bring up Siri OK. Why do you prefer to connect the PacTalk so you then have to press a button to get Siri? Was there some limitation with doing it by voice which I missed? Using Siri is, as you spotted, a much better way to control the experience than dabbing at the screen.
I’m used to using the buttons on the Packtalk so it’s just 2nd nature to me. I’m going to try to persuade myself to use CarPlay.
Did they send this for you to review? WARNING!! I have had nothing but trouble with this company. I bought a W103 Pro and was having troubles and I reached out to them and at first they tried to help but nothing was working so for over 2 weeks I have been requesting a return. They are basically threatening me that I shouldn't ask for a return and my money back because "shipping costs are expensive" and "it will probably get lost in shipping". So if it works for you great but if it doesn't, you are going to have a hell of a time trying to return it.
There are a lot of limitations with using Apple Car Play and Android Auto...don't think the map service will work like it does on your phone or tablet.
Yes it was sent for review
@@Motourev That's cool....because if you had to buy it and make a return it is an absolute nightmare. It might be worth it to tell your viewers this because basically if it doesn't work out or they don't like it, it's too bad and they are stuck with it and lost money.
5:08 the cat wants try it too
🐱 😂
Great review.
I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer. At about the 8:15 mark you tried Siri and it acknowledged the Siri request. At that time your phone and Cardo were connected to Carpuride and your phone was in your tank bag. I'm curious if the Siri request was picked up by your Cardo mic or your phones mic since it was so close? Also, wondering if your Cardo Packtalk has Siri
command capabilities. I mostly use Sena comms and recently purchased a Sena 50R that supports Siri commands and wonder how this would work.
I'm also curious if the Carpuride has an auto or manual day / nite setting and how that works as well as the auto brightness setting. Sorry for all the questions, but you have the most extensive UA-cam review of the W702 currently and your review is very detailed.
The proper way to connect this is delete your Cardo from your phone. You need your Cardo to the CarPlay unit and your phone to the CarPlay unit. Siri won’t work from saying hey siri but you just press on the bottom left of the Cardo screen for a second and Siri will pop up on the unit. You can then just say any command as normal. If you leave the Cardo connected to your phone you will find it gets confused and you won’t be able to talk when you get a phone call. Hope that helps
Regards
Andrew
@@andrewbooth4341 If I understood the video correctly, none of the buttons on the his Cardo worked when he had the Cardo connected to the Carpuride Carplay screen.
Im corn fused!
😂
If you are happy with Apple Car Play then it works perfect, I’m just not happy having to take my eyes off the road to use the screen to change songs, make a call etc.
So what does it do.your phone doesn’t? Don’t see the point.
Exactly, just replicates. Suppose more for those that don’t want their phone on the handlebars plus being 7” it’s a much better screen to view maps
I use these things made out of paper called road maps & road direction signs, if riding in unfamiliar places . The only music I need to hear when I am riding ,is the sweet sound of an engine that’s running properly . I should imagine most ,blokes go out on their bikes to get away from & avoid having to speak to her in doors . The last thing I would want when riding a motorcycle anywhere is to be fart arsing about with mobile phones & other nerdy devices . I certainly wouldn’t want all that ,tat cluttering up my motorcycles or fixed to my motorcycle helmet .
Happy for you that’s the way you choose to ride
@@Motourev It’s the only way to ride properly & concentrate on what you should be concentrating on which riding & the road , not gadgets .
@@maskedavenger2578 again I’m happy that’s your chosen way of riding, wishing you many miles with smiles 👍🏻

In the summer i rode 700 kms one day, none of this crap, how did i survive, unbelievable. The whole point of riding is the solitude.
Well said
You are absolutely right! But I rode 90.000kms over the last two years with my lovely Honda Africa Twin from southern tip of South America up to the artic ocean. And I absolutely fell in love with with Apple CarPlay. I can use tons of different navigation apps and easily switch between them on the fly. Riding Offroad I use Osmand and when I get back to the paved road I just switch to google maps. I just love it and it! 😉
Only the insecure mock others. Ride your own Ride and let others ride the way they want. I run music when I tour due to tinnitus.
When I rode the Pan Am, we asked directions from locals and used maps. We also had CB radios wired up to helmet mics with an iPod patched in.
It was a different ride for sure, but everyone rides their own ride, and another time around I’d probably take advantage of modern mapping apps with a rig like this.
Shakes fist at wind
Let's see how good will be in the full summer sun. I have Hugerock x70 (2600 nits) on my X-Adv and I'm never going back.
