My favourite fish to catch, estuary gilts, amazing fish, great scrappers, it's just that massive thud, thud, thud and it screams off on the bait runner... what a fish. Great watch as always, even better it arrives as we are huddled indoors as storm Bert pushes through. Should be good out there after the blow.
My 12yr old is busy tying 3 hook flapper rigs for his next match while it’s blowing a hooley outside. Shame we don’t get many rays from our beaches but we get plenty of flounders - which if you squint could be a baby ray.
Pout? As bait? The Prince of the Sea? Sacrificed at the alter of such mediocrity as a ray. How very dare you. Please subscribe to my channel, then instantly unsubscribe through shame. (In all seriousness, yes. Great bait. Had many an undulate, especially on pout)
I'm not particularly picky when it comes to a favourite fish - but I do like to see anything flat! They're so different to anything I ever caught as a youngster in lakes and rivers. I'm hoping for at least one flounder this winter. I'm usually down Mudeford way these days - I vaguely remember my dad catching a flounder here around 30 years ago. I believe that they're a bit rarer these days - but do I have a chance? Any tips for targeting them?
Definitely mate, mudeford has been fishing well for them over the last few weeks. I had a nice plump one along the back sandbar. The deep water hole just inside the run us probably the hotspot though.
A bass. I hope and fish for them most outings. Had one recently, few hundred yards from where you are, on a lovely rod, Syria (new) with a Bullseye (new) Sold to me recently (you) Few percentage(😂) short of 5lb. Photo on the shirley club page. Thank you 😊
I’m too much into the throw it out and hope, I really should learn to aim at a certain species. I thought about a favourite but then my list gets too long. I would love the time to catch a Sea Trout or a Golden Grey..but then again after a lost catch this year a thumping good ray would be amazing. Thanks for the inspirational videos.
Hey Tom great video as always. I managed to get a ray session in on Wednesday night just gone on Youghal beach in Ireland. Had 6 painted rays with your Bagnall bar rig and a load of dogfish. The bar rig is great , very simple to use and casts a mile if you need distance. Biggest ray of the night was 8 or 9lbs the others were baby rays. Can i ask a question, what mainline, tapered leaders and knot to join them do you use? Looking forward to your next vids. Tony.
Hi Tony, It's great to hear you had a good session. Some lovely fish there. I'd have loved a decent one like you had. I keep chopping and changing lines. I've tried the Fox Exocet, ProLogic XP Distance, and the Trabucco XP Fluoro recently. All very good, nothing wrong with any of them. I only chop and change so much as I like to try every line I sell. I use the Tronixpro Xenon tapered leaders pretty much solely, though. I use a 6 turn blood knot.
Wahey! I was the other numpty on the other side of the beach stood in the freezing cold filming themselves reel in fish 😂. If it helps the sales pitch I did catch on a trusty Bagnall Bar!
@ I was down near the sobo bar end. Had a very similar session, 4 small eyes, a little bonus Bass and just as much enjoyment as you seemed to have! Thanks for the videos, I’ve learned an awful lot about fishing SB from them 👍
Waterproof, yes, definitely. They're not thermal though. I've never liked heavy thermal clothing, I prefer base layers. These are the ones I'm wearing in this video: christchurchanglingcentre.co.uk/clothing/waterproofs/guy-cotten-hitra-bib-and-brace/
Cold? Cold. ?🤔 I’ve just been watching Graeme from T A fishing, he’s beach fishing and he’s wearing corduroy trousers and slippers 😳. Graeme is so tuff he used to be Mike Tysons 🥊 top sparring partner back in the 90s , (Graeme doesn’t like to talk about his boxing career , as during one particularly heated training session Graeme lost his temper and almost killed Mike, the incident upset Graeme so much he hung up his gloves 🥊 and went fishing instead. Graeme is so tuff At the Olympics the scientists test Testosterone to see if it’s got any Graeme in it .
Cracking session mate well done 👍🏼
Thanks Neil 😁
Nice to see one of the best, make it look so easy 🎣👍
You're too kind. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more. Gilts are special fish in every way.
I think the fishing after the storm will be great 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Solid work chap 👌❤️🎣
Thank you matey 👍

Favourite fish to catch? The mighty dogfish! Always happy to get one! Never a pest! 🎣 👍
Well, that's a refreshing answer! Much maligned fish, sadly.
Good work Tom 👏
Thank you, sir.
Lovely video really enjoyed it.
Thank you 😁
Howdy, your videos are always super. Your presentation awareness with no rambuctious foul language is so refreshing. Keep it fishy☘️
I edit the language out. That's why my videos are so short.
What a ray of sunshine you are 🤨😂😂. Have you tried pout for your rays 😜🐟🎣

@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 😂😂😂, one of my favourite baits 😆🤭
Favourite fish to catch? Bream, pound for pound they put up a great fight.
Definitely an awesome fish and one of my favourites too. Great shout, mate.
Cracking video mate you are a natural infrount of the camera 👌👍
Natural idiot?
@christchurchanglingcentre5428 😀😀😀😀 great presenting
nice one tom!
Thank you 😁

@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Awesome, I'll give that a try next time I'm there, which might be Monday if the storm eases and the rain stops.
Best of luck 👍

Well that's just awesome all round 😁😁😁
Hope you're enjoying that setup as much as I do!
Bream and bass are great to catch, but nothing brings a smile to your face like red mullet or sea trout.
Ooh, yes! Good shout. Sea trout are a barrel of laughs to catch, and red mullet are simply beautiful.

All my fishing is throw it in and hope! I just edit the video accordingly! 🤣🤣

Bet there's a nice surf breaking today be good for bass and practise survival skills.😆
🤣 Good day for a little light wading.
Great video Tom.... You do love to rub it in with the rays tho. grrrrrrrr........
🤣🤣 Don't tell me you still haven't caught one, Steve?
Great video as usual.
Favourite fish is Gilthead.
We are heading up to Boscombe in late March, are the small eyes inshore all year round pls?
Ooooh, yes! Giltheads are definitely right up there on my list too! Wonderful fish.
Yes, the rays should be around when you're down.
I’m wondering how Bert is going to affect the fishing!!
Positively, without a doubt. I can't wait to get out once he's moved off.
Wahey! I was the other numpty on the other side of the beach stood in the freezing cold filming themselves reel in fish 😂. If it helps the sales pitch I did catch on a trusty Bagnall Bar!
Good man. At least one of us caught on one! 🤣
Where were you fishing? I didn't see anyone else down there!
@ I was down near the sobo bar end. Had a very similar session, 4 small eyes, a little bonus Bass and just as much enjoyment as you seemed to have! Thanks for the videos, I’ve learned an awful lot about fishing SB from them 👍
@SeaSmith that's awesome mate. Glad you've picked a few things up and sounds like a great session. 😁
Would you do a video with the different rods reels tackle you use ?
Square grouper area a top catch....
Tom can I ask are your bottoms you wear waterproof and warm and if yes can you tell me the name of them cheers

🤣🤣 Brilliant stuff mate. I've never actually watched any of his work, but I hear the man is a legend! Best of luck to him.
