As an hourglass figure, I feel like even though my figure type is desired, it's hard to dress (as you said, it is hard to dress) because the clothes on the market are more accomodating of athletic body types. That's the model figure - athletic and straighter in the hip area, and I find vintage clothing suites me a lot more.
I am a near-hourglass as well, but I live in crewneck knits, blazers and cropped trousers. When my curves are not on show, I can fake looking like a more "straight up and down" body type. And I find that I don't look any bigger because when I don't emphasise my waist, it makes my hips&bust look smaller in proportion. I feel very fortunate that I can move freely between looking like a ruler in certain clothes (typically menswear inspired ones) and an hourglass in other clothes (ie. a fitted party dress).
eizhowa That’s awesome 👏 I love that you dress how you like (because that’s the most important thing). I like my figure to be shown to its best effect most of the time lol 😂
no, not athletic - as an athletic woman i find it super hard to find clothes for my muscular arms, big butt and broad arms. Shop clothes are made for "straight" types, which has not much to do with athleticism :D
The first dress would actually look good if it was paired with a thin belt at the waist. It does have a flattering cleavage, colour well matching Shannon complexion and interesting pattern. And it looks so comfortable (and had pockets!). All it needs is a little correction in the shape, which a belt would provide in a second.
Do you think you could make a video about how to dress modestly and fashionable in the summer? I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that needs to dress modestly because of their religion. I feel like my winter style is just fine but as soon as summer hits I have no clue what to wear and I end up looking sloppy or overheating from all the layers. Our guidelines are simply nothing to short (to your knees), no cleavage, and your shoulders, and middle need to be covered. I would really appreciate it thank you!
Thanks for showing a curvier hourglass shape. All the videos I find have really skinny hourglass ladies and I can’t visualize myself wearing the clothes.
Great tips! It **is** tricky to dress such a figure. If I use the H&M US size guide, I am a size 6 at the waist and the hip, but a size 10 at the bust. I am not a big lady by any standard. Yet, if I am not careful, I look short and fat in many casual outfits. When I was young, I couldn't figure out how to dress in order to look cool. It's actually hard to do with an hourglass figure, which is a formal figure (and a formal face doesn't help).
I agree that it's tricky. I'm an hourglass and I can look too provocative because I'm busty. So if I go the other route and wear baggy clothes, I look big when I'm not. I am standard size- 6-8 on the bottom but I have to size up on the top and have blazers and structured pieces tailored to fit my arms and waist while accommodating my chest.
Exactly. If the fabric hangs from the boobs, it looks like the waist is just as big. No moo-moo is ever going to hide that there is a round "bubble" butt under there, either. I love blazers, too! It's one of my go-tos. That and sexy leather jackets. :-)
I love this series! Usually I'm somewhere between proportional and bigger on the bottom, but I have IBS and sometimes I get so bloated that I'm suddenly bigger in the middle. (People sometimes think I'm pregnant...) At least now I know what to wear in what situation :-)
remmirath42 Ugghh, I feel your pain girl! I have IBS and endometriosis :/ Idk what your style is but this winter I LIVED in the same pair of Express jeans skinny jeans (lol I dont go out often). It was comfy and I looked good in it but recently I got tired of it and just threw on this cheap h&m skater dress to go grocery shopping and it was perfect! It's crazy I never thought of this before, but the flare on this dress starts pretty close to my belly so you can't see it unless you look really closely. I am 5'3" though so that may play a factor, but you could maybe play with different styles of A-line dresses :)
I love Shanon :D she seems more comfortable in her body now than in the client makeover videos which amazing :D And so great to hear that she made it in her career and in her personal life
Great tips. I believe that I am an hour glass. My waist is the tiniest part. However, only from the front and back view. Sideways - I don't have a lot of boobs or butt. Sideways I am more pancake- like. So I am an hour glass pancake. I haven't seen many celebrities who are both boobless and buttress. What advice would you give?

Isn't horizontal stripes supposed too make you look bigger. Accentuating it even more?

That outfit looks amazing on you. Especially with the lace peaking out underneath 👌 and aw your model is a sweetheart ‘IT HAS POCKETS’ 😂 me
F*** Yeah I LOVE SHANNON!!! She looks like such a happy woman so I am excited to see her again.
Only 8%.. woah! I have the waist!!

Sorry I mispronounced Shannon
Thank you! Shannon's transformation has been incredible to watch and to be a part of :)

I've never mastered the jacket window in casual wear without feeling like a sack of potatoes or a slob.....
I have hourglass shape but also Im petite, and is hard to find clothes that fit me :(
Alterations, girl! Alterations!
I disagree with spingebob reference for thick around the middle. Accentuate the positive and great legs are hidden in boot cut.
I find that the model looks a lot a younger too in the second outfit!
What's Shannon's profession?
Too talky, Show us don't tell us
