Glycolysis can occur with or without oxygen. In the presence of oxygen, glycolysis is the first stage of cellular respiration. In the absence of oxygen, glycolysis allows cells to make small amounts of ATP through a process of fermentation.
Glycolysis takes place in the cytosol of the cell's cytoplasm. A net of two ATP molecules are produced through glycolysis (two are used during the process and four are produced.
Teach a man glycolysis, he'll know it for a day. Give him a mnemonic acronym and he'll remember for a lifetime - well until exams are finished.
This mnemonic also gets one erect in the exam

I’ll still never forget how mnemonics helped me permanently memorize 15 of the amino acids in like a week. I even made my own for the acidic ones: “DA baby Eats GLUtes” for (D) Aspartic Acid and (E) Glutamic Acid

Do you have any ways of remembering when ATP is being used or produced?
When a phosphate group is being added, ATP->ADP. When phosphate group is removed from the compound then ADP->ATP
