As cute and wholesome as this is, having them beat each other up and even eviscerate their internal organs and break their bones after just having a nice conversations is just weird.
That's true, but I'd say that also depends on whether or not you decide to use fatal blows or fatalities, and though there are just the brutal normal and special moves, you could argue that magic or something helps them take the beating.
I kinda head canon that after each fight if they happen to get fatalitied that Liu kang just revives em and wipes the fight from their memory😅

Either he had a movie night where they all watched Predator or he managed to watch a movie with Kitana alone and he put on an action movie starring him
He also showed Predator to Reptile who got scared by it. Guy has good taste in films.
I love how these show just how vastly different Liu Kang is from Kronika when it comes to Geras.
Kronika created Geras solely to serve her and carry out her commands without question.
Liu Kang created Geras as a friend and partner, and even gave Geras the choice to serve or not.
Kronika treated everyone like a tool, no matter how loyal. Liu Kang becoming Keeper of Time must've been a real godsend (no pun intended) for Geras.
And by the sounds of things he's more than capable of looking after things after Liu Kang finally dies. In one game, he became one of my favourite characters.
It also helps he lived a life as both a champion fighting for his realm as well as a destroyer when he was a revenant. Both good and evil.
It’s funny that Shao can’t understand that Raiden is a genuinely nice guy… yet he shows Reiko a father’s praise
I love that Kenshi and Cage are best friends in this timeline

I love how in this game they treat the fights with allies as more of a spar than a fight to the death, seems wholesome

I *love* the tone of this game! It's much lighter than what came before, but it's still epic, with great character work, and almost everyone is likable. I love it.
Outside of this video, if Raiden was savage, this could be an interaction:
- Reiko: You are nothing without that amulet.
- Raiden: And you are nothing without Daddy Shao.
Honestly as friendly as everyone is to each other, it just makes them more psychotic when they finish the fight with a gruesome fatality afterwards. Like "Dude I totally respect you we should be buds" to eviscerating them all over the floor and leaving barely any remains.
You can just not do fatalities...

It sucks that these exchanges are only available in versus. With that said I main Smoke and if I were to face a Scorpion player and win, I just wouldn't have the heart to do a brutality or fatality on them.

I said it on a previous video I will say it again. It would be amazing to see all the MK Lore in some 5 minute webisodes.
This new timeline has made so much wholesome Kontent that I would love to see explored.
I especially would like to see Johnny’s movie progress with the champions, As well as Movie night with Kitana and Syzoth.

Honestly the interpersonal relationships has been the best parts of the game these people really feel close to one another even on the villains side.

Long time fans are living in a crazy time right now. Mortal Kombat will always be Mortal Kombat (fatalities and all), but these kombatant interactions really made them more 3-Dimensional. Even the last two games give characters more personality with the pre-fight banters. It's strange, but in a good way.

So many kharacters got some solid glow ups in this new timeline, and (IMO) none more so than Reiko.

This is the first MK game where Johnny Cage gets complimented more so than he'd usually would.

As much as it nice to see everyone on good terms, it’s not as fun. MKX and Mk11 the characters talk about how they’re going to burn, freeze, smash, or slice each other.
Maybe we'll see a progressive break down as characters' interests begin to diverge. I think this leaves room for growth in the future.
