On "My Car Story" we're in Flint MI on 6-27-15 at the Sloan Museum 43rd Annual Auto Fair.
We're looking at a 1954 Buick Wildcat II Concept Car.
We’re talking with Jeremy Dimick, the Curator of Collections at The Sloan Longway Musuem.
According to the details shared on the Sloan Museums website regarding the 1954 Buick Wildcat II Concept Car:
The radical fender design of the Wildcat II makes it one of the most attractive of the General Motors concept vehicles. The Wildcat II, like the 1953 Wildcat I and the Chevrolet Corvette, reflect GM’s interest in developing small, powerful cars with lightweight fiberglass bodies. Four carburetors develop 220 horsepower from its 322 cubic inch engine.
Though Buick stayed out of the two seat roadster business until the development of the Reatta, elements of Wildcat II’s front bumper and rear chrome taillights did appear on later models.
    Quick Facts
    Year: 1954
    Make: Buick
    Model: Wildcat II
    Weight: 3,770 lbs.
    Wheelbase: 100”
    Engine: 322 cubic inches
    Horsepower: 220
    Units Produced: 1
If you’re interested in seeing the cars, the Museum is located at 303 Walnut Street. Flint, MI 48503. Or go to www.sloanlongway.org/sloan-mus... and view their cars.

That car, and the 1953 Daddy to that car, are the epitome of everything after. The best.

I loved the designers at Buick and Pontiac. They were so ahead of their time. My first job was as a Porter at the Holiday Inn on Bristol Road in Flint in 1968.

What a gorgeous car! Buick should have made some version of that car. I'm not sure that the open fenders or the floating headlights would have made it to production, but some refined version of that car should have made it to production. It's really a shame that it didn't.

What a beautiful car ! Buick should have produced them . The '53 was a little more aggressive looking in the grill and bumper area and should have been produced also. However, the Corvette made it's debut and would have taken away from it's sales ! I think Buick should make them now with upgraded suspensions and extend the interiors about 6 inches to accommodate taller drivers .
Mustangs and Camaros came back after a hiatus and were successful . GO FOR IT ! 🚘

Thanks, Lou. I had seen other Buick concept cars, but not that one. It's the sportiest, and maybe the most beautiful, they ever built.

    Lou gets another great find.
GM. Knew if Buick produced it.
The vette would not have a success story.
    Now where is the .
Pontiac Vette concept? THAT May have been called Banchi.

Hi Rick Believes, Happy to read you like the car. The camera is ok, however back when this was videoed UA-cam would ask when uploading a video "Would you like to stabilize the video?" DO NOT click the "Yes" button. Lesson wasn't learned quickly, however I finally figured it out. Hope you see MANY cars on this UA-cam Channel you enjoy, Lou
