    I'm a big Ford Thunderbird guy, owned a '56 and an '86. Had one of these been on the market I would have never even considered buying either T-Bird, AWESOME CAR! Chrysler would have owned the Vette & T-Bird had they marketed this car! Virgil Exner was a GENIUS!

    What a sleek, beautiful car. So classy and tasteful. I loved the pistol grip interior door handles. They showed up later as gear shifter levers in their late-60's muscle cars.
    Imagine what 300 horsepower must have seemed like in a car in 1955? The 1955 Corvette wouldn't have stood a chance against it in a straight line. I think they really dropped the ball on what could have been a Corvette killer for the Harvard golf and tennis and boating boys.

    I noticed the Imperial eagle emblem ( loved that design )on the wire wheel spinner. That emblem was 1st used on the Imperial in 1962, so I thought. This car is gorgeous!

      Eagle-eyed Mrs. Goodhead is absolutely right. This design of the Imperial eagle, created by John Samsen, was introduced in 1962 and suggests either the wheels or the spinners might not be original.

    I saw this and one of the Buick Wildcats, I believe, at Virginia Beach's one attempt at a Concours D'Elegance back in 1991. Among the honorary judges were David Holls and Larry Shinoda. Sadly, I didn't have a decent camera at the time, and the resulting pictures of this car look like they were photographed on the Andrea Doria. It's a gorgeous car, but would it have been sold as a Chrysler, or an Imperial? The badging on parts of the car make me wonder.

    Just had to comment on what a great guy Joe is!! He has saved so many of the concept cars which otherwise may have been crushed into obscurity! Not even knowing who i was, he found my interest and support in some of the GM Motorama car rescues so flattering that he mailed me actual photographs of how some of these cars were found after languishing for so many years! A man as busy as he is who took the time to do something like that is a great humanitarian for sure! Sure wish I had know in advance of his Motorama cars being shown at Pebble Beach Concours years ago, i would have driven up there just to meet him in person!

    Beautiful. According to Wikipedia, three were made by Ghia. One is at the Chrysler Museum, another was painted dark blue and sold in the US. The article doesn't mention where the third Falcon is. I wonder if this one is it.

    I didn't know about this model . This is similar to the Chrysler " Norseman " that sank in the Atlantic . Alot of changes to the 331 FirePower for 1955 ... different head castings with water passages coming from the corners of the heads instead of the intake manifold. Different water pump and timing cover arrangement than 1954. The 1955 heads are considered the best in the entire FirePower engine series. Also , the hp ratings on these old hemi's are VERY conservative ( or true depending on perspective ) . Chrysler was proud of the fact that they were so strong on crap gasoline and low compression. If you increase either of these factors on these engines they will respond accordingly . The early hemi would continue in the TOP classes of fuel drag racing into the 1980's in one form or another ( some iron block and some Donovan 417 ) . Certainly the best production engine series in US automotive history .

    This is going to be politically incorrect, but I've often wondered if Virgil Exner's severe heart attack had some effect on later designs. I don't know the exact dates involved, but his 'Fifties designs, such as this one, are exquisite; later-on, not so much. Stunning car!

    Great presentation, Lou! But man, the background chatter was off the charts! Sounded like 10,000 pygmies doing push-ups in a snowbank. Nearly ruined the whole video. But, what could you do? Thanks for giving us a rare glimpse of what probably would've gone on to become a legend. I do have one issue, though. Mr. Bortz was explaining and even pointing to a "script" that was on the steering wheel. But what did you do? You zoomed in on everything BUT that script! I WANTED TO SEE THE SCRIPT! Other than that, good job. LOL

      Hi Jimbob, Glad to read you enjoy the presentation :-) Background noise at a car show will happen, and no script. I believe you hit it on the head in your comment ""But, what could you do?" as you do the best you can, with what you have at the time, and try to get the best result, and on this video, this was the best I could do. Thank you for viewing and sharing, and I'm sure when I can control the environment better (I'm at someone's garage), we'll see more of what you like :-) Lou

    Chrysler’s “Ghia” concepts were some of the most beautiful automotive
    creations. Why were they not produced? Simple…they would have cost
    too much. The same reason the ‘56-‘57 Lincoln Continentals were
    halted due to their high cost.

    This car would have cost 2-3 times+ the price of a Corvette or T-Bird
    and that kind of money wasn't in the cards in 1955 to turn a profit.

      Why should it cost 2 or 3 times as much to make this? It costs no more to make a good design than an ugly one.
      Actually this is a very elegant design, and deserved to be put into production.

    One more video about cars where we spent way too much time looking at some hard tail yammering. This guy has a lot of interesting information on this car but do we have to watch him talk in order to hear? Show the car more and not the view up some yahoo's nostrils. A beautiful automobile to be sure I only wish I had been able to see more of it. Here's an idea; in your thumbnail show a picture of this guy talking instead of the car and see how many views you get.

      Dear Where Is The Reason - Hw many Subscribers Do You Have Again?

    • @WHEREISTHEREASON
      @WHEREISTHEREASON 8 років тому

      I have no subscribers because I have no videos or desire to have subscribes. A lot can be discerned about a person's character by how they respond to constructive criticism. If you are satisfied with the quality of your videos and do not feel there can be any improvements then fine, ignore suggestions and go about your merry way. I paint portraits of people for a living and had to learn very early the importance of listening to criticism. If they don't like my work I don't get paid. You go ahead though and have at. Pandering to the low ball expectations of the average you-tube viewer is much less demanding I'm sure. And by the way; what's with capitalizing the first letter in every word?

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  8 років тому

      I'm very open to Constructive Criticism, that is how I successfully run my 4 businesses, however when some tells me I'm "hard tail yammering" as an opening comment, then you'll get me to fire back. I think that is great that you paint people and I wish you well in your business.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  8 років тому

      And the "view up some Yahoo's nostrils" was also a shot, don't you think?

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  7 років тому

      I'm not sure if this is a question for me, or "WhereIsTheReason", However an interesting comment, so I'd like to respond. I enjoy reading constructive criticism (it's help improve many of the videos), unless it's not regarding the cars, (example - what is happening with the Owners hair?) then there is no reason to respond. I do like your last sentence, "What is the point?" Here is several points to this Channel, 1) Leave a historical legacy of the cars so Car people can enjoy some of the cars they like, had an interested in, or dream of owning. 2) Meet great people who Own or take care of them and share in their joy of having the car. 3) Personally - learn about the cars from the people who have them and the Viewers 4) Have fun in the process. Lou
