Hey funk . I been doing this as a warm up started small now I can sprint almost 500m in 60 sec at 20/kmph . Thanks heaps for the awesome workouts
I love HITT training on the treadmill. This whips me back into shape fairly quickly and it motivates you to go harder each and everytime. 10 rounds and I am drenched in sweat, love it!!

Hey Coco - I am with 100 percent on sprinting outside, but weather puts up a barrier sometimes so you in order to breakthrough, the treadmill is the next best thing - Great 60-60 intervals too..good job - More to come

the treadmill sprints really make a big difference! funny thing is that people look at me and either dont know what im doing or shake their heads haha
I finally got the chance to try this interval out yestersay....but I did 1min on:1min off for 10 rounds...this was a great changeup to some of the other HITT in home dvds I've been doing. Thanks for this FUNK!

Hey Grizzly, I much prefer to run my sprints outside but up here in the great white north it's too cold and snowy at this time so the treadmill is the next best thing- Check out Sprint Interval Cardio Workout - Funk Roberts for the outdoor version. I have 5-6 sprint interval workouts - Hope that helps
This is gr8, I also amp up the incline to ~12-13% (clearly the mph comes down) and it's like I'm sprinting up hill--my lungs are on fiyah!!
Haha thanks Funk. Yes I find that whilst running on the tread the on screen pace is ridiculously fast. I agree that running outside after a couple of missed outdoor sessions is can be a mental shock but you've got to love feeling like a train when the world around you moves past your eyes.
So do you think a 1:1.5 ratio of run/rest is okay if I were to switch that full stop into a very mild jog?

Well Leroy, Very easy to answer. The treadmill is WAAAAAAAY easier than running outside. The treadmill is doing most of the work for you man. You are not using as much hams, quads, glutes, etc as outside. That is why you have to get outside and try to do your sprints on the track, grass, hill, whatever. (Sometimes you just have to use the treadmill and I understand since I live in the T-Dot) but I also do not try to get a false sense of security and the first session outside DESTROYS ME - LOL

Hey Funk Roberts I was wondering if you had any insights into why my lungs just feel like they can cope better on the treadmill during all outsprints. I do like the treadmill for interval work too but mostly because of the cleaner air (inner city air during the middle of the day is suffocating). Is it the air or is it just the belt "pushing your feet" that makes it easier?
Anyhow another short question, is it cool to put a longer mild jog in place of a stationary recovery?
I tried the kabata spartacus workout of 10 minutes, 10 different types of exercises, and it showed me that I am in a high conditioning state. I will update my other channel with the exercises I made.
Great advice, Funk! I've seen similar cardio treadmill workouts like yours, but they go for 1 minute sprints, then 1 minute rest periods. What do you think about 1 minute intervals?

Funk I need your advice! Lets say I wanna 8 sprints but only 6 of them are great form/ my best and then the other 2 are slower. should I just do 6 and save myself for another day or go to failure? I'm not sure on the rules with cardio and training to failure. If you could help it be appreciated.
I would do this 2X per week and cycle in some metabolic circuits..all depends on your goals though
yo funk roberts is it ok to do 1min sprint and 1min rest this is going to be my 4 day do in this work out i am just starting again i just run for about 1hr a day but i did this work out and the first 20 min was like my 1hr run lol just wondering thanks
Try 20s run, 10s rest 16 rounds. It is 8 min Tabata protocol. For you try speed at minimum 15km/h. Sport Greetings.

heyyy!!!! ok so I do the sprints a couple times a week before leg day usually. When I tell you I sweat so hard during the workouts that I do it before! I am so conscious of falling as I get on and off I don't even use music. I also do the same 30-30 using a jumpe rope and sweat my life away too, but not as much as I do when I run on the tread mill.

instead of stop running can i just walk the 30 secs?
Technically a "sprint is an "all out run" which would be risky on a treadmill. BUT!!! on a stair stepper it would be perfect. you can do 30 seconds regular pace jog then 30 second all out for twenty minutes.
youtube "adrian HIIT 40 min" if you want to change it up a bit. decreasing recovery time to increasing recovery time. 7 reps per set. 4 sets plus a bonus 3 sets if youre up for a challenge
Is it ok if you sprint for a 60 seconds, then instead of stopping, you either walk or jog for 60 seconds for active recovery?

Can I do this 6 times a week for an hour? I'm 265, 5'7 and I'm really trying to lose the weight.
can i do this on my off days? right now im doing full body workouts for strength and mass.
yup. it would be good to do this on your off days. perhaps just once a week or so with this workout if you're trying to focus on bulking or mostly strength and mass as doing this type of cardio may end up burning off some mass if done too much per week. maybe do this once per week then do lighter cardio on the other days. this exercise is great for cutting or trying to become leaner. perhaps don't do as many rounds or so if you are looking to keep up your bulk or just make sure you have enough caloric intake to handle the added HIIT cardio.
I do 5min sprints with no breaks in between and just stop after the 5min is up. I do this once a week. It feels good when I've got through it but I'm uncertain if it's bad to do straight off the bat without a workout or if I'm burning to much. Any advice?

Agreed. People don't understand the difference between aerobic and anaerobic. Sprinting is anaerobic.
I did this today but i made my intervals 1 minute long each. I did 10 intervals.
can we do 20 rounds? can we do 1 minute off 30seconds-1minute off?
