I never did play 2008 or 2009, so I enjoy videos like this. I got hooked into the Farming Simulator universe when I walked by Farming Simulator 2011 Platinum Edition sitting on the store shelf. I debated getting it. I didn't want to at first. As I inspected the packaging I was impressed, and surprised, by the real brands included with the game. When I first played it, I was shocked how detailed it was. I had never played a game like that before. Prior to Farm Sim, the only games I played were sub sims like the Silent Hunter series, combat flight sims, and of course The Elder Scrolls series. I did play console games quite a bit, back in the day, on systems like the PS2 and earlier. I haven't played on a console in years now. I live in a rural, and heavily agricultural area, so it was awesome to play a game like Farm Sim. I played 2013 when it came out, but never really got into 15. I played it a little bit, but by the time I got into 15, 17 was out. Watching this comparison video, there's a huge difference between 2008 and just 2011. I did go through awhile back and look at your other videos showcasing 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2013. It really is amazing how far Farm Sim has come. 2011 and 2013 look pretty dated compared to 17. 2008 looks like an alpha build. lol I was just thinking the other day how popular Farm Sim has gotten. It almost has a cult like following now. It's amazing how active the mod community is. Sorry for the long post, but this video got me all nostalgic for Farm Sim. lol
6 years and they still haven't implimented any gears to the tractors. Sure there is a gearbox mod (which I had to watch german tutorials to set it up without knowing any german) that I'm using, but it would be a nice thing to have it properly from the start because it's an essential part of "simulation". I like how in Euro Truck simulator you have multiple options for gearbox setups. You can go hardcore with realistic multiple gears and ranges setup or go simple with an automatic gearbox. Apart from that I don't have any complaints. Except the tree physics when using cranes. Bloody mess that one :D
I can't confirm this 100% but according to to some people wheel support isn't very good for the game still. If I had a wheel setup, which is what I want after GPU and Monitor upgrade, I'd love gears. It can't be to hard to do, if you don't like it or whatever just disable it.
There's my man. Then someone could make an actual wheel for farming simulator with couple of gearsticks, handthrottle, powershift transmission gear buttons, hydraulic switches, and actual clutch pedal and double brake pedals etc. Then I would like to see some new features to add depth and immersion to the gameplay. Features such as actually getting stuck to a wet field with a heavy tractor or actual damage to different parts of tractors or tools if you crash those.
I think a lot more work needs to be done to the physics engine in order for some of what you want to be implemented. Parts being replaced, not really to sure whether I like or dislike the idea, certainly not a bad one. Ah, getting stuck... I would LOVE a tow bar/chain along with when purchasing some vehicles a Winch upgrade is available. Nothing along the lines of Spintires is needed and especially to the point where a good area can turn to complete trash to go through, maybe a leveled to make it back to normal could work. Early game... combine gets stuck going up a small hill while harvesting, the little tractors aren't pulling it out, hook up a chain to the back of the combine, early game tractors should have winch, hook winch to other tractor and pull it out. Plus.. tires need to make a difference, whether small or minor. Making grip a bigger part of the game would be great. Right now how much you can pull is almost purely down to horse power, weight is a factor but isn't nearly as big as horsepower. I think this needs change. Also as of now you can easily just drive a Semi through a field with 50,000 grain in it and it not get stuck, it is a simulator, realism needs to be taken a bit seriously.
Yeah. I'm a little dissapointed if giants doesn't impliment something that adds more realism. I will skip the next Farming sim in that case because I don't want FS19 to be basically the same game only with some minor graphic improvements and more licensed brands. I want field working to be more than just a "W" simulator.
Yo one thing I want to mention, Spintires got picked up by Focus Home Interactive and has a Spintires game releasing, actually, the physics in FS19 should be far superior I hope with this addition
I really enjoyed the video! something different from you. I started playing the series at FS 2011. i have never played the 2008 but i did try 2009. I was blown away in FS 2011 it was just so much fun and in my opinion it was better than fs 2013 in many ways. fs17 is awesome but i think they need to do a bit of a change and make the ground more like what Cattle and Crops are doing. I think the 1st person in the tractor needs to be updated (as anyone knows when you drive a tractor you dont just stay still in the same spot lol) they the seats to move, like many mods do. I dont think i look forward to a new game more than a new FS game and seeing what tractors and other machines will be in the next one! I enjoy the game even though i do alot of this stuff in real life so i guess it must be good!
I started playing farming simulator 2009 back in 2010 and I was just amazed to find an actual farming game... It was something I had never seen or even heared of before so to find one was really something special. I spent so much time playing it for years and I've been a fan ever since
I have only played 11, which I bought when 13 was out because it was cheaper, then I preordered 17 when it came out. The difference in those two games in crazy as well. These older game revisits are amazing to remind us where it started. Its also funny to look back and the first thing you notice is the graphics and wonder how you ever played such a game, but at the time it didnt bother anybody.
Every now and then I see a thread where people say that the game hasn't changed that much over the years. I normally try to respond with a comment, and start debating them, providing numerous examples. Instead, now I think I will just past them this link to this video. This is awesome.
Great video Daggerwin, i never seen fs08. In fact the first one that i seen and played was fs15. Farm Sim has sure come a long way. Thank you for doing this comparison with the differences.
I was 5 or 6 when i played the 2008 version and i remember getting stuck at the port :D i also played 2011, 2013, 2015 and now 2017 and yeah for that time it was really good. I also remember calling my brother on the phone asking what i should buy with my money in the 2011 version. Nice video!
Nice video. Nevertheless, at the time that LS2008/FS2008 was released, we were playing the game SimTractor that wasn't looked bad at that time. Also, the interiors and some features were more detailed than the first Farming Simulator. Don't forget it. RIP SimTractor.
I remember everytime my mom went to work around 8 p.m.. my dad allowed me to play this game.. i was 10 years old.. I harvested the big field at the port.. i played it for hours and hours.. good old days 😢❤
fs11 was what had me addicted to the fs series. at the time i thought farming simulator couldnt get any better,i was amazed with fs11. I have had every fs game from 2011 to 2019 and so on.
toy should show how the games progressed and when they were added to different platforms and what was added between each game and what the DLC's in each game added as well as what maps and free mods giants added to each game. love this vid. would of being better comparing the 08 kit to the similar sized and make 17 kit
My first game was fs11. And from that I've had fs11, fs13, fs13 titanium edition, fs15, fs15 gold edition and fs17. It has became always better. A very big progress.
I still miss the old pda they removed after 2013. It really was a good time saver, instead of the pause menu for prices, map, and info. Other then that, they really did a great job since I started playing back in fs 11.
I started when 2009 came... It was amazing... I remember when 2011 came and it was even better... In my opinion 2011 is the best one, we just got some DLCs and animals, does anyone remember the easter egg when you press honk key on cows they will make sounds.. :D And the legendary milk truck.. Old good memories...
My first Farming simulator was 2009 and I loved it! Then I had farming simulator 2013 but my parent's PC was to slow to run it... Then I had fs 15 and now fs 17. I'm looking forward to fs 19!!!
the first farming sim i played was 13, and 17 is an improvement in every single way except AI cars, you could push them out of the way before. now days they drive on rails and act as solid objects
When I was at university (atound 1995) and being a huge farming fan, I got the idea of making such a game, but always thought there wouldn't be people who would want this ... :-/
My love/hate relationship with Farming Simulator, It still feels like modders work way more than Giants, the game has evolved VERY slowly, I mean its been over 10 versions of Farming Simulator (including Platinium/Gold editions but not other DLCs). The last version I bought was FS13 Platinium, which left me unimpressed, specially the fact that you had 600HP tractors available, but no implement that actually needed that amount of power. This year I got FS17, Im impressed by the amount of machinery included (mainly tractors), and I like that you can now transport animals, but apart form that, no extra features where added. The price of the game btw has raised incredibly. I could talk a lot about what I feel the game is lacking, but its mostly polishing, dumb things like Crop rows not aligning with the planters and harvesters, the hired workers still don't know how to use offset machinery properly (trailed potato harvesters), but I still buy the game, mods fix it for me. I do get bored of the base game pretty quickly, seasons improved the game tremendously to me. Im exited for new challengers, like Real Farm (BTW its commercial appeared before this video) and Pure Farming (which will feature coffee farms and loads of different crops). If people buy this games the same way the bought the meh looking FS 2008 and 2009 , they might have enough money to get going, and improve their game over and beyond Giants, which will force Giants to work harder on FS19 too so everybody wins.
CoD VS Farming Simulator ... CoD always the same the setting was different. FS: With each version it became better and better. Hopefully also in the next version
i have played little bit 2009, 2011, then lots of 2013 ( pc and xbox 360 ) i had titanium edition for both platforms, 2015 i only had xbox 360 ( my pc wasnt enough power to run it ) and currently i am playing 2017 xbxox one. so far i am not sure will i buy 2019 ( maybe i start to be too old gamer, since i start gaming for pc 1987 )
Now that took me back very interesting how its evolved over the years.
makes you appreciate what a top notch sim we have right now to enjoy.
I absolutely love how they implemented the modding option on the console versions of fs17. I got the game 3 days ago and I'm soo addicted

I started with FS2011: Platinum Edition as well and I've not been the same ever since!
Syxx_Killer a
Syxx_Killer agreed
I started with 11 too, but not platinum. I have 15 right now and want to get 17 soon.
I started with 13, then went to 15, and have since moved to 17. 13 does look fairly dated compared to 17.
This was a great idea for a vid. Well done.

Never played 13 much but loved 15 and love 17 keep up the good work
Great vid Dagger. Very well done. Farming Simulator has really come a long way. Gets me excited for the future!

Nice flashback, Thanks.
I started with 2013, and it may take some time after release for me to save up but I'll have 2019 as well.
I was 5 or 6 when i played the 2008 version and i remember getting stuck at the port :D i also played 2011, 2013, 2015 and now 2017 and yeah for that time it was really good. I also remember calling my brother on the phone asking what i should buy with my money in the 2011 version. Nice video!

My first farm sim was 09 and it was awesome. I still remember the amount of hours i spent playing this game
i Play this game since FS 2009... i remember…. "dont drive to fast" xd :D
I remember everytime my mom went to work around 8 p.m.. my dad allowed me to play this game.. i was 10 years old..
I harvested the big field at the port.. i played it for hours and hours.. good old days 😢❤
Oh the memories. Yes Farming Simulator has indeed came a long ways.
cool video Daggerwin. i really enjoyed this
I remember when i download FS 8 from the torrent and when i start play the game it was miracle for me
It was like iam playing GTA 5
fs11 was what had me addicted to the fs series. at the time i thought farming simulator couldnt get any better,i was amazed with fs11. I have had every fs game from 2011 to 2019 and so on.
I still play fs 11 😂

fun to see how much has happened since it started
Forgot to mention Forestry was added in too.
Yeah I totally agree with the Trolls Giants haven't changed anything in the last 8 years !
My first game was fs11. And from that I've had fs11, fs13, fs13 titanium edition, fs15, fs15 gold edition and fs17. It has became always better. A very big progress.
I remember always playing this after school, Good times!
very cool video id like to see more like this
I still miss the old pda they removed after 2013. It really was a good time saver, instead of the pause menu for prices, map, and info. Other then that, they really did a great job since I started playing back in fs 11.
I remember first getting 08. And I remember thinking how top of the line it was. And boy have we come a LOONG way!
Farming Simulator 2008 is old & first farming sim. of the generation (fs08 started with 2 combines, fs17 started with 1 combine )
well its so that you would have to work to a better combine
I started when 2009 came... It was amazing... I remember when 2011 came and it was even better... In my opinion 2011 is the best one, we just got some DLCs and animals, does anyone remember the easter egg when you press honk key on cows they will make sounds.. :D And the legendary milk truck.. Then I had farming simulator 2013 but my parent's PC was to slow to run it...
Then I had fs 15 and now fs 17.
I'm looking forward to fs 19!!!
@Daggerwin, Think I still may have some old LS08 mods on my pc. Remeber adding the mods via notepad and game files!
Do a 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 15 and 17 comparison.
Also a great video.
Do you think Farming Simulator 2019 will come out?
Johan Karlsson yes
i think it will come out. be a maverick
Greetings from the future.
It has changed alot since FS15. I love the FS games.
How about going from the fist fs17 game and going through all the changes from game to game. Until you get to 17.
Cool video! What a change!!!
the first farming sim i played was 13, and 17 is an improvement in every single way except AI cars, you could push them out of the way before. now days they drive on rails and act as solid objects
I have been playing since 2008 and boy the changes!
Childhood reunited.. Ah..
I had played EVERY Farming Simulator game since 2008 or 2009.
i loved evry farming playt 2008 2009 2011 2013 2015 and 2017 :D
When I was at university (atound 1995) and being a huge farming fan, I got the idea of making such a game, but always thought there wouldn't be people who would want this ... :-/
great sim I started with Farming Simulator 2011
Great video for 2008 but I still like FS17
Oh the memories!!!

My 1st FS was 2013. Gotta say, didn't like how dead the American map was. Yet the Germany map was green and lively.
Glad 15 and 17 got green.
yeah I remember thinking how awesom the farming simulator 2008 looked especially after simtractor
I played 09, 11, 13, 15, 17 but no 08
Same
2008 was actually a demo of 2009... and 2009 was heavily modded! (patch was a must have!)
You Could Do Farming Simulator 17 vs Real Life. The Physics And Everything!
What times.. I remember when i played fs 2008, it was the german version, it was pretty hard to play it because i didn't know german :D .
Wow would be fun to do a play through on 2008 just for the experience lol
I started playing farming simulator on mobile. The first farming simulator that I played was farming simulator 14
My first farming sim was 07... Buggy but worth the play :)
2011 vs 2017. would love to see that.
Ls 08 best ls ever! I love this game
I started with 2013 and was always interested in what 08 had to offer. I hope giants has a computer that has nothing but FS2008 on it.
Can you please do Farming Simulator 2011 Extended edition and Farming Simulator 15? (those are the 2 farming simulators i hapersonally)
My first one was FS2009. Seems like FS2008 looks same as FS2009(FS2009 is more polished probably).
and a shop, balling, a lot of different equipment and so on.. it was quite a huge "upgrade" back then...
15,17,19 are my favorites
I Play Farming Simulator since 2008
I agree people do make fun of 08 but as you said it was the building blocks for the rest (minus the mobile trash in my opinion)
Daggerwin you would be great at being an online tutor for stuff or a presenter
Just shows you how diforent both games are and that you can do lots more in 2017 than what you could in fs08
Good vid daggerwin
I started with farming simulator 2013
Great idea for a video but you should work on your camera movements, I got dizzy after the first minute.
But, did you ever play "SimTractor"? I remember that game was a big part of my childhood xD
Wow big change
You should do a video of all the versions all the way up
I played since 2008 release and i learnd 4 days ago that you can pack tap xD
i was playing the Gold version of fs2008 and i still think that it`s a better game than all the fs that followed
i started playing farming sim with 09 gold edition after a friend told me to get it :D
I kinda like That first game
Bruhh when the first farming sim game came out i had 3 months lol
CoD VS Farming Simulator ... CoD always the same the setting was different. FS: With each version it became better and better. Hopefully also in the next version
How do you get such smooth gameplay
I have played fs 09
I started whit farming-simulator 2009 ☺
You should do the hole series.
PLEASE leave a link for to buy the app or disc
Are you gonna get 2019 farming simulator
I was 6 years old when it came out
Zandre Vonk i was 7
Zandre Vonk so your 13
No I was born in 2002 and fs08 came out when I was 6 years old and I am now 15 years old
Damn I feel old
remeber when me and my friends played fs 11 for hours
I wish John Deere would give a license to Giants.
I guess that Farming simulator 2008 was haunted by ghosts... 👻😱
Awsome!!!!!
hey dagger remember me from a year ago
Been here since 3k
i never know the have a fs08 :o , I ve started play with the fs09 and i think they was the first.
I started with FS 2009 and at that time there many more mods for FS 2008 than FS 2009.
You should try SimTractor
I was only 8 when fs 2008 was released and I had a PC that couldn't run it that well
I started farming simulatorer on 09
i have played little bit 2009, 2011, then lots of 2013 ( pc and xbox 360 ) i had titanium edition for both platforms, 2015 i only had xbox 360 ( my pc wasnt enough power to run it ) and currently i am playing 2017 xbxox one. so far i am not sure will i buy 2019 ( maybe i start to be too old gamer, since i start gaming for pc 1987 )
I have FS 2009. Not a bad game. If Im lucky I would want to play FS 17.
