  • First, the news was that Caitlin Clark simply didn't make the cut for the 2024 Olympic team. Then there were rumblings she was an alternate. And now, it's looking like someone might step aside so she has a spot.

@NickiSwift the only rookie I want to see is Li Y. 💜💛🌟 from the LA SPARKS 💜💛🌟 because she's playing for her home country China and she is definitely an epic player who well, y'all need to watch Li and all of the rookies in the league weather they're in the Olympics or not because this is only the first half of the season. Y'all have until a little after September starts to check out a game and pick a team any team and have fun oh and bring the family.

Yes, but it is getting a little late to do that. She hasn't practiced with the team and doesn't know their plays or anything. It would be a shame to add her at the last minute and then not use her much. But knowing Caitlin she'd find a way to make herself useful.

@@1flash3571 I understand and pretty much agree. But team chemistry is still important if the competition is competitive. That takes a little time, even for the pros. The women will benefit because their global competition is pretty much non-existent That will hide a ton of flaws. The men, when the global pool of talent catches up, will lose. Even our men's NBA player started losing on the world stage because they didn't play together all year like many of the Euro national teams.

It's the Olympics? Olympics has always gotten mass attention and worldwide. Loads of people who doesn't watch a lot of sports in general, are willing to watch Olympic sports in those times whenever they can (best players in the games and that goes for all the Olympic sports and people want to see the best of the best). Plus, women's basketball is worldwide and well known from many other countries that play it and as a popular sport. Also, from many of those countries, the WNBA is highly regarded, well known to them, and the main goal to play for the WNBA. The WNBA is and will be fine for them and for international sports fans (though yes, I've heard it's hard for them to watch the games, but are die hard fans of their WNBA teams). It's mostly the lot of new people who are watching professional sports for the very first time, think the WNBA is in a little bubble and not having a clue what professional sports is in general. Also, the WNBA has nothing to do with the Olympic games. They're completely two different organizations.

Also, did everyone just forget that CC couldn't do the Olympic tryouts (I think even invited for the tryouts as well)? She choose to continue play for her team to try to get the Championship. Two things happening at the same time, can only do 1 thing. So the whole backlash thing did confuse me. In 4 years time, she'll be on the Olympic team and by then, she'll be a Vet (given for some random reason, people who are new to watching any professional sports, thinks that only playing for 3 years, players are consider as old to them, given the certain attitudes many people have on the other experience players who aren't rookies nor vets). People just needs to be patience rather than demanding and wanting instant gratifications. Playing for any sports for any players, can take some time to get what they want.

for sure...she will be benched by cheryl REEVE..AS Reeve openly declared her ANIMOSITY with CAITLIN CLARK..

I agree: Stay home. Don't do the team any favors. Fever has a chance of moving up in the playoffs roster. I believe the Paris games will be a distraction from the playoffs+ team building.

Caitlin Clark should turn down any request to be on the Olympic team and Team USA. She would not “fit” with the players who are on these teams and would be shunned by the favored players who are there now. It is a shame that this hate and jealousy would influence the outcome of such important games but it is true. Caitlin would not be able to play the game if she doesn’t get the ball in her hands.

Clark & Reese should go, & leave Taurasi & Griner home.... (as they are injured),...
DT & BG don't need another ring.... But for the sake of legacy, Clark should be on this team to Paris. Reese going wont hurt anything either.
Also, if we want to send a good message about how former rivals can come together to represent the USA, Clark & Reese, on the court together is the way to do it!! It could be such a beautiful thing.

to me she should say no way but her personality won't allow her to say that so if asked she will go even though i wish she wouldn't. but i think it will be great for the team for her to go because the worldwide fans will go and watch. their games will be watched more than any one before. better have a lot of merch to sell so not to look like her own team to sell a limited CC jersey and it sold out in 18 minutes and no restock or at the beginning even Nike dropped the ball at first because her merch sold out also. look at Wilson and the CC balls. all are sold out.

I think she should join an olympic team. The team clostest to American talent, and play with them. Then they will beat the American tean because the coach and team mates will help her instead on hinder her

Her agent can state Caitlin doesn't have to play more than 20 minutes a game. They usually rotate players so everyone plays.

They should relegated to RECOMMENDING a lineup, maybe a few options… but then the grown ups should have made the decision.
