    I danced with Jean Veloz once. She was in her eighties by that time but she was probably the best follow I've ever led. Smooth, intuitive to the point of reading my mind as to what I was going to do next. Wonderful experience.

    My parents and aunts and uncles were of this generation (dad born 1914.) They used to have big dance halls back then so dancing was a regular activity. I recall wedding dances when they were in their late middle age -- but they could all dance in swing style with supreme command of how to do it. They had the feel for that kind of music and how to move to it -- the music of their era when they were in their youth. It was quite awe inspiring. There will never again be people alive who could move to that music in such an authentic way.

    Jean had incredible presence and took on a terrific swing stance when she danced. I love the way she kept her back tight and tall with her head back following the air of the swing ! My favorite part is that awesome dead stop and then the sexy wink .....perfection on the floor ! Her beautiful white pleated skirt moving to the groove and two amazing guys keeping the rhythm of her "dilemma" ! Great fun ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    I've just come here from the colourised Stormy Weather video that's gone viral and wow what a song! Can someone explain what "Get the gate" means? It was a line sung in the other video too

    • @waldolydecker8118
      @waldolydecker8118 2 роки тому +1

      It means to "break up" with a dating/marriage partner. Its a reference to the gate or fence around your house. Someone "gets the gate" or is "given the gate" when the relationship breaks up and they are kicked out of the house. Their last steps off the property when they pack and leave is thru the gate....hence the slang term.

    I remember Marilyn Maxwell, I was lucky to be born in that era, Marilyn appeared with Bob Hope a lot later on Radio and TV and I remember Kay Kyser from the movies and radio, They did a small comedy routine and surprisingly it did not get censored, Bob told her to stick her hand in his pocket and asked her what she felt and can't remember what she said but he told her to go down a little further and she would feel nuts. it had two meanings, depends were your mind was. PS I remember now what she said," I feel Silly"

    Black and white cinematography is beautiful. Black and white cinematography does not need to be "improved" by being colorized. Also, this colorized version stinks. Every person has the same peach skin tone. The movie wasn't shot in color, it was shot in black and white, so please keep it that way. Three-strip technicolor or bust.

      Also keep in mind that there were already color films being released during this time.

      @@Voucher765 And those color films look great because they were INTENDED to be shot in color. This just looks uneven with unnatural, orange skin tones.

      What bothers me most here is that the AI colorization can't decide where Marilyn Maxwell's dress begins and her skin starts, and keeps trying to make her chest blue.
