We would all love to see a flip through of the new level K, also I'm right there with ya. I can't ever get enough of homeschool book hauls....I also have a strange obsession with workbooks. I don't know what it is, I have ALWAYS loved school supplies but there's just something about flipping through a brand new workbook!!!!! 🥴😅
Thanks for the peek into different possibilities ☺️. I consider homeschool curriculum not only something I need to do, but allocate hobby money towards it because sometimes you just want it on your shelf😊.
Would love to see a video on how you get through so much! So much I want to do for homeschool but between chaos from the littles and many of my children requiring one on one attention for the basics, and other mom duties, I find I always run out of time (& energy!).
This is so timely- thank you! 🙏🏼 My husband and I are discussing putting our kids in the local public school next year, because now that we also have an infant, I am really struggling to organize, afford and utilize a curriculum for our other three kiddos. You are inspiring me to push forward and keep going! 💗
Yes! Keep going, and understand that it is 100% ok for you to do a scaled back year of schooling. Lots of time outdoors and read alouds are SO good for your kids.
You can do it! Have a gentler year, read together, go outside, you can't get the time together back but you can make up later for any areas you went lighter on, and you will know what they are when you homeschool.
You can do it! Keep those heads up. I would save some money throughout the year so that way you can set aside for curriculum ago and the beautiful is the most cost effective just go with them if not I hear people doing work books from brain quest and then things that they have laying around the house. Check out the family that learns UA-cam they do stuff like that.
Keep Going!!!! You can do it! Truly, even if you just get to Language Arts, Reading, and Math for each individual child, and then do a group history and science to keep your schedule simple! You can do it!
Keep going! Also maybe check into state education scholarships. I'm from Arizona and just applied for the ESA scholarship program through the Arizona Department of Education. They give a certain amount of money per quarter to help with homeschool expenses. It's worth checking to see if your state offers something like that
For your logic course for the girls you could look into getting them the novel "Sophie's world" by Jostein Gaarder. It's a philosophical novel geared towards teenager and I absolutely loved it when I was younger. I really think you would like how it approaches philosophy through storytelling.
In my 23 years of homeschooling, I have found The Fallacy Detective to be my favorite, most reliable logic resource, which we begin in the 7th grade. Prior to that, our children go through the Mark K. Schoenfield series: Playing with Logic, Discovering Logic, and Adventures with Logic. You may find that some of the arguments in Illustrated Bad Arguments are not solid examples of the fallacies they represent. You will spot those right away and can make changes. Thanks for the art History recommendation. It looks wonderful and easy to incorporate into our school year.
What's different about their new format may I ask? Other than being spiral bound lol. I tried one of the science units a couple of years ago and found all of the extras too much for us. So please tell me that is what changed haha.
@@rebeccaernst6634 so the format is similar but having the student pages already separated and put together is a major time saver for me. They have a flip through on their page! I've tried alot of science over the last 9 years and this one has the least amount of extras at least for our family, I just drop anything that I don't want too lol
My 11yo son, standing over my shoulder, "Mom, I need a new audiobook. Do you have any good ideas?" Angie says, "These Edge of Extinction books came very highly recommend from RAR." Me, "Why, yes sir, I do." 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
TGTB has updated paleontology and are updating all units to look like that! They’ve improved the units and added the student journals! I’m going to do paleontology this year as well, first time with TGTB. We have the dinosaur answers or info book from Ken Ham, MasterBooks, already and it’s a great resource. We were just reading it tonight to find answers about when did dinosaurs go extinct?
Yes, please! I would love to see the new LA Kindergarten curriculum from the Good and the Beautiful! I used Abeka last year for my son in Kinder, and it worked well, but we are trying some of the math and science TGTB curriculum and I would like to see if I would prefer their Kinder curriculum for my daughter next year. Love your videos! Thanks!
I love the new TGTB science format! We just started motion and simple machines and the lessons take 20 minutes as opposed to 40 minutes with me all over the place. I don't dread teaching science now. And I would love an update on the new LA. I have gotten the new LA4 and LA5 recently and have loved the formats on those. Also, the new TGTB preschool is amazing! The videos and songs are the key to it I think and it truly is the highlight of my day...highly recommend!!!
My kids LOVED the edge of extinction books. I already downloaded and started new language arts level 1 with my 7 year old and we are LOVING it. She can read through several AAR level 1 stories, but TGTB covers some LA concepts earlier than AAR, so I went with level 1 for her because I could download it free. I did NOT like their original LA for grades up to level 4 before this, so I was just teaching my kids to read with a mixture of Montessori, AAR methods, and good ole momma know-how. I’m so glad for the changes now. It’s simple enough we can add to it if we want without feeling like busy work.
I've done the Money Matters book with a few of my kids. It's good, however getting outdated. How many checks get written anymore? When was the last time you bought a cassette player? So this year we switched to Dave Ramsey's homeschool curriculum for teens. Very good!
I totally agree about the book obsession. We don't homeschool but I watch hauls and buy books like I do!! Nature is my biggest weakness. You should check out Sharing Nature with Children. (Unless I heard about it from you...).
I am so thankful for your videos as a homeschool resource! My oldest is going into first grade, and sometimes I feel a bit over my head. I would love to see a review of that Good and Beautiful Language Arts curriculum, that looks like a good resource!
The Cottage Press Sentence Sense book is excellent! We used it with their Bards & Poets curriculum last year and loved it. I never hear it mentioned, but it is an excellent curriculum.
Lady, you are dangerous! I should know to get ready to spend money when I watch one of your homeschool hauls! Some of those books look like treasures that we NEED! Thank you for sharing! 😁
Love your energy and fun personality. Your children are very lucky to have you ❤️. Can you explain how to do nature studies? I always hear about them on the homeschool channels but don’t know exactly how to go about doing it?
Yes! We would love to see a flip-through of the new TGAB K Curriculum! I am trying to make a decision to see if I should switch to the new from the old next year!
Have your boys read the I survived books? They’re historically based you could expand on them really easily! I’m a big sucker for books and have way too many of them!
I’m doing paleontology with my 4 year old and she’s loving it. I find this science unit very adaptable and not honestly pretty easy student note book wise.
Thanks for this! I ordered the Outdoor Scientist! My little ones will love this. I also added the arguments book to the list for a bit later as mine are yery young still.
The money matter for Teen book was a good idea but the assignments in there are off the wall. We didn’t enjoy it near as much as we hoped we would. The little lessons are fun though. They don’t necessarily dive into one particular thing too deeply but it gives a good “overall” explanation to banking and debt. The activities tho were just too out there for us. Example: one activity for the lesson was (paraphrasing) “take your parents credit card and give yourself a budget to go buy something and you have to pay it back before interest happens” and “tell your parents you will do the budget and the bills for 1 whole week without their help”. Just some really weird assignments. But we made modifications to them and made it work. I’m sure you will too 🙃 But it certainly wasn’t our favorite.
I have some questions on starting homeschool. We have 2 girls, one going into seventh and once going into first. We’ve talked about homeschool off and on for years, our 6 year old is a super social human. What do you do in those instances? Also, any suggestions on dipping your toes in before you jump in the deep end?
Yes please: kindergarten level flip through. Question: How did you start teaching penmanship and reading? My daughter is 28 months and is starting to spell. I'd like to capture this moment of interest and provide her with practical assistance.
Hi Angela, first and foremost, thank you for all of your videos. You do amazing work and it goes much appreciated. I have a quick question: my son is 2 and a half and I am 95% sure we will homeschool (gotta leave room). I am very interested in your 6 week course. However, I was hoping you could help me get a better grasp for when your course would be more appropriate? Should I wait until he is closer to 4? Is it never too early to start? I am new to homeschooling, first child, first home school.. and I am sorry if I missed an explanation for this kind of question here or elsewhere. I hope my question makes sense. I appreciate any and all advice! Many thanks if you took the time to read and respond.
What do you do or how do you teach subjects you don’t necessarily agree with? For example: evolution, what if you don’t believe in the evolution theory but your child still needs to know it, how do you handle that?
If anyone is looking for available content now, TGTB have their own YT channel, and Project Happy Home on YT does wonderful detailed informative flip throughs of lots of different curricula 😍
