Honestly, I think Hollywood in general is out of touch with reality.
It’s hard to pull off feminism if people feel it is fake. She should make better choices in every day life if this is the route she wants to take.
Before I say what I’m going to say, Katy has the choice to make w/e music she wants. But I think she really needs to stop with the political messaging in her music. She’s not Kendrick, or Common or Gaga. Make the fun pop bops b/c witness proved we don’t care for this attempt at feminism from her.

I love seeing women wake up to the fact that the whole girl boss movement was put in place by “the powers that were” decades ago just to create more corporate workers… unplug from this dying system! The song is just BAD - lyrically, musically. Cher had a EDM-flavored lead single called “Woman’s World” a long time ago. That version gets stuck in my head whenever I see anything about Katy’s version 😂

I'm dying at the fact that so many stans on Twitter were claiming this song was going to debut #1.....Now it seems like Katy wants to forget the single altogether, AND her stans are claiming this is only a promotional single and Lifetime will be the lead single. LOL.
Social media hype, especially on Twitter, should not be a measured of any sorts. Two failed albums should have been an indication for Katy that no one is checking for her music anymore. She should've stayed on American Idol! She does not have the capability to reinvent her sound and image like her counterparts: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and even Kesha.
Even Kesha flopped with her new song. No one talk about her unless if it's for spiting Katy herself. And Beyonce didn't do well with Cowboy Carter (already out of the top 50). For the others quoted artists i agree

The feminism today is not “soft” its real and not surface level thats the difference…. Women should be able to have a choice. Women have the right to be individuals. At the end of the day feminism is women supporting other women which Katy does NOT do.

Katy did say that the first part of the video in the shorts and Rosie the Riveter imagery is a parody of the male gaze. Then the second half of the video is meant to be actually empowering. Whether people agree is a different thing. But the "male gaze" opening is supposedly intentional.

Though I'm frustrated that women set themselves back so much in recent years, I'm hoping it will act as a slingshot to help us quickly realign with our true power. Refusing to acknowledge how essential men are, will never make us better woman. We can't do everything men can do, not even close, and that's okay! (And of course there are exceptions) but in general, it doesn't make us any less essential! We each have our divine purpose here.
