like a lot of people I thought powder coating was some dark art.. but what a brilliant system, simply & clearly explained .. many thanks, now just need to build myself an oven
Brilliant system. Like it. Hope they get loads of orders now, I like supporting smaller British businesses. Good luck to them. And, you answered my question of yesterday Martin - thanks.
i been coating at home for over 20yrs n thought id give you few tips .when you finished giving a coat of powder get a led torch n look over the peice you covered it will show up where you havent put enough powder on as in the bare metal will stand out through the lighter coating . also ive found for best results after you clean the part put it in the oven for 10 minutes on 300f or 150c that will get rid of every single bit of dust ect and if you coat the part while its slightly warm you can then put a 2nd coat on which gives it a way better finish .the good thing bout coating is if you make a small mistake let the part cool for 12 hours then rub it back with 800 paper then clean and recoat .you think its fun now wait till you do two tone metalics with clear coat it looks way better than 2pac paint .you can also spray paint parts then powder coat clear them so you can get whatever colour you need if your matching car parts to its paint colour .hope this helps you in future .have fun
I've been using the Electrostaticmagic Easycoat system for 5 years, I've done loads of parts for my kit car. I've never had a problem contacting the team, they always have answered the phone and give great advice whenever I've asked for it. Great results but of course the end results directly depends on the amount of preparation of the parts. Good video.
BRILLIANT video Martin its as simple as you say, this is a must for anyone wanting to do diy powder coating. Bought one and WOW with unbelievable results.
Cheers for the great video. As an earlier comment says you should be on TV. I have been trawling powder coating vids online for some time learning all the tricks. Your vids the best. One guy actually had a great tip. He bought one of those cheap counter top ovens off amazon. Uses it for smaller parts like you just demonstrated. Saves on electricity. Thought that tip was worth passing on. Cheers.
Hi Martin i watched your youtube channel on how to do decals to vinyl. so you taught me how to do those. Now i am watching this video of yours on powder coating and once again you are showing me to powder coat for the first time. love watching all your videos and keep up the good work mate
Can't wait to use mine. I got the kit from them yesterday at the show st the nec. Picked up a second hand oven today. Not tested yet. Need to find it a place and wire it in. Then onto powercoating the lawnmower parts
There's something so satisfying about sand blasting and powder coating and with the finish on both of them, it's also reassuring to know it's a job well completed. Great video Martin.
Amazing job mate, when I was a lad 60 odd years ago we were mixing cellulose paints and thinners when I was working as a trainee panel beater, 75 now but still keep up with new ways of doing things, great video.
nice video. i do powdercoating also at home. a tip: after you cleaned the part and prebaked it go over it with a butane gas hobby torch before you put the powder on you will burn al the dust particals of you get a cleaner result. greetings from holland. cheers.
I've been using this system for a few years now and found it absolutely great..Had a small problem with the gun and Carl sorted it for me and have had no problems since.
I thank you Martin for your very informative video, I for one have always been baffled 😮 when it comes to powdered coating but you have made it sound so simple. Cheers mate 😊
I've been interested in powder coating ever since I started restoring my classic cars and hated the paint jobs on some of the parts. I've been looking at powder coating for some time now but your video sold me over. The company needs to thank you for the sale as I immediately purchased the machine on line 👌
Really good knowledge Martin and you have taken the lid off powder coating for many of us,one thing that is important for aircraft restorers is that powder coating is not allowed on any aircraft components, the CAA at least in the UK put out a circular a while back,I would imagine that it could hide cracks on components and make non destructive testing impossible,I am only speaking from a UK perspective not sure how this applies in other countries.
Great video, thank you. I just managed my first powder coat using the same gun and thanks to your great video - it was a success :) cheers and good luck
I’ve just started powdercoating made two ovens one big and one small I was at a classic car show and seen the powdercoating system you got so I brought one My first attempt was a push bike frame and was a little hazy and on your video you explain it Having a go at some steel wheels this weekend so be having fun
Great video instruction, and very enthusiastically presented too keeping it interesting and informative. I purchased the same kit at the last Kit Car show at Stoneleigh. They are great people to deal with and whenever you need new supplies of powder or containers etc,.. they send them out as quickly as possible so they are genuine in their back up service. 100% to both Martin and Electrostaticmagic !!
Bloody hell!! That skit is amazing... I've never understood powder coating until now! I have a mountain bike that is powder coated and I never understood why it withstood such hard knocks, and now I do!! What an excellent product and video. Thank you for this Martin 👏👏😃
What an amazing system and I love to support a more local businesses... I'll be definitely buying one of these. Another brilliant video Martin thank you.
Great video! Finally someone showing the non electric coating gun compared to the electric ones.... Been considering one of these for down the line one day, but wasn't sure of them.... All I coat up to now though, are fishing jig heads using the fluid bed way.... What I do want to see if possible, is a demo of the colours... silvers, chromes, metallics, glitters etc, for ideas for my jig heads for fishing....
Very good video. Thumbs up. Finally a good review on this powder gun and how it works compared to other diy systems on the market. Electrostatic Magic ship to others countries as well. Bought my first bags of powder from them and I’m located in Denmark. Good luck with your small projects.
Martin, Just noticed the water filter is on the wrong way round. According to the info on the back of my water filter packaging, same as yours Air in ie, from the compressor, goes in the blue end and air out is the silver end after passing through the filter element, then to the gun. Not too sure if it works in reverse. I keenly follow all three of your channels BTW. Regards Geoff
I love 💕 your channels martin. I love 💗 Sharon as well, you two are just so amazing. This system is amazing. I always thought powercoat was some big protected secret. Turns out it’s quite simple. Love you guys.
Best video on powder coating I found with out all the faffing about. I watch your lawnmower channel so I trusted what you were saying. One thing I'm curious about after watching the company video on their website was the wood and glass coating, how does the powder stick to these items as they are non conductive. I will be buying this product in the future so a thumbs up from me.
@@retrorestore That would be cool thank you. Seemed to take well to them on the video but a full tutorial from you would be more informative . Thank you.
love the powder coating videos now have my own gun nordicpulver after seeing how easy it can be would like to see more on powder coating shelf life and such like
@@ausdim only used the nordicpulver for child’s scooters etc but always been pleased still used regularly no issues just keep your powder dry hope it helps
I've just purchased one from there website and have been wanting to have a go for years,I've also got the black, the white and the chrome so hurry with some more videos Martin lol
Martin you do the best videos of showing how just an ordinary person can get on with these sort of projects. Do you think you could give a demo on how durable it is regards knocks and scrapes maybe with petrol etc.
New to this powder coating malarkey, so could you let me know what you needed beyond the kit. Oh and what type of compressor to use? Make and model, or even just the one you used. Any help would be really appreciated mate 👍
To answer the question, yes it does leave a tiny bit of bare metal. The trick is to use really thin wire that can still support the part's weight, and hang it from an area that won't show.
Hi Martin after our chat stream yesterday, I realised I missed this powder coating oven and powder coating series, I watched the lot last night, I’m really tempted to do the same myself. I was really impressed with the simplicity of the easycoat, I just need to find time to make the oven. Anyway great series, if I do go ahead it will be really helpful. Cheers🙂👍
retrorestore Yep I might get searching on the Facebook pages for the bits I need and get on to it over winter time when work isn’t so busy, I was impressed with the price of the easy coat kit, I thought it would be much more than that. Also my dads got a sandblasted, but it’s buried at the back of his garage, so I’ll see if I can turf that out. But I’m like you lots of stuff to clear so I must get on while we have decent weather, hot hot this week they say 😓 Don’t work to hard🤣🤣🤣 🙂👍
another graet video martin im hoping to start building my over soon your system look really good thanks for the videos on how to make the over keep them comming martin
Fantastic. Watched the oven build and. was wondering how you were actually gonna do the powder coating itself. What a great affordable system and a great oven. Think I'm going to have a go myself.

I'm pretty sure you can fill pits by using a powder coating primer and sanding between coats until the surface is even before doing your topcoat.
Yes but the proper filler is a great help.
Its like spraying on talcum powder. Powder coating is very durable.
Nice bit of kit there Martin ... great video as always 👍🏻

Interesting. Static electricity is high voltage though... Very little current or power though. Great lateral thinking in the design of the gun.
Fantastic Martin, Looks like your lawnmowers are about to go way up in price with that sort of finish it sells itself.
Haha I thought that lol

excellent video, taking your advice and ordering the system. Just finish building my own oven, ready to go.
Thank you for great info
great system, look forward to seeing you powered coat more stuff in the future.
Good job Martin. Now when you restore something to sell you can say it is powder coated.
This is a tribostatic gun as apposed to the normal carona gun . This is great but it does require a tribo powder for an efficient transfer.
I'm amazed Martin fantastic
Yes, its great Aaron
I am a bike mechanic and I have couple frame I will " powder coating" instead thanks for the idea, by the way another great video, Martin.
Cheers bob
