The pre face lift (22-23) is a better design.. it looks like they tried to force the sonata front end on it, the hood doesnt meet the lights properly. Get the pre facelift 22-23 model and fit powerflex bushings.. its better
It sucks they continue to include "Octane learning" on these vehicles. They are SIGNIFICANTLY faster when octane learned, it will pick up 4-5psi of boost.
Paul FYI - you're not getting the full performance here as the N has an octane learning procedure which unlocks the 19-20psi instead of a max of 15psi boost
@@RichLionAllegedly this one resets after certain actions like turning the car off and on or refuelling. You need drive the car in a certain procedure for it to "re-learn" and allow max boost again. The system seems intrusive from what I've read of it.
@@lox429my understanding is it does the nock sensor like a normal car. The octane learning on the n lets it function like a light s1 tune when learned. Also it will learn from normal driving but procedure will do it faster. No expert, just read lots. Just got mine out of 1k break in peeriod
It actually could have been a lot faster. It unfortunately wasn't octane learned. I wish they got rid of that. But your peak boost was only 16psi. When it should hit 20psi peak boost when octane learned. Sad to see that they still have this feature.
Great review Paul. Android Auto is now full screen, so that weird AA logo that took up a third of the screen is gone, thank god. That colour still doesn't do it for me. Glad i went fluid Metal on my PFL, particularly now it's no longer an option on the my24, and strangely, think i prefer the pfl face. This looks to much like a Passat. Looking forward to your review of the ionic 5 N! When's that coming out?
Honestly I was still a little on the fence about these with the old front fascia, but now I MIGHT consider talking to my dealership about getting one next year… I wanted the Acura Integra Type S but that’s *so* expensive that it’s just not doable for awhile.
Looks like it's not octane learnt...shame. And no, the knock sensor won't just "take care of that". Octane learning is a whole other beast and you need to go through a whole 'learning process' which ridiculously resets itself with every tank fill and also at random times throughout a tank of fuel. Hyundai unfortunately chose to nerf this sedan with that horrendous learning BS. I know because I have one. A '22 model. But thankfully a Stage 1 tune fixes that right up and gives you 20PSI all day, every day, the way the car should be from the factory! 👀 P.S. When learnt you'd get 17-19 PSI on the boost gauge. May not sound like much more but you definitely feel it and you'll get a better 0-100 time.
Do u know why it needs it when hatch doesn't? And is this more powerful than hatch learned or less powerful unlearned? Ive read both but considering comparison times I thought the former since its faster or the same in track tests but not slower but I dont know.
At I think the octane learning was not completed before the acceleration test. With good petrol and after the learning the turbo pressure can reach 18 psi, and you got 15 psi max. That's why your time was so weak.
@mharro88 watch @ 4:47 it wobbles. I test drove and sat in 3 different ones and the dash wobbles too. The bonnet was all aligned wrong with one side having a large gap and the other no gap. It has the interior quality of a $25k base car.

All modern cars do this? It's called a knock sensor? How does this differ on this car, curious to know.
Love the car the rear is biggest zonk, but I'd still pay money for it
It actually could have been a lot faster. It unfortunately wasn't octane learned. I wish they got rid of that. But your peak boost was only 16psi. When it should hit 20psi peak boost when octane learned. Sad to see that they still have this feature.
Considering the performance and the price, i can't blame that cheap feeling interior😅
When oh when will it be available in the US? Counting the days.
It’s called the Elantra.
Hey Paul, any plans to review the new Sonata?
Would be good to see the performance of the 2.5 litre engine
Keen on the Hatch, did that get a facelift as well?
This new Hyundai I20 N Kia Cerato GT Sedans should come to South Africa .
Australia : i30 sedan
America : elantra
Korea : avante
Wtf Unify name into one!
Same with other cars bro not just Hyundai
Still waiting on a Sonata N Line review
Looks like it's not octane learnt...shame. And no, the knock sensor won't just "take care of that". Octane learning is a whole other beast and you need to go through a whole 'learning process' which ridiculously resets itself with every tank fill and also at random times throughout a tank of fuel. Hyundai unfortunately chose to nerf this sedan with that horrendous learning BS. I know because I have one. A '22 model. But thankfully a Stage 1 tune fixes that right up and gives you 20PSI all day, every day, the way the car should be from the factory! 👀
The sedans Australia have should come to South Africa .
Never knew that Seth MacFarlane did car reviews! Very well done though! Great insight into the exact stuff I wanted to know. Thanks!
Any review of the sonata n line?
If I have money m5 cs is just an awesome thing.
At I think the octane learning was not completed before the acceleration test. With good petrol and after the learning the turbo pressure can reach 18 psi, and you got 15 psi max. That's why your time was so weak.
Aww sorry, it was mentioned already, I just repeated like a monkey. Sry.
We did another video testing octane learning mode. It’s live on the channel.
Please do the new Hyundai Sonata N Line 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Epic car! Not a fan of the spoiler just doesn’t flow with the rest of the car
So the Elantra N?
Yep, i30n in Australia
So the seats are different from those released in the US , are they sitting 10 mm lower than the standard model?
Should look to launch without NGS then hit the NGS as you hit second
Great review Paul. Thou, that massive bonnet panel gap ruined it for me..
Don't get that on the PFL
Yep, it just looks cheap and not put together properly. The interior is all wobbly when he touches it.
@@big98181 I own it. The interior isn't wobbly at all.
@mharro88 watch @ 4:47 it wobbles. I test drove and sat in 3 different ones and the dash wobbles too. The bonnet was all aligned wrong with one side having a large gap and the other no gap. It has the interior quality of a $25k base car.
@@big98181 weird don't see that with mine. It's very solid. 2023 model PFL. The bonnet in the new one looks like shit anyway. The screens move a little as all screens in cars do , they're meant to flex to adjust to ambient temperatures but nothing crazy. No rattles in mine, there was more rattles in the new honda type R I drove . Performance rivals cars worth 80k and I track it regularly. I wouldn't let that put you off .
im looking for PHEV small - medium do you have reviews on any please?
It sounds better than the new C 63 AMG
Is there another hatchback variant coming soon as well?
I really really wanted one of these, but this review is reminding me I am 6'2" and this car is made by Koreans for Koreans I might not even fit in it properly. wasn't an issue for their older cars but they really seem to be getting smaller inside the Santa Fe from the 2003 model to the 2013 model went from enough head room to survive a crash to, my seat is lowered all the way and my hair nearly touching the roof. Have to sit in one myself to really see but the back seat is making me wonder.
Dude. I'm 6"1 and have plenty of space, even with the sunroof option.
Can anyone comment on ride comfort compared to other vehicles. Golf GTI, Golf R, my Mustang with magnaride ? Also on carsales, it says it has cruise control with all the bells & whistles, is this not the case ?
is there solution to stop axle tramp? the wheel hop..
Do these new cars you keep showing the keys for still have a physical key hidden to get into the car if the battery dies?????? Cause most of these cars I can't see a key slot on the outside anywhere
It does have a small key slot under handle
Can u review the new skoda superb
Similar price to BRZts...... which one would you choose?
Definetely this, in terms of performance this would leave the BRZ for dead.
Would it be comfortable for a 195 cm tall driver, asking for a friend :)
52k for 6.22secs?i would get a focus st instead,no?
I wonder what's better in terms of ride comfort in comfort mode... This hyundai i30N or the Honda Civic Type R
Both are awesome cars. But can’t beat the price over the type r.
The I30 is . The Honda is a far superior driver's car way stiffer. ect
@@banana-ui2qd far superior. 🤣 Every reviewer on here that is worth any salt including TCR drivers rate them the same. The Honda is slightly more precise on track but boring day to day
Is this different from the elantra N?
Super car
How does it compare to the fl5? Shopping borh
slower in track time but not by much. in terms of fun to drive, i think this has it.
Savagegeese also pitted FL5, this, and GR Corolla against each other. watch their video for a professional comparison review.
FL5 is much nicer inside and feels special to drive. If you can afford the extra $14k, buy the FL5. If you like pops and crackles and a track warranty, get the i30n. Most i30n owners don't even track the car so seems like a waste buying a track car that has such a low budget interior to just cruise up and down the streets.
I would get the Honda if your knee can handle the clutch, I was ready to buy one but after a test drive my knee gave out I was super bummed and still bummed as that is a very special car and I soooooo wanted one. Spun the huge wheels in the wet in third going straight so much fun.
take the 15 k you save and that will get you to stage 3 with upgraded turbo in the en
@@big98181 lol the fl5 doesn't even give you adjustable or cooled seats. The interior looks old and dated , quality is slightly better but nothing leaps and bounds better. I know shit loads who track this car. Maybe your mates don't...
The N is more comfortable as a daily. Way more compliant suspension. The type R isn't worth near 18k more. Laughable
Is the spoiler mandatory
I prefer my 23😊
Has the axel tramp reduced from the pre facelift version? I believe that the engine mount and bushings were meant to help with this.
Not really
It has quite a bit. Still there but not as bad as
@@AndrewPriceMotorsport you get better results with power flex bushings , I've eliminated mine.
@@mharro88 are you in a PFL or FL? I’m doing it in a FL but I think stock the FL is much better than the PFL
@@AndrewPriceMotorsport PFL sedan. Stock to stock I'm sure it's better. I have the 2022 DCT. The DCT has always had less anyway. I don't notice it at all now with the power flex ones. Just slightly more vibration at standstill
I test drove the 2024 last week , it's probably slightly improved but not leaps and bounds better.
Wouldnt say it competes with either the WRX or especially the Cerato GT. This smokes both.
It does somewhat compete with the WRX, however the WRX has become more softer and has “grown up” to attract more buyers and Subaru markets the car more of a family sedan rather than a hardcore rally car that it use to be in the 90s and mid 2000s, Subaru have lost their way and have tamed the WRX, it loses almost to every car within its price range in performance testing, it has actually becoming an embarassment, it’s the only car that has become slower and tamer overtime, I mean the fact that they offer the car with a CVT option rather than a performance DCT in the automatic variant tells you all you need to know.
The Cerato GT doesn’t compete with the i30 N (Hatch and Sedan) it is a class below, it is basically the equivalent of the i30 N Line, which both share the same 1.6L turbo, it is however a very zippy little thing for what it is, it does have some grunt.
Competes with the audi s3 and the audi would destroy it. There isn't really another car to compare it against since companies don't make sedan versions of hatchbacks
@@banana-ui2qd lol the s3 is fucking shit on track compared to this.
@@banana-ui2qd the s3 would destroy is on track? Hilarious.
@mharro88 ahahaha bruh I hope you're joking s3 / golf r destroy this on a track . Nurburgring times don't lie 🤣. I30 is the worst in the category. megane rs claps it , civic claps it , golf/s3 claps it . Maybe a mini would lose against it .
I don’t get all the creases in the doors. Looks like the stamping plant didn’t know how to put the sheet of metal into the press when making the doors!
I own one and that's one thing I don't really get either. Its like they do it just cause they can.
