I'm living in Fuji city and found the exact spot where the Shinkansen track is where you see the bridge under construction on the Shin Tomei highway. This scene is near where the tracks go by a MaxValu in Fuji Enoo. I also took a trip from Fuji city to Kyoto Station where those scenes are filmed. Love the movie and Japan!

Not the brightest or flashiest (or the most talked-about)s scene in the movie, but the most beautiful.
It really portrays how it feels to "be alone in a crowd", and the scene, where she longingly watches how the groom caringly and tenderly leads the bride over the steps is pure beauty. Especially because it is followed up by the o-mikuji scene, where it is left up to the viewer's imagination what she wishes for herself (happiness, happy marriage with her absent-minded husbond, a long life, riches or something fifth).

This is also a companion scene to one where Charlotte calls her friend, said she went to a Buddhist temple and felt nothing. The whole trip was about trying to find “the real Japan” of her imagination. After meeting Bob, Charlotte was able to partially fulfill her hopes in this scene. Getting out of the hotel, the bustle of Tokyo for a while and finally feeling something for a bit.
Bob also did this when he went golfing by Mount Fuji.

When I was in my early 20’s, I was very depressed and suicidal, and I always felt like I could relate to Charlotte’s character.
This scene reminds me of when I was travelling alone in India, and the feeling of loneliness and emptiness I felt, whilst in love with the culture of a foreign country.
I look back at this film and see it as a hug that stayed with me during those years.

An entire lifetime in three minutes:
0:14: Pregnancy, birth and living in your own bubble as a baby (the headphones)
0:49: As a teenager with your friends.
    1:00: Gate to adulthood
    1:49: Marriage
    2:01: walking thru life.
2:20: Wishing for a happy life/not being alone.
