  • In this video I show you step by step how I apply rub on transfers to oyster shells. I also show you how I fix the transfer with a little bit of paint if it cracks or gets messed up. This will sometimes happen because the surface of the seashell is uneven and the transfer may not get down in all the little crevices and grooves of the shell.
I use A Maker's Studio transfer in the video but I have also used IOD and ReDesign by Prima transfers on my shells. Whatever transfer you use just be sure to choose design elements small enough to fit on your shell.
Here is a link to our store where you can find the transfers I used in this video

I also used DIY white swan paint and Rethunk Junk Tuff Top to seal the shells.
I used Dixie Belle paint in the colors peony, flamingo, and caviar to touch up the areas of the transfer that had cracked or did not adhere.
I hope you had fun watching and I hope you will try this project for yourself.

I have a few oyster shells that I brought home from a restaurant and I soaked them in bleach but I can’t get the backs of them bright white. Do you have any suggestions? I love these and never thought of using a transfer on the insides and love how you framed one of them! Thanks for sharing ❤

I have always just bleached and then let dry out in the sun and heat and that seemed to get them pretty white. However I will do a little research and see if I can find anything that will help. The backs of my oysters are not really bright white they have dark grey areas on them.

Hey friend! Yes I use acrylic and chalk paint on my oysters.
I use Redesign by Prima transfers and also A Makers Studio transfers.
I also use gold leaf paint and gold acrylic gold paint.
Finally I use a sealer like clear gloss by Dixie Belle.
      I hope this helps.

Can people use Mod Podge to seal it or a spray sealant?
