I keep meaning to log into the computer to send you a message and here it is at last (I watch your videos on the tv). My nephew did just as you have done and bought a house that needed complete renovation and like you he had very little money. He went on a couple of courses at a builder's academy and learnt the basics of joinery, plumbing and electrical wiring, these are five day courses on each subject. After plumbing the central heating he needed a fully qualified plumber to attach to the boiler, just as the wiring needed a qualified electrician to connect to the circuit board, but it saved him an absolute fortune on labor. Another thing I have been told but never thought of doing myself, is that you can ask any college teaching building work to carry out work at your place. The tutor ensures that the job is done properly and you get discounted labor for allowing your home to be used for teaching students.

When ppl help you should ask what step you might be able to accomplish next in order to keep the project moving. It’s great that Nick and Billy are helping but not every job requires a high skill level. (Honestly I think you could have done noggins)
In a lot of cases, like with the placing of the joists and now the noggins, Nick and Billy could have done the first few and let Ryan do the rest. This is like doing someones homework for them, Ryan won't learn a thing. But it sure is convenient.

If you are going to install insultation between the floors , just sheet rock the ceiling from the floor below and then install the insultation before putting down the upper floor and it's safer .

Billy, teach Mr Ryan to pre install all his noggin screws in advance just before they break thru so once the noggin is installed into place he won't need to have a second helper to install them...holding the noggin in place while starting them might be a bit tough for a novice carpenter...lol
It is very kind of Billy to come and help out, especially as he is working so hard on the convent just now. It won't be long before you are walking on that floor, planning paint colours and furniture. It is going to be a great party house too. When the front of the house has been repainted, it will be very chic. 🙂

The best thing our parents did for us as kids and adults was to show us how, be there to support us if something went wrong, but cheered us on to doing it ourselves. Then the congratulations for a job well done was our's. Because of this I wasn't afraid and overwhelmed like others were in my childhood or adult life. It put together a friends bunk bed set. Her husband said he felt ashamed as a man. I told him that's okay, I left all the bolts for you to tighten up and I'll show you how while staying to see if you do it correctly. Unless someone has hands on experience they'll likely be too afraid and pay someone else for something they could've done for free. Hands on to completion, Ryan. Your friend Nick has you doing the actual work. You are most happy and shocked that you did it, lol. Ask yourself what you're afraid of most in the task. Remind yourself that to eat an elephant you take one bite at a time. Your viewers want to see you struggle and persevere to winning. We are all rooting for you to be of good courage and push yourself. Theres nothing more disappointing or disheartening for us than a friend we help who cracks and gives up then begs us to finish it. You can do this, Ryan. I loved doing things like that all my life. People watched me a d shook their heads at how fearless I was. I told them, "No, not fearless, but I was not going to let inanimate things beat me and win!!" I'd cry and yell at those inanimate things but not give up. After Billy showed you how to do the first section of the noggins, why didn't you start cutting and doing the rest under his supervision? How are you going to learn if you don't start doing???
Ryan, I was just thinking what a good idea for you to go and observe and film and learn from Billy’s projects or others maybe even Michael’s. And then you can apply them to your own home project! Great idea! Learning is never a waste of time.

Ryan, we love you, but ffs prop the camera up somewhere and get hands on. Billy and Nick are so good to be teaching you but you’ll never move forward if you don’t get stuck in yourself. You can do things, really you can. The more you do, the more confident you’ll get. Please.

Ryan, please, please find a way to mount your camera. If you want to really learn, Billy MUST supervise YOU cutting the wood and YOU putting the noggins in. PLEASE start doing some of the work other than the filming. Did you buy this project so someone else would build it for you?

Billy, teach Mr Ryan to pre install all his noggin screws in advance just before they break thru so once the noggin is installed into place he won't need to have a second helper to install them...holding the noggin in place while starting them might be a bit tough for a novice carpenter...lol

It is very kind of Billy to come and help out, especially as he is working so hard on the convent just now. It won't be long before you are walking on that floor, planning paint colours and furniture. It is going to be a great party house too. When the front of the house has been repainted, it will be very chic. 🙂

Hi Billy, when we did our Reno and made a shit load of dust and crap we used a garden vac to suck it all up then blow the dust out the door. It worked brilliantly. Your dad must have one somewhere you can permanently borrow 😂
The best thing our parents did for us as kids and adults was to show us how, be there to support us if something went wrong, but cheered us on to doing it ourselves. Then the congratulations for a job well done was our's. Because of this I wasn't afraid and overwhelmed like others were in my childhood or adult life. It put together a friends bunk bed set. Her husband said he felt ashamed as a man. I told him that's okay, I left all the bolts for you to tighten up and I'll show you how while staying to see if you do it correctly. Unless someone has hands on experience they'll likely be too afraid and pay someone else for something they could've done for free. Hands on to completion, Ryan. Your friend Nick has you doing the actual work. You are most happy and shocked that you did it, lol. Ask yourself what you're afraid of most in the task. Remind yourself that to eat an elephant you take one bite at a time. Your viewers want to see you struggle and persevere to winning. We are all rooting for you to be of good courage and push yourself. Theres nothing more disappointing or disheartening for us than a friend we help who cracks and gives up then begs us to finish it. You can do this, Ryan. I loved doing things like that all my life. People watched me a d shook their heads at how fearless I was. I told them, "No, not fearless, but I was not going to let inanimate things beat me and win!!" I'd cry and yell at those inanimate things but not give up. When I was beat by them I prayed, submitting to Him as my only help most times. He always helped me! Don't give up on God being your constant source of help.
The 15K house you are renovating in rural France is coming along spectacularly! You used to do tours of other properties, and my dream is a small cottage on an acre or two outside a little rural village. Can't wait to get out of the US.
