I am curious to see if it would be of use in a sword fight. There is never a Matt Easton around when you need one.
I'm sure some of it is based on sword practice (probably lots of it), but some of it is pure dance.
I keep coming back to watch this video every few months. Awesome.
Most of the dance moves here aren't sword moves in and of themselves, but they derive from them. The balance and control that lets you do this _would_ be useful in a fight. It's a related practice.
(Dance is very good for swordsmanship anyway. The principles are closely related.)
it's not a real sword.. you see how she does hand-offs? she just grabs the blade... you can't do that with a real sword if you want to keep your hands.

Ok, my comment isn't sexist in any way but there is a sensual nature to this dance. Her facial expression, her movements... put her in a rainy forest and give her a fixed stair and all men will fall at her feet. Amazing.

You are absolutely right I don't know so many things in this world. Whatever I know is tiny little. As a matter of fact it is same with everyone. Thank you. I am an outsider and fascinated by dance. Get to know little about it from net. Every aspect his different dimensions. How Republicans look at it and Ukrainians look at vary. Also kossaks look at themselves also vary. I am not on anybody side. I am just fascinated by dance.

Good use of a Hurdy Gurdy in the music!
I really like the Cossacks since I first heard about them in the video game named after them. My grand-grandfather was an Austrian dragoon who had to fight them in the First World War, but I think he respected them for their skills in riding and in battle. He was reading a big book about Russia after the war, so he never forgot his experiences. Near the place I live Cossacks, who supported the German Empire in Second World War looked for shelter, but when the British Army occupied that Part of Austria they send them back to Russia where a grim fate awaited them. But hey let's just enjoy the music and the awesome performance of this sword dancing girl! I am not used to use one-handed swords but I trained with several people the art of sword fight with two handed German Longswords. I think the old arts of fencing/sword fighting with all the ways it offers are worthy to keep alive.

Cossacks served and allied with several political entities, not just the Russians. They were loyal retainers of the Crown of Poland until the King failed to curb the excesses of the Magnates. Some tribes helped the Crimean Tatars, others Muskovy. Russian Tsars (and the Soviets) also oppressed certain Cossack subgroups and curbed their power on several occasions (like when Catherine had the Sich destroyed).
