just to clear this up. This video was recorded at the TV production facility at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo as part of my final directing project for a TV production class I took in '79. I knew Al from the Cal Poly radio station KCPR...never thought much about this afterwards until I got a call from MTV asking if I had any pics of Al for their "Driven" TV show. I said no...but I have this "video" on 3/4 inch tape!! Thought the producer was about to faint. Looking back...it's pretty cool to be the director/producer of Al's first video. Still waiting for him to give me a 2nd chance!! (LOL)

Al graduated in architecture from the same college that I went to, Cal Poly, SLO. He became famous and never practiced architecture. I did practice architecture and am not famous at all. There is some kind of cosmic joke in all this.
I worked at Capitol Records in 1979 when this came out and one of the sales guys handed me a promo 45 of it and told me to give it a listen... Something told me this guy is on to something. I still have that 45 and AL is a legend!

Love this video! Another good one is Weird Al performing Another One Rides The Bus on The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder in 1981, apparently Weird Al's first television appearance. He looked a bit nervous at first but he gave a stellar performance. His hair was bouncing, his feet were bare and he seriously rocked it with that accordion. And his and John Schwartz's timing was flawless. It's kinda cute and sweet that they both looked a little surprised and very pleased at the wild applause they received.

there is this dave grohl interview where he mentions how the internet has caused people to isolate and not form bands and how in the garage band days the way you discovered artist was going to places and seeing someone just blow you away with how much passion they were playing. This is what im feeling with Al. Its just blow you away. The bologna parody is just his way into your heart
