It’s funny to me that people do not understand why receiving a 10-15 min massage at their place of work once per week is cost-effective. As a former massage therapist who now does medical billing, I’m pretty sure I’m qualified to break it down for you: Not counting accidents, one of the most preventable injuries in the workplace is a RSI: repetitive strain injury. This usually takes the form of carpal tunnel or something similar, depending on your form of work. This is not limited to white collar desk jobs. RSIs are also found in factory workers that do shiftwork on machinery. The cost for carpal tunnel surgery can range from $4000-$8500. That’s pretty conservative and that’s just the surgery. That isn’t counting time missed from work for recuperation, time missed from doctors appointments related to initial treatment and follow-ups from the surgery, physical therapy and time missed for those appointments, etc. That’s several thousand dollars at the cost of your company’s Worker’s Comp. And that’s just if you have one hand operated on, but many people have to have bilateral carpal tunnel surgeries. This is for one person, one relatively simple outpatient surgery. This isn’t counting the strain on the other workers who may have to work to cover the absence of their colleague, which can result in additional money that your company has to pay out for overtime. This doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the effects that the added stress can put on the other workers, potentially causing missed work on their part. Now add all of this up in your head, and ask yourself if the $20-$30 massages that a company might pay for each employee once a week is not cost-effective.

Why bother comparing how stressful one job is to another? Everyone has a stressful day here and there. All jobs are stressful. Everyone should be able to do something like this to relax. That's what the video is trying to say, that this service is cost effective for anyone.

I love this video, just watching it distresses and chills me out. And I would love something like this when I do visual effects work when sometimes I think I'm literally going to be end up frozen up at the computer! :) And to some of the people who have complained about it, well I've worked both white-color and blue-color jobs so though I understand what both are like I don't get on a high horse about anything. If people are working people are working as far as I'm concerned. Good work UrbanChill and Dreaming Fish Productions.

It's funny how some of these commercials that were made 14-15 years ago blew up with the ASMR thing. I also love how Tim Brookes in a cream suit likely has grown up now and has no idea of him being cringe in a cream suit has 500k views.

Mental work is more rare and in most cases more valued. I started taking out the trash at home when I was 12. I didn't learn the equation for terminal velocity until this year. Im not denouncing blue collar jobs as there is a clear need for them but they're not highly desired jobs that are given a lot of credit.

I'm not saying that office jobs are not stressful and deserving of a massage, but so are other career fields and blue collar jobs. Try working on repairing industrial equipment all day, or loading tractor trailers with heavy boxes by hand. We should all be offered these massages by companies then.

One thing I noticed is that they say it's "cost effective" and it makes me wonder exactly how many companies feel that way. Granted that this kind of service is really nice for employees who are getting the service, but I just don't see this as something anyone would consider "cost effective".
Cost effective is like what they recently started doing at my job, where if you need any supplies, you have to check it out with your clock number and you are limited to how many resources you can access in a month, if you go over that limit you aren't given access to anymore until the next month. It's a huge pain in the ass but it's causing people to be more careful with the resources they use instead of wasting them - saving the company money.

I am glad to see I am not the only person who feels this way about white collar jobs. I made a comment about it, like what, 1, 2.. Maybe 3 years ago and got attacked almost on the spot.
Everyone working in offices tends to forget there are much worse jobs out there, I'd break my grandma's leg for an office job. Oh no, you sit on your ass for 8 hours and then get a massage? Sign me the fuck up.
