Don't be too hard on yourselves. We have all forgotten something in a taxi. You feel like giving yourself an uppercut, but hey. Glad it all came back to you
I think the answer is simple. One of the Ministers of the Maldives made some stupid comments about an Indian Resort Island with similar features to the Maldives. Most of the "up roar" seems to be on Indian English News. Nothing World shattering. Not even mentioned by the Travel Agents. Ultimately both Resorts get some local support, which is what you have just done. Maybe you can sail to one of the Indian Islands resorts and check them out. It appears to be about three days away sailing. That seems to be the purpose of this "breaking News".
Another great video guys. Restores faith in human kindness and honesty. So many places you probably would not have seen the forgotten items again. Well done!
What a great story and I'm so glad you had a happy ending getting your stuff back. Yeah!!!! You and your adventures are so relatable. Such a work ethic, Declan editing instead of exploring with everyone. You know how to play but also know how to get it done. Very commendable! We also love Chocolate, fun that you shared that again along with Rob's wonderful story about helpfulness and service. Amazing in today's times. Wish you the best! Thanks
Well done Captain Declan!! Neat maneuver (and cook haha). Mocha felt safe, so it meant you are to be trusted😅 (Ivan did also a good job on the wheel, well trained the Kiwi Boys!). Rob and Ivan's trip wasn't bad either. Always so important to seek provissions. That Coke must taste really good with that water treatment, did you got enough supplies? Nice people indeed! Karma treats you well, as you deserve. That, and small, quite places. Indeed it must be a high contrast passing from hills and wild landscapes into the city ... well filmed, and narrated, Rachel. Uppps... that jumpto the night, with those fireworks, was so funny. Not for Declan I guess, but you did told the story sooo funny, including the CCTV camera (those pics, nice memory to keep, haha). It could happen to any one, tired and just wanting to go back home... Glad everything ended well. The food will taste way better now. Hope they did a good job on the kite!! Safe journey, fair winds!
Love your blog as always, so glad you got your things back! The Maldivian people seem like such wonderful people. I have to agree with you Rob, privacy needs to come back, I realize it helped you this time but I hate big brother looking over our shoulder. God speed, happy trails
Thank you. One of the concerns is that what is deemed legal today, at the stroke of a pen, can be illegal tomorrow. Combined with the advancing digital everything and, before ya know it, tyranny. But we're a sailing channel, so we are not supposed to go down that rabbit hole 😊
Wow amazing adventure around the Maldives. Love the race/not a race banter 😅😅😅 Amazing how much the island was built up. Wondering what the population was? Thank goodness you got all your gear back. Fantastic work by police. Thanks for sharing your adventures Safe sailing Cheers from the Tron team 😊😊😊😊
Thanks Rob, we were chuffed with the outcome. About 200,000 although there are many tens of thousands of illegal over stayers, primarily workers from Bangladesh so we were told.
This really restores your faith in human nature. Such honesty from the Taxi Driver and excellent policing. A great video again showing life as it really is. You are so good at that. I am so happy you got everything back and yes similar things have happened to me. In Manchester we have so many street cameras, from the minute I walk out my front door I am being observed. We seemed to have slept walked into a 1984 society. Keep well and safe. James.
Yeah it's a strange irony where people are supposed to apparently feel safe with the camera everywhere. Yet in the society's we have visited, it's more about culture, family and connection that creates security.
Unbelievable that y’all got it back! One time in ??(some country, can’t remember), our taxi driver ran back to me as we’d gotten out and were walking away, and he had Jack’s bum bag (with electronics and cash in it etc), and waved me down to return it. What a blessing!! (I played a prank on Jack about 20 min later and asked him where it was, and he was “OMG I LEFT IT IN THE TAXI!!” I let him sweat for a couple minutes then gave it to him. We’re very thankful for honest people! (And Rob I’m with ya on the surveillance removal opinion)
Fantastic outcome eh? Well done to the cop shop....and of course CCTV cameras in town. So guys, lessons learned from that little experience? Hey do you realise, according to gps, you were just around the corner, or corners from that seaplane base, I referred to in a previous comment. Largest in the world. Allegedly.? And news at home, we've had 5 frosts in 5 days. Yep, must be winter. Haha. Nothing to write home about. Ok my morning coffee has gone cold. But thank you again for the upload. Take care.!
another awesome video so glad it all worked out in the end and you recovered your things. Camera's are the thing these days. They have their good purposes and their bad. In your case it was good. Alright looking forward to next video
There's a pretty good deterrent that stamps out theft in those necks' of the woods 🙂 I work with a bloke from Mali and he's very nice too. But he always seems to have carpet burns on his knees 🤣
Alls well that ends well, so glad y'all got his kite back, it was as always, another great video, you have to love honest people, there seems to more nice people than bad in most places. I will have to share this for you.
I love your shows ❤❤ keep it up guys .. I got one thing to say do you guys all still get your skin check? As I was looking at rob standing at the steering wheel with a hat on and no shirt and I’m look at all his freckles and I was just wondering. 😊 I’m just caring about you guys ❤❤
We keep an eye on it ourselves. It's important to get a bit of sun exposure, preferably daily. Then the shirt goes on. Rob's early years he got a bit too much!
We've wondered about that, too. Interestingly, in 1987, the scientists said it would be underwater in 30years time if nothing was done about climate change. And here we are, nothing changed. Talked with many locals about it. Even more interesting is the land reclamation going on, putting huge pads of sand extended into the ocean to 1m above high tide mark, then building resorts and apartment blocks on it. I can't believe banks would fund this activity thinking they will lose their money in 10, 20, 30 years. Nor insurance. Nothing makes sense .
@@TheCruisingKiwis Why sand in that area is covenanted. I watched a documentary on the high cost of sand in those areas. People actual will steal your sand. Who knew only a certain sand is usable for concrete. Well you folks keep up the awesome videos, they are my window to the world.
Other than the CCTV camera debate, what is amazing is that the local police actually went through the footage for you. Imagine that in London or New York or Paris! Better yet, imagine the look on the face of the cop when you explain your plaint and expect help. (NYPD: Do we look like the Lost And Found?) Best regards as always. P.s.: Quick glance at the Maldives boycott. It appears to be a pissing match between the Maldives and India -- in which the heads of each are acting like bratty kids. For a good laugh look at the available videos of the elaborate and very loud changing of the guard on the India-Pakistan border. Low comedy at its lowest. dw.
Loved this video. I have to disagree with Rob, who says if he was in charge he’d get rid of the facial recognition video system - sadly, human nature shows time and again that those in power cling to anything that maintains their power. But we both agree that these systems shouldn’t exists.
But the question was unanswered: who won the race / not race? Since Rob didn't "show-off" a win, I guess it wasn't a race after all :D Eventful episode again with great videomaking!

CCTV cameras are only an issue for people doing illegal things. No-one would have watched any of the cameras you were on if you hadn't asked them to look. They don't have people just sitting there watching you, and logging your movements. that's just stupid thinking.
Unfortunately, what is deemed legal today may, through the decisions of a few, become illegal tomorrow. History will show how this happens. Used in the wrong way is a powerful tool to tyranny. Plenty more could be said on this..
@@TheCruisingKiwis but thats just speculation and where conspiracy theories come from. There is enough disinformation around, sparked by exactly that kind of paranoia. The more people say "CCTV is evil and trying to control you all", the more likely some idiot looks at ways to do exactly that. The thing is though.
