These Vatsim intros are great. Inspired me to finally get on the network, and I'll say that it ratchets up the realism of the sim incredibly. I embarrassed myself a couple times, but controllers went easy on me. Getting much more comfortable with the calls now.
7:17 fun fact - if you're every doing something similar in Canada on VATSIM (or irl even I suppose) you require a clearance into class C. 2 way communication isn't enough. But yeah I understand this video is created from the FAA perspective so fantastic job as always! If you ever want to do some flying in Canadian airspace on VATSIM with ATC, let me know and I can staff up to provide service in the Vancouver FIR ;)
Hello. I'd like to fly VFR in Europe and I can't find similar charts for the EU only for the US. How do I know the class B airspaces then? Do you know about any good resources to learn about VFR in Europe? And one more thing. At 16:00 You called up center and said that you will descend to 5500. Is it required to do so or Is it optional? If you would have descended below 5500 which is the bottom of the Class B then you would have to leave his frequency and monitor unicom because you left the bravo? Or you would still be on his freq?
2 years later and this video (and series!) are still relevant and helpful, thanks a lot!

Repeating the clearance to have a nice flight was good fun! Always so cheerful
Nice video, even though you kept referring to Memphis as Class Charlie 😃
Oh 😬 just the V word, and I get sooo nervous 😩 I’ll try one day, just a couple of drinks first 🥃🥃 to steady my nerves 😳

How did you get other traffic from Vatsim on your G1000? Or is that AI traffic?
The G1000 NXi will show Live Traffic or traffic from Vatsim/IVAO/PilotEdge. No AI or multiplayer.
@@KCPilot i have that from the ingame store but haven’t noticed it yet. Do I need to turn TCAS on the G1000 or something?
@@Wokkelp turn the inner FMS knob on the MFD to get to the traffic page, then there's a softkey at the bottom to turn it on
@@Wokkelp I just noticed in the docs that the TAS automatically activates after takeoff and goes into standby after landing.
