I’m happy I’ve found this advice on my own. Started with visiting tracks and events, hanging out at NASA racing events. Did HPDE with my wrx daily, and now moved on to an e36 m3. Local advice was to get into bmw because the network of shops was better and would be more cost effective. Now I’m investigating what endurance series I want to commit to.

Cheers for the insight. It is parallel or maybe just similar to the advice given by an engine builder here in UK(Ex Indy car & F1) to keep under 400 for an EJ road car, for more than one reason…

Subarus love 400 wheel torque. With a tdo6 20g 8cm seams to be the perfect turbo for that especially with ethanol. But I’ve always based my building on 100hp per cylinder + 25% minimum over built for some safety.

Haha I’m one of the blew up a lot of subarus but finally made it ton400 wheel torque. 21 motors sent to the gods of speed. You know like the worlds fastest Indian, “donations to the gods of speed” on the shelf with 1,000nds of dead indian scout motors just demolished.
The technology in a Subaru sti from rpms of 6000 rpm to 9500 rpm and the tuning adaptations that has resulted from lots of good data and people like myself pushing the rpm limit, and learning what the motor likes at those rpm. My 2 cents the ej 25 motor hates anything about 7500, and even then it’s hurting itself I feel lik but from 4k to 7500 it sounds somooth and sweet. And thank you to all who are throwing turbos on and changing set ups and getting good data and dyno graphs that we can now go online and type in your subaru year and model and how to get (x) horsepower in my sti, then you get hundreds of cars with specific set ups, down to the tuner, exact turbo size, with dyno graph, and answered questions about the set up.. thanks nasioc. And flat irons for all the turbo and Subaru knowledge.

Great interview segment. Do you know if James was talking about flywheel horsepower or wheels/hubs hp with those suggested limits?
