I think another makeup mistake is not periodically refreshing your style, techniques, or colors, which will make you look dated. A dated makeup look is aging on everyone; if you’re thirty, but still do your makeup the same way you did for your senior high school yearbook, you’ll look older than you actually are.
This is SO true!!
Absolutely!! The same applies to dated hairstyles.
Yes! I didn’t think of that! Marlena looks so pretty here, she always does. I truly like her 😊
@@dailybread7687 She’s beautiful inside and out!
@@AngelaDowneyTV I agree 💯 %
When I saw her on The Sesh, I could just tell that she’s a good person inside like her ❤️
It was so sad to me and I don’t know her, what JH did to Marlena and of course all the other women also. I was deeply moved and was fighting back the tears because Marlena is such a loving, caring woman. By helping so many people, that’s what got me.
Like I always say, Its not hard to be kind. The world we live in is nothing like when I grew up. It’s refreshing to see a loving and a caring woman in this space. It is rare.
I'll probably still put glitter on my eyelids even when I'm 70. 😆Great tips though!
I might be there with you lol. By that age, I just won't care about any rules!
Yeah, same!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
YES!!!
Same 🥰🥰🥰
I can't even express how GREAT it is to see you back on UA-cam doing what you do best. Loving your audience and sharing your genuine self! Your videos make me so happy and they make my day better. No BS, just fact, science and your awesome self! I am 65 years young and I agree, the less, the better for foundation. I use ILIA foundation - and I can't tell you how many times people stop me and mention 'what skin care brand do you use'. They don't comment on foundation. This is what I want to accomplish! I'm a very basic makeup girl - but I enhance my eyes and I'm a lip gloss fanatic. Brows are what I spend my time on. Marlena, you look fabulous and HAPPY! LOVE from Canada! 💙
Aww I love this!! Send canada a hug for me- im dying to go back! I want to see Quebec and Montreal 😍
Keep pumping out these videos girl! One hundred percent agree with everything you said. I’m almost 64 and now mostly use Sydney Grace shimmers. Less creasing, minimal fallout if any and better suited for more mature eyes. Thanks Marlena!
Same here, just ordered more singles during her sale
yep, and MUG's still some of my faves too!
I think the key to wear the fun shadows like Moira Diamond Daze liquid eyeshadows is to keep it low on the lid. It will age your eyes up higher. I’ll never give up the fun or the sparkle. ❤
That's a great tip! SO true!
I miss makeup geek... I was just getting into it when it disappeared. I have lived your videos and style for years!
I miss it too :(. But I'm working on a new brand, so some amazing things are coming xoxo
@@MarlenaStell I can't wait!! I know it will be amazing. You are an inspiration for all business women!
I never wear makeup on my neck or chest. I try to match my foundation to my neck and be done with it.
You are 100% correct on all 5. I stopped wearing any eyeliner under my eye. It just lifts my whole face. Eyes are directed up instead of down.
aww i love my spider eyes lol
Enjoying Marlena content and all her tips on my lunch break 💄💄💄 makes Monday doable.
Happy Monday Michaellle!
Right!
If your face is dry. Dont buff your foundation with a brush it will disturb your already dry skin under the foundation giving you a patchy finish. Instead press them in.
Right. I push in the foundation with a brush.
That's how i do it too, because even with oily skin it does that same thing. Very patchy and I feel like it disturbs my skincare underneath.
Agreed, I stipple. I',m always on the hunt for a good stipple brush
The purple smoked out liner is *chef's kiss*!!! 🤌 😘
Exfoliating with a BHA once or twice a week helps for cakey foundation as well!
Sometimes just working with your fingers cake make sure isn’t cakey. I always wash my hands before doing makeup. Sometimes I have used my fingers to apply foundations. The warm of my fingers help melt it into my skin. My grandmothers always used their fingers and they never looked cakey. I don’t always do it just once in awhile. I do always like to use my fingers for concealers. I feel I get a better result.
@@shellteresa778I call my fingers bio-brushes 😂
It's brilliant that you are showcasing classic and latest products and tools as our requirements change with time
I love you’re doing videos all the time again.
The Balm sells a bronzer that called not orange bronzer. Its neutral. Other bronzers make me look muddy or jaundice.
Thank you Marlena!! ❤
You are so incredibly gracious and humble.
Thank you for the eyelash tip! I hadn't heard of the falsescara and am excited to try it.
Thank you! This was an extremely helpful video Marlena! Please don’t stop making these. I need all the help I can get!
Can you start doing eye makeup tutorials again? I love your eye looks, or current obsessions videos? Sorry for the demands lol you’re just my go to for reviews and makeup
Marlena, I always love your videos especially because you give suggestions of products! So helpful! Thank you❤
The eyelook is amazing!
She said they're barking and howling 😂😂😂
Girl you are needed! Thank you!!!! I need this advice!!!
I need to spend a day with you going over all of this. I've learned so much, but I still have so much more to learn and work on. Thank you for all you share, truly appreciate it. Have a blessed day!
So glad the videos are helpful! There's tons more content coming :)
I love your hair and makeup in this video. You look fab!
Regarding eyeliner, I agree that sometimes black can be too harsh. I've found that grey liner is good for lining your eyes and looks more "natural".
That's a great idea! I need to try that one 😊
@@Iamheatherhall only problem I've found is that sometimes, it's hard to find - black and brown being so popular!
Love your tutorials and videos Marlena!
Love these tips Marlena! Can you please do an everyday go to eyeshadow look ❤ Thanks
I found your channel a few days ago and I love your content ❤
Thanks for sharing all these tips😍
I just placed my order with MAKEUP GEEK ❤🎉🎉 I know the shipping is delayed, yet I'll wait for your top quality products. I'm excited to see what your next journey will be.
Thanks Marlena! Absolutely love your videos ❤
It's always a pleasure to see when you post a new video!
Loving these videos!!! You're the best teacher! ❤
Wow. I super love the shirt! Love that colour! Thanks for the positive vibe❤
Those were wonderful tips you know what you're talking about I am 75 and a couple of times I went crazy with her chromatic eyeshadows myself lol it was a little too much Thank you for such great advice❤
Loving your fabulous videos! 💞
Love, love, love the Anissa foundation brush!
I like all the tips save the glitter one. I love glitter and still wear it in my 40s. Great video. Keep them coming. Please also start doing tutorials again ✨
Thanks for the tips ❤ I found this really helpful
All of them! ❤ and I agree with all of yours ❤ I will definitely take it to heart
Love this! PLEASE do a tutorial on the eye look!
Yes!!! We miss your tutorials! 💕
You can pry my multichromes from my cold dead hands!😜😂 But seriously, it is undeniable that after 40 I bacame a bit more careful when using super shiny and reflective eyeshadows, as you suggest I put on a smaller portion of the lid and it still looks good.
I LOVE multi chromes! Can still wear- at the end of the day, it's makeup and meant to make you happy however you like :)
This is amazing info, thank you!!
Omg ! You always look gorgeous but my god this make up look is to die for. !!Please if possible can you kick it old school and do a tutorial on this look because it is breathtaking❤
Ahhhh MarlenaStell, it's so good to see you happy and still sharing your beauty tips with all of us. Nars Sheer Glow with Makeup Geek brushes or sponges are absolute perfection on my 71-year-old skin, but thanks for sharing about this Anisa brush! Can you share a sunscreen to wear under a liquid foundation that won't pill? Thank you! 💕
Shiseido has 2 sunscreens that work really well under makeup and Clarins has one with a tint and you can also put foundation on with it or wear it by its self.
I don't think I've ever looked good in glitter because I have hooded eyes that always creased and took my glitter off... but I'm really liking the subtle glitter of Danessa Myricks paint tubes because they have a pretty color shift, are waterproof, and no chunky glitter (I want a wet shiny look for summer). But come Christmas, I'll probably wear a glitter liner for fun (like Urban Decay). Only downside is that chunky glitter hurts when you try to remove it... 😢
I LOVE Danessa Myricks products! Her color fixes are amazing
Thank you for the amazing tips that I needed ❤ 💕 Thank you for helping me attempt to look gorgeous like you!
It's a hard reality check when one day you look in the mirror ans say, " OMG!!! What the hell happened here?" That's what happened to me one day a few years ago when I did my eyeliner with the big wings that I loved. Can't pull it off anymore 😢
That hair color looks great on you ❤
Thank you ❤❤❤ these tips are the best 😊
Yes girl Love you been watching you since you was losing weight baby so proud of you it's unbelievable you inspire me so much Marlena I'll watch you till there's nothing else to watch baby God bless
To answer your question, I guess the makeup mistake I used to make was wearing an all-over light color eyeshadow, despite the fact I have hooded eyelids. I’ve since discovered the power of contouring there.
Yes, I used to do the same thing with the all over pale shadow!
Another great video, thank you ❤
Marlena I love that purple liner on you!!! 🤗 Please share the brand and color! Thanks. Love you!! 💜
Nice tips, great eye look❤
Thanks Marlena! So happy you’re doing these awesome videos. I love your tips and tricks! I’ve been a viewer since the old days 2011 on ! I appreciate your content and I adore you!
Thank you for still being with me all these years! Hope you’re doing amazing ❤️❤️❤️
I would love an eye tutorial or the brand of your eyeliner! ❤ I need that color in my life ✨
You look absolutely gorgeous !!
Thank you so much! xoxo
Loved you since forever!! I still have and use my makeup geek palettes ❤ love from London 🇬🇧
Excellent video ❤️
Ok Marlena, I just purchased the brushes! I'm 57 and do love some shimmer on the eyes! but I'll mellow out a bit! 😉
I always heard the older we get the dryer we get. Not for my face. The older I get I feel the oilier I get.
Me too! I'm 61 my skin has turned oily thank you God! Less wrinkles, adjust the skincare done!
Same! Its worse now that it was in my teens, and I've always been oily.
@@CelesteSeeker In my teens I was combo. Then 20s and some of my 30s I was dry. Then late 30s I got oily. In the winter my skin calms a bit to close to normal.
@@reginaroza3154 I rather have oily then dry.I look really young always have. Good genes and skin care. I’ve always used Olay products. I swear by Olay. Yes, I have tried others but always go back to Olay. Serums I will use bliss products or Pacifica. Moisturizer is always Olay. My Grandmothers always used Olay too and looked so young.
@@kad6810 ditto. I blot my face and touch up if needed. Especially this yr with how hot and humid it’s been.
I ❤ these videos!!! Keep it up!!!❤❤❤
Makeup Forever's mist and fix has been a lifesaver for my face! It is so hydrating on my dry skin!
I don't know how, but I JUST discovered you. Your videos are so good, thank you for all the great info!
Agree!!!
I can’t find the video where you recommended the Lancôme Primer, but I just wanted to tell you: it’s a GAME CHANGER for mature skin! 🌸💜🌸 Thank you so much for your super helpful videos! 🙏
I definitely agree 💯 ❤
Such amazing tips ❤
I agree that some glitters and shimmers can be aging. You have to figure out which ones work best for you. On me, I find that Pat McGrath shimmers and astral shades look nice. But some of Natasha Denona's more frosty / foiled shimmers can make my eyes look crepey.
Ooh I need to try the Pat McGrath ones…
Thank you for sharing your video TIPS. It's valuable & helpful.
Your looking more beautiful over time ❤ i love the makeup and hair color
I say no to foundation. Great tips hun!!❤
Love it and totally agree!! I would add that I've discovered when I entered my fifties that the pads on your fingertips are your best friend for applying foundation. Brushes pack on too much product. Also, I have to use two different kinds of concealer, two different kinds of foundation, and again, blending with the fingers to melt the products together. Totally agree about Huda's Mercury Retrograde palette, and really all of her palettes about the beautiful shimmers she has!! Her New Nude palette is my go-to for my "snachtural" everyday glam look :))) Thanks, Marlena, you're the best!!!
Great tips! I am in my early 50’s and everything you say is spot-on. Thanks for the tip about using warmer eye color palettes. One thing I’d add about mascara is that I use lengthening rather than volumizing mascara now. It looks more flattering, imo. I’m a bit skittish about the false lashes, but I may try with your tips. Thanks!
Can we please have this tutorial for this eye look?
Please do an in-depth tutorial on color correctors. I have no idea what color corrects what. I have Vitiligo, deep purple under eyes, breakouts, blah blah blah. I think if i knew what I was doing i could wear less concealer and foundation. Help! Love your videos and I've learned so much ❤❤❤
I love Channel’s bronzer.
Lookin good!!!
I love your hair here 💁♀️
Would you do a makeup tutorial on your eye look? Pretty please!! It's so pretty and different.
Love your hair 😊
ITA!! You were spot on. I do favor cool colors (greys, taupes, smoky grunge etc) so it’s not like electric blue or purple people eating … color has its time!! but the last tip rly got me thinking for when I use indie shadows (multi chromes etc extreme sparkle & glitz!) i am going to try to be putting it just in one little area. I can relate on the bronzer. I had to start buying the palest bronzers/brontour I could find & it’s rly helped my game. I switched to lighter texture fdtn & I will try the powder tip! I got those triangle sponges much cheaper on Tèmú. Your makeup looks so good! I like to line my waterline with nude (or white) gel eyeliner w/ a MAC 109 brush then go for a bit darker under w powder but I will try putting a brown under. Great tips. Thank you!!
i love the burgundy eyes and top on you marlena - it’s a gorgeous colour on you ❤❤
Thank you so much!! I’ve been loving burgundy - I think I’m ready for fall 😍
@@MarlenaStell me too 🙌🙌🍁🥮🍂
I love all your videos❤
Great advice
I agree with all of those tips and follow them, especially as I have gotten older.
I've also found, for me anyways, that using a cream blush instead of powder makes my skin look better!! Btw, great tips!! Tfs!! 💛💛💕💕
Love that you are using the Anisa brushes! I follow another UA-camr that recommended them, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to pull the trigger on them, but this may be confirmation 😅
They're really good! And I've known the owner for many years and she's a great person. Love supporting other women owned brands
Why is it so much work to clean foundation brushes, I even have some from Sonia G but I rarely use them cause of the cleaning process, I like to wash mine after each use.
Thanks for all you do...Love the tricks of the trade..You look gorgeous..............
Thank you so much! xoxo
I’m in love with the Kiss Falscara lashes. They are the only false lashes I’ve been able to use. Game. Changer.
I will definately follow all of these tips
Of course I made all these makeup mistakes but as my life progressed I learned, learned. Thank you Marléna for this video
💛💝💝
Hi Marlena! Love your eyes today. Are you able to do a tutorial on how to get the same look pleaseeee? Which purple pencil have you used?
(Gonna buy/ try the Dermablend and Anisa's brushes-thanks for that!)😘
These tips are so useful Marlena. Thankyou! ❤
Will you upload more tutorials??! You are the best teacher and I love watching your videos and trying new looks!! I loved your makeup in your last video!! ❤❤ Hugs! 🥰
I love Josie Maran's bronzer.
