Probably because he learned high on drugs that once he sobered up was this guy here and is like. “Idk how i learned to do this... but i guess im a flat picker!”
@@sammyscalco4095 Right on! Though not a Doc Watson original, it's a traditional fiddle tune played by many folks. Billy is playing it in Doc's style, though. Happy picking!
The "style" is "flat picking" which is a large part of the genre Bluegrass. This particular tune is called "Billy in the lowground." Doc Watson played (recorded) a version of this also, back in the early 70s.
"Billy in the Low Ground" is, we realize, only a name for a bluegrass tune -- 'cause Billy Strings ALWAYS occupies the high ground when fingers meet guitar.
I’m gunna be completely honest. I don’t think these old martins sound as good as today’s martins. The d28s coming out now are absolutely amazing. This guitar sounds nice but lacks any punch and depth
My dad who is 83. Has one of these. He used to make it ring. Had a stroke 8 years ago. It’s been in moth balls ever since. I truly miss it.
Start playing man, and never give up!
You wont regret that!
Sell it to me
I know a sound engineer probably hates it, but I LOVE the way those bass runs push the mic to its limit.

@@treatb09 Fucking what?
@@treatb09 what
@@akiukonmaanaho1025 I think we can both see who is actually high on drugs here lmao
@@treatb09 Damn, leave some Dust in the Baggie for the rest of us
So incredibly authentic to the Doc Watson version (Billy in the Lowground). Boy, he sure can pick.
Thanks I was really wanting to Learn this song, But I didn't know who created the original version to look up the notes.

Oh Jeez he's good. The music just flows out of him!
Ain't no guitar that can keep up with Billy Strings
One of my favorite things about watching Billy play is when he looks as surprised at what his hands are doing as we are
Incredible talent.
I can actually watch Billy lose himself in the guitar in this one! I'm really loving these videos. Thank you!
Fine fine guitar. Very few of today’s guitars have this magic. Billy super rocks
How can anyone be so young and so GOOD???
Yeah Billy!!!!
Amazing
IT'S LIKE LISTENING TO A DUET WITH 2 PLAYERS ... HE IS AMAZING ...
Sweet guitar and some awesome picking!
I love this kid. He’s old school American. He’s proper. He’s original.
You can almost hear the other guitars saying, “ oh oh Me next! Play me!”
perfect !!!
THIS is why the Martin D28 is the standard by which all others are judged!!! ( Gibson Advanced Jumbo gives it a good run for its money though)
All that, then the sweet ending😄
I like this one better than the D-18. Fuller Bodied sound.
Daniel Wilson sounds like the strings on this guitar is more fresch.
and on the d 18 he was capo'd up which takes away
Was going to point out the capo on the D-18
That 35 D-18 sounded awesome! Magic mahogany!
This guy is ridiculous. The first time I saw him play with Tommy Emmanuel I didn’t play guitar for a week
That was my introduction to Billy and I was happy to see him outplay Tommy
@@babswright2664 Um, no.
@@hammill444 Um yes! Not a fan of Tommy, but liked his brother Phil
Killer. Just killer.
Sounds a bit like my Kevin Charles custom made dreadnot with accurate scalloped bracing an echo sonic milling on the top
ha ha...I'm always amused by guitars wanting to be like a prewar Martin...just by the real thing and not the wannabe ;-)
What’s the name of the tune he’s playing?
Is this the 1944 Martin D-28 that Billy now owns?
Unreal playing and tone on this 44 D28 What strings were on this guitar here?
153k views and 40 or 50 comments? That's crazy.
Crazy
this style has a special name?
just good ole flat pickin blue grass

He has the D 28 and a D 34. D 28 is superior.
He’s played before.
Thanks for the video Billy..... I just burned my guitar!

Sounds like if Billy Strings made spongebob background musci
This guy isn't human.

Think the 1935 D-18 sounded better...)) Even if it's not as booming.
Watch Zane Fairchild once.
Well that is just some G/C/D walk downs...easy peasy....(4 hours later...) WHY DONT YOU WORK FINGERS!!?!?!?!??!?!
And I thought my version of this song was good...
表情猥瑣!扣分!!
Lmao
