I propose we support a one month limit on going steady
I think It would keep people more able to deal with weird situations
And get to know more people
I think if you're ready to go out with Johnny
Now's the time to tell him about your one month limit
He won't mind, he'll appreciate your fresh look on dating
And once you've dated someone else, you can date him again
      I'm sure he'll like it
      Everyone will appreciate it
You're so novel, what a good idea
You can keep your time to yourself
      You don't need date insurance
You can go out with whoever you want to
Every boy, every boy in the whole world could be yours
If you'll just listen to my plan
      The teenage guide to popularity

Thank you for commenting this, I felt like the reference might be wishful thinking/a coincidence, until I saw your comment lol. Nada Surf killed it with Popular and as a parent with a child going through school, some of the themes and lyrics are still relevant today. However, washing and shampoo is applied more than once every two weeks. Have a good day/night, take care.

We had to watch Varsity Blues, both movies are only metaphors for the dichotomy of gender roles and expectations placed upon the traditional archetypes of athletic males and females seeking the best suitor, which is only another metaphor for said female's best chance at escaping the captivity of guardianship and small town morals. Ultimately, we find out love is much more than just sex, football, and whip cream. It's about rebellion against the expectations placed upon you by family, friends, the community, and a winning football record. Who hasn't broke their Father's nose while "aiming" at a beer can, right? Both movies, seem to hold a mirror up to the audience. Are we victims, the perpetrators of passing down expectations on to our children from our own failures, bystanders unwilling to step in and speak up, or only fans in the bleachers watching these stories unfold in the homes and between those 100 yards beneath the lights.... Sling Blade is a hell of a movie. I never thought Billy Bob Thornton would be a great Football coach, but Damn. He killed it.
