    Thx for the great review. I'm in the market for a new meter and I don't need a Fluke for automotive use mainly but have looking at the Klein. I think you convinced me to go for one. Thx again.

      No need to spend hundreds of dollars 💰 on the fluke for your purpose. The Klein will be just fine. 👌🏽

    I still have my first Fluke 16 I bought over 20 years ago. They last and last. TRMS is important if you work with dirty power. If you don't or mainly work with DC then an averaging meter is ok. I have an MM600 and a Fluke 87V. I don't worry so much about dropping them more so if it will save my life. Flukes can take some serious over voltages. If I have work with some higher voltages (Above 277) I always use the Fluke even though I think it's a bit heavy. I talk to some Lineman and they all use Fluke.

    Great video TETC. The hold function is a bit strange on the Fluke. On my 83 it acts as a standard hold function for volts and ohms, but for capacitance it seems to move to a touch hold function and you loose the initial reading when the probes are removed.

    When measuring something with a very low resistance like 0.2 Ohms you need to get a measurement with just the leads then use the REL function to zero them out before measuring the resistor.

    For about 1\4th the price of the Fluke, the Klein looks pretty nice.

    I love your videos, I subscribed a year or two ago, you should do some how to videos for those of us “special semi-pros”. I’m a Klein tools guy but all of my meters are fluke, have the Fluke 87V and the Fluke 375FC amp meter, keep up the good work

      Thanks for your sincere appreciation. I’ve thought about doing that a long time ago but the thought of me filming while working. Or having someone film while working wouldn’t be profitable because it’ll be time consuming and I’ll lose money. And if I pay someone to just follow me around I’ll lose money also. Sorry but at the moment this is all I can offer. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

    Maybe do a tutorial on the fluke 87V on all of the features and do an example for each, especially duty cycle, what is that? Thanks again

      Sorry for the delayed response Joe. But I'm not setup like that to demonstrate all those features at the moment. Hopefully in the near future I can make that happen. Thanks for watching and posting.

    Excellent comparison video, appreciate you. What would you recommend, this Klein MM700 for $70 or a Mastech MS8229 for $40?? Or is there something better that you would recommend? I need something for diy around the house, electronics, appliances, and in diy automotive electrical system.

      The KLEIN MM700 of course. I wouldn’t waste my time time or money purchasing those off brands of cheap multimeters. Always think 🤔 about your safety.

    Excellent video on the 3 fluke. But the only correction on the fluke 87v is it's not loz feature near the v(ac), it's a low pass filter feature....But you still did an excellent presentation. Terry

    What you are paying for with the Fluke meters is 1. Getting them certified and calibrated. 2. Trust -- Klein doesn't have a certified "reputation". Takes years. 3. A company that will stand behind their product. Your have a problem with your Fluke meter it's easy to get it taken care of. 4. Familiarity - Your a company and you purchase 100 meters and you don't have to retrain your users or you tech to recalibrate them . Safety!!!! you know for sure you won't loose a finger or hand if it blows. I've worked with massive voltage over the years in power plants. Trust me when you reach for a meter to read 500 volts you reach for a Fluke or Hioki. Hioki in Plants owned by the Japanese.

      @@TheElectriciansToolChannel The other thing most people don't know. I carry 2 meters at all time professionally. Fluke 87v and a Hioki DT 4282. You always double check. At home I pretty much use my BK Precision. Great meter for the price. I may pick up the Klein for the RV.

    the 87v doesn't have loz on it, but that function is a low pass filter, for smoothing erratic or stepped ac frequencies - like you'd find feeding a vfd motor. good video otherwise.

    Klein makes good meters and at a good price. Only thing will it still b useable in 10 years like so many Flukes have lasted ? Can’t go wrong either way tho

    • @TheElectriciansToolChannel
      @TheElectriciansToolChannel  2 роки тому +3

      I agree Jay, Fluke testers are known to out live their owners. Klein testers are a great alternative for the moment, but it remains to be seen if it’ll be a great meter 10 yrs. from now.🤔

      Electrician here i just had a basic Klein meter i purchased maybe 3 or 4 years ago while it came in handy i had the first one act strangely with continuity i was fortunate to get an echange for an hvac one (which was more expensive) but after about a year again false continuity readings and i was having issues with clamp readings i even had changed the leads to both testers for new ones and that didnt fix the issue. I went with a Fluke T6-1000 pro this time im excited to get it tmrw!

      The Klein may not be useable in 10 years but you can buy 4 or 5 of them for the price of the Fluke. If you look at it that way the Kleins (or whatever other brand is #2 in the future) bought decade after decade will not only last you as long but you'll get all the new features that will come out in the future models. 40 years from now you'll be using a brand new Klein meter versus a 40 year old Fluke. Another thing is if it gets lost or stolen or damaged on a construction site would you rather be out $100 or $600? I'm also an electrician and I have a Fluke 179 kit and an MM700. I'm going to see how they hold up against one another. Let you know how it went in 40 years.

      Tech for several decades, used to be fluke owned the game, with their over-pricing they are starting to lose it. I own many flukes and yes they hold up well but you can get a decent Klein for $75. Who cares if it lasts only a few years. I’d say save your money.

    • @TheElectriciansToolChannel
      @TheElectriciansToolChannel  2 роки тому +1

      I agree FLUKE owns the game and there are a lot of multimeters on the market that’ll give FLUKE a good run for their money. Like BRYMEN. HIOKI. GOSSEN METRAWATT, IDEAL INDUSTRIES, HT INSTRUMENTS, RISHABH, AEMC, APPA, AGILENT...etc. But can these meters compare to the safety rating of a FLUKE instrument ?

  • @meenam300zx

    If you work with high voltage and want to see your grand kids grab your Fluke. Others are good for smaller jobs but with my line of work, I say Fluke them, I want to be safe.

  • @Trump985
    @Trump985 Рік тому +1

    I have both the Fluke 87 and the Kline mm700. Honestly I hate the Kline due to the fact it takes so long to get a reading mine is probably 4 seconds for an AC voltage measurement on auto range and 2-3 seconds on manual range. The OMS and frequency are horrendously slow! Like go get a cup of coffee slow. Personally this is a intolerable delay for me as I often have to test hundreds of circuits in a short time. A few seconds for a reading adds up to a considerable amount of wasted time in a day . And yes the leads are absolutely garbage that ship with both meters but that’s a simple fix.

    • @TheElectriciansToolChannel
      @TheElectriciansToolChannel  Рік тому +1

      I never experienced any issues with my Klein MM700 multimeter check your batteries 🔋 make sure they’re fully charged. Then try all the measurements you just listed and see what happens. If it’s still slow your device maybe defective.🤔. Let me know how it goes I’m curious to find out ?

    • @Trump985
      @Trump985 Рік тому

      @@TheElectriciansToolChannel Unfortunately all the MM700s I’ve seen have this delay. I believe it just has a slow processor. The delay wouldn’t be an issue for a hobbyist or an electrician who was doing typical residential work. I work on heavy commercial/light industrial equipment and it’s a different story when you are checking hundreds or connections and pining out pcbs looking for a fault in a complex system. The 87 is a lot faster to respond and gets a stable reading almost immediately.

      I keep my fluke 87 if I need to be sure but my $8 harbor freight is good most of the time and I don't have to worry if I damage it or lose it.
      Serious damage or losing my fluke would ruin my day.
