I got 2019 Ram Hemi and 2020 Ram Diesel. I'm looking to get a 14ft dump trailer. Definitely will be using the 2500 pull it but nice to know the 1500 can move it around
Pulling that trailer with construction material wont be an issue. Gravel or dirt wouldnt work. But for remodeling its perfect. Even fully loaded probably well under 8k. That ram can tow 10k max,.
I wonder if you did a little experiment of taking something like your 1500 truck or a 2015-17 F150 half ton (aluminum body) and pulled that 14’ dump trailer with 6k of stone or sand placed over the trailer axels how that would tow and stop in comparison to the same trucks and 14’ trailer but in a gooseneck configuration. How much difference in the handling of the weight with the tongue centered over the rear axel versus that same weight centered on the 2” receiver under the bumper. Every inch that tongue weight is further back must make quite a difference to the squat of the truck. I mean that’s what 2-3 feet further in and directly over the axel. There must be a huge difference I would think 🤔
I have the same version in a gooseneck. When loaded with 5.5 ton it doesn’t faze the 3/4 ton Dmax.like it’s not even there. I’m sure the 1500 could pull it just fine but stopping it in an emergency and your trailer brakes go out would be scary. But I’m sure that would never happen. 🤣
I pull it all the time with the 1500 and with the electric brakes it stops fine,I also own 2 - 550 fords with the 6.7 ,the problem is I am always running around in my 1500 lol,I also hooked it to my transit van 250 and was surprised on how well it pulled it
The max capacity of a ram 1500 is roughly 10k lbs. Adding airbags does not add to the capacity, just helps stabilize. My specific ram 1500 is only 8k. You really shouldnt be loading anything too heavy in there. Definitely not 13k with that truck. Just my opinion.
@@patricksimone1238 Just hope and pray u never get in an accident weighing more than your truck is rated for. The right lawyer will take everything u have and ever will have. That's why they have stickers on the inside of the door specifically telling how much it is rated for. Nice trailer though 👍
explain this...if the trailer gvw is underweight and truck gvwr is underweight, whats the big deal? "tow ratings" of trucks aren't enforced by DOT. engine size, gear ratio, wheelbase, trim model, cab size and 2wd vs 4wd all effect a trucks "tow rating" you could have 2 identical trucks one with v6,4wd and crew cab and the 2nd a v8,2wd,reg cab and they would have vastly different 'tow ratings' despite having the same chassis, axles, brake size, tire size, wheelbase, etc
With a trailer that heavy you are required to have a dot number on your truck. Dot will tear you apart for towing a trailer that heavy. Your looking for trouble. Get a truck that is rated for that weight.
Judd Lincoln 10,000 or under no need for dot number, all my 350-450-550 have them ,that truck has been long gone anyhow thanks for watching,by the way we have a fleet of 25 trucks all dot if they are rated 10,000 above
@@patricksimone1238 that truck with that trailer has a combined weight of over 10k. It is combined weight, not just the weight of the truck.if the truck is under 10k no need, but if there is a trailer attached that makes the combined weight above 10k and is a commercial enterprise, dot numbers are required.
I have a big Tex 14 lp dump bed, I went through 4 transmissions. Plus really need bigger brakes to stop that much weight. But if you are not towing above 10k pounds regularly you may be ok......but if you are maxing out the trailer you will have issues. Just my opinion.

Are there tie down locations in there to chain down a 6000lb skid loader?
Yes there is

Is your 1500 truck still DOING ok in your towing?
Still going strong
@@patricksimone1238 I’m glad I saw this lol going to buy a Dump trailer this Friday

I paid 6,000

What TOTAL tow weight/limit would u say?
Is DEP sticker from the trailer only mandatory for commercial?
Sean k it’s only mandatory if you are going to haul garbage and dump it at a facility, other wise no
Hope this helps thanks for watching
@@patricksimone1238 Do I need a CDL to haul that trailer??
El Rulo no you don’t
@@patricksimone1238 Thanks.. I'm starting my own business in Odessa Texas
El Rulo best of luck bro, wish you all the best
What air bags did you put on your ram ?
Was a air lift system..saw it on the Guage
What year ram is it
17
14,000 is the gross trailer weight not the empty weight of the trailer. Big difference
William Wood yes correct, that trailer empty is 3,500 ,I have been on the scale where it came in at 13,500 and the truck did fine
Thanks for watching

In Tennessee, it's 26k.. anything under doesn't require an upgraded license.
