A different better idea for a fix was suggested to me
instead of a binary wheel mode, a “Steering Sensitivity Dial”
one being controller like, ten being wheel like, that allows more nuance, and specific adjustment for players
The problem is that in TC2, the handling physics were already so arcady that wheelmode didn’t cause a huge disparity vs regular controller input. However, in Motorfest, since the cars have much more weight to them and feel more grounded, the disparity between wheelmode and controller input is immensely noticeable

@@SZRTIcei truly think the only way to resolve this issue is for IVT to give console players setting options to get “wheelmode”. Sid was right on abt that. Until everybody has access to that feature, everyone who isn’t capable of doing good yet in TCM will have a just reason to call it a cheat. I personally don’t need it, but id like the opportunity to test it out and mess around with it. #wheelmode #GPAS (give players accessibility settings)

Goalith talked about it saying how bad it was and wants fairplay, but carrys on using wheelmode. Wheelmode is 4-5 seconds faster overhaul in a race. You can do a Scandinavian flick with a controller. Doing that reqires you to come in close to the corner flick the stick in the opposite way then turn back into the turn with e brake and gas
The issue is there is no option for it on ps5. So you are immediately at a disadvantage to someone with access to it. It is not a skill issue to not have access to something that someone else does.
An easy solution is to simply add the wheel mode as an option. That way. You can choose to use it and then it will be a skill issue until you have learned how to use it.
Someone being able to make adjustments mid corner simply because they are on pc or have a wheel vs someone on controller having no option but to make sure the line is perfect before the corner is not a skill issue. It’s a clear disadvantage. You can have a much higher skill level but be incapable of recreating a cornering angle or speed which in a game with a mode such as the summit where there are limited rewards is not ok. Just because you are on ps5 you should not have to work harder than someone else to recreate a worse time. It should be the player. Not the players wallet that decides

He mentions another issue of the game and the one i more pissed about.... The reset exploit, the going missileram into a corner reset and spawning down/up the road, most of the times ramming other players that take the turn normally or gutting and send them to oblivion. That should not be allowed and easilly fixing by putting them some meters before they reset and starting from a stand point (0 speed units).
On summits true that you can get higher score with git gud but again since TC2 time massive shortcuts where you go miles, kilometers outside the road should not be a thing and resets in Summit should be turned off (yeah there can be rewind but not straight resets)

"I play on pc, me and a group of pc friends we play the game legit and we despite wheelmode users. My biggest problem is how they claim is "fair" and the "same" as using the wheel. No its not, I play with a logitech g27. When I loose control of the car I cannot counter steer full 300+ degrees in 0.1 second. Its physically imposible. With wheelmode you just flick the thumbs and not even a budge. After 5 hours of game with the wheel my arms, my shoulders my leg are in pain its it's physically demanding thing to do. Wheelmode users don't get none of that. Legit controller players , wheel users hate them. And don't get me started with the resets it's either do em or loose. Ivory really needs to look into these exploits they went through great lengths to make this game "fair" just to be exploited by the lack of skill players that only cryout "get gut" when they have no other defense."
The learning curve of wheelmode is not steap, play around with it and in 2 hours your ready to go also this can be easilly fixed by: Letting the player put the deadzone to a REAL 0
Also not a big justify to use wheelmode just to be against Wheel users thats just the only way they have to defend the usage of if.
I would actually accept if they just said.... I like to have more control of my vehicle.
As a wheel user i totally agree. On controller you could countersteer so much quicker, so they need to make it more balancing.

Wheel mode players ARE good at the game. If you havent actually USED wheel mode on controller then just stfu cuz you dont know what youre talking about. I use wheel mode and i find it interesting because i see it as a fun challenge. You might hate that but idgaf. Wheel mode doesnt instantly make you “better” the people you lost to who were using wheel mode were already better than you. Wheel mode is insanely hard to use and thats why i enjoy it, and thats also why i think it’s completely fair.
Using a third party software is anyway cheating whether you need to become good at it or not, is cheating, as per the fairplay guidelines.

using any kind of third party software for an unfair advantage is the definition of cheating. It is now even more difficult for normal players to reach platinum. Now someone who could only reach gold last summit can download a software and up their race time's.
no, that isnt how it works. wheelmode doesnt guarantee plat in summit; those complaining are those in the upper ranks of skill leaderboards. you CAN get plat in summits with a controller with good car controller and track knowledge. Simgii is living proof of this. doesnt use Wheelmode and easily top 1k in summits.

Yeah it takes time. Had mine for about a year and I still think I suck most times.. but it's fun and more engaging than just sitting on the couch with a controller

It is cheating because you have to use 3rd party software to use it and the devs obviously did not intend this to be a thing or they would have put it in the Game by themselfs.
Also only pc players can do it and the Game has crossplay.

I have 250+ hours in this game and i have won 136 Grand Races and 90% of my races i am at least in the top 3. Nothing crazy but i am defenetly not a bad player.
My take is that crossplay is the big issue. Console players don't have access to wheel mode and not everyone can afford a wheel. And getting good with a controller on wheel mode is likely easier than getting better with a wheel. Getting a sim steering option is the way to go
Then there are people that can kick ass on controller just fine. The only reason you want a wheel is to make a racing game feel more immersive, otherwise there's no reason to get a wheel.

Pc players period have an advantage in cod, it’s very similar to this. They have capabilities that controller players just simply don’t have. I’ve always found this very ridiculous and blame the dev’s because regardless of what hardware you’re using everyone should be on an even playing field. Now a cronus is straight up cheating

The leaderboard is the biggest thing that needs to be talked about out.
i agree with you for what they need to do to "fix" the problem (atleast the core point of it). the problem isnt that the software exist. if they try to add in a way to detect the cheats, like you said, it will just be a game of cat and mouse of putting in detections, finding work arounds, putting in more detections, more work arounds, more detections, etc. they need to fix the core issue of why people are using the software. one of the better solutions would peobably be adding a "wheel mode" into the game
I'm a console player, so wheelmode is impossible for me.
Even then, I can achieve platinum in summits. I can even finish 1st place in Grand Race without using any meta cars.
BUT, things cannot stay the way they are currently. If Ubisoft really want to make the game "fair" for anyone, they should just add wheelmode in the game as an option, as it is the simplest way of making it fair, rather than "ban and workaround", like Sid said himself.
The cheating/unfairness of wheelmode comes from the fact that this game is crossplay, so a part of the community are not able to access wheelmode even if they wanted to.
So is it cheating? Currently, yes. If everyone were to have access to it, then no.
This is why i don’t bother with grand races or even bothering to try on summits i just play the game to chill and cruise

For this reason and annoying metas i mainly just do multiplayer cruising or demo royale
i played a grand race for the first time. did 5 of them yesterday and only once did a console player make podium in those 5 races
I've been using wheel mode for a little over a week now and it has genuinely made the game way more fun to play.
I'm not good enough to take advantage of it competitively, but it does allow me to recover from slides and collisions better. Mostly, it just fixes many issues I've had with the handling in this game. I can finally countersteer properly, I can adjust my line mid-corner, I can change directions and go through chicanes properly. It just feels so good to use the analog sticks like analog sticks, instead of just left and right buttons.
I really hope IVT allows us to play around with the steering settings to emulate that experience. If the steering sensitivity was maybe at like 70% of wheel mode and we had a tiny bit of speed bias, it would be perfect for my liking. Just give us the tools to tailor the steering to our preferences.

Options -> Controls -> Steering and Options -> Controls -> Throttle.
@@Attackplaya feels more arcady, because the steering filters present in the game try to emulate a more "realistic" steering behavior. But that's precisely why the ability to adjust things to your liking is necessary.
This is the main reason why I've disliked the steering filter and was looking for a solution to fix the steering issues since noticing them within the first 3 days of the game being out. Everything you've mentioned is precisely the same things I found myself as well. I wish IVT would let players have more control over how they want their steering to feel. And the hard capped deadzone of ~25% which still exists after setting in-game deadzone to 0 is a very poor and overlooked design choice.

Everyone isn’t cheating, PC players are.
PC players can use external tools for an advantage, that’s cheating. TC2 was split by platform so it didn’t matter if you were on console like most of the players are.
It seems to be the case now its more the PC players with the added application to give them a advantage but I'm unsure split platforms are any better in reality,
I'm sure if you looked hard enough on the internet you may find a cheat engine or some other application for consoles just like you still can for a original Crew game,
I still see people racing on that game cheating in lobby's even though not many now play in the Crew lobby's.
My opinion for what it's worth,
If some 3rd party application not part of a game but needs to be added to help you gain a advantage over other players and thats not available to all game players is cheating.
Agreed, if they just made controller comparable to wheel (or wheel mode in game) so we can compete. I tried to use wheel mode but the last steps didn't work. lol. fun fun.
i see a lot of people saying that a wheel player will be better than controller, but like you said you have to get REAL good with a wheel first in order to gain said advantage, therefore only affect top 10% MAX of the player base if not less people... i'm not saying that it's not bad for theses players but we need to be real for a second here.
the thing with wheel mode that makes it a "cheat" imo even tho it's also super hard to play withis the fact that you don't have to deal with a wheel, pedals and all that shit, everything is in your hands and that's it.
i played with normal controller, wheel mode and wheel, wheel is BY FAR the hardest to play with. in less than 5h with wheel mode i was already crushing my best times on normal controller, with the wheel tho... 5h is nowhere near to be enough for that to happen. I guess you could lower your wheel rotation which could potentially make it "easier" but it is still far harder than controller.
Yes the easy fix is to make wheelmode part of the game again, but they won't do that, they haven't done that for tc2 and they won't for Motorfest
all i see are cheaters making excuses , whether it's an "exploit" or a bug, purposefully abusing it to get ahead of players in a PvP setting is unnacceptable. remove that shit so that its actually fairplay.

That logic doesn't make much sense imo
Wheelmode =/= steering wheel.
Wheel users need to actually rotate the wheel to cornering angle, and back to straight. Catching traction loss requires precision inputs to pedals and steering angle. Simply keeping a car straight requires constant input. Getting instant max steering and instant straightline with taps on an anolog stick, max throttle, and with no instability issues, is way more of an advantage than just playing on a wheel.
And the flicks/Scandinavian flicks refill nitrous with the drifty Legend Points as well, so you're also faster in Summits due to having a larger pool of nitrous throughout a course.
I always find it ironic that the people with the most confident 'opinions' on things have the least actual real world use experience and familiarity with the thing they ‘pretend’ to have factually correct information and knowledge of how it works… Just making spewing biased assumptions and throwing out random wild guesses, thinking they know what they are talking about…
@@Tesseract69 I have a wheel, and I know how wheel mode works. So what am I saying that's a wild guess? Wheel mode reduces Steering Linearity to 0. Allowing instant max steering left and right, even at max speeds. Typically, steering on a controller is mitigated by speed. So pushing max steering at 0mph will give you 70○ rotation, but at 200mph you're reduced to say 35○ of rotation, since a person wouldn't typically want to actually over-rotate car at speed when driving. And the movement speed is limited to what they presume is the average time it take a person to turn a steering wheel and back. But with wheel mode, you can get 70○ rotation at 0mph or 200mph, and with much quicker turning speed. And in the middle of a turn, you can max steer 70○, return to 0○ straght, and then max steer again multiple times. Thus creating sustainable oversteer and easy mid-corner corrections. And with the game rewarding nitrous for drifting, you also get nitro bonuses for doing so in Summit events. So tell me, where am I wrong?

I got motorfest because i enjoyed the feel on my wheel and didnt realize how much easier it was until i switched to a controller to drive motorcycles since i cant turn on it with a wheel.
This exploit or whatever you want to call this seems like its easier then even using a wheel , have to rotate 900° compared to just flicking the stick
I think they should allow more customization for controllers because there is a difference in what you can do for example how far you can turn

@@Rogersslike They always try to justify the cheating way they play. Ive suspected from TC2 days that there is a lot of folk using mods. And its always them same names. And they are all in a little gang together all knowing what exploits to use. I blame Ubisoft/IVT also, As if they would grow some balls and ban them who are using exploits/cheats etc.
What they dont realise is that a lot of casual players will soon see who these players are, And will leave the game. Its the same in Grand race. Ive got same car and side my side certain players and then the shoot away from me everytime. And normally the same CHEAT name players win over and over. For some reason they disapear in rally and rally raid events. So maybe the exploit does not work as well.
Anyway ive took a huge step back from playing because of this and do summit and then leave. Its strange how lots of the players switched from xbox/psn to now play PC. I wonder why !!!! ha ha ha

i dont really understand the point of the unnamed individuals comment. you're using 3rd party software to alter your inputs, thats cheating. you can try and justify it whichever way you like, but it is cheating. the fact that "the people who call it out are slow" is completely irrelevant. the fact that wheel players have this sort of steering is somewhat relevant, but not related to if using external software to gain an advantage yourself is cheating or not. that said the fact that wheel has an advantage has always been incredibly dumb and should have been adressed years ago. the need to resort to 3rd party software cause the game by default is hurting your pace is just terrible game design.
Wheelmode was added in tc1 because people like myself complained about the advantage wheel had, it wasnt there from the start. the problem with a toggle is that a vast majority of casual players wont be able to get used to such insanely sensitive steering. on top of that it isnt usable on keyboard, so keyboard players would still be left out. the true solution would be a sensitivity slider of sorts that can fade between these modes, so everyone can adjust the level of sensitivity they want to play with.
The Unnamed individual who i think i know who it is. They are trying to convince themselves its not cheating. But anyone using a 3rd party program are CHEATS. In grand race you get the same name players win over and over. I was up with them for a little while. But me being on normal controller could not compete. I watched them corner much easier. You dont see the cheats as much in rally raid/Rally. Not sure if its harder for them to use exploit in them Grand races.

I got a logitech g29 for around $300, so no, brand-new, even with entry level wheels, 100 pounds isnt enough. And just to show how much money $300 is, I bought a PS4 brand-new for around the same price, actually slightly less.
Surely adding wheel mode to controller is like adding aim assist to kbm on cod, wheel mode exists for wheel specifically just like aim assist exists for controller? If I were to third party a sticky aim software onto cod for when I play kbm isn’t it the same principle here or am I missing something

Resets are a bigger issue in the game. Whether you call it a cheat or an exploit, it is just dumb and hopefully is patched because it promotes slamming into things which causes general meyham in every tight and hairpin section unless you're way behind or way in front. Nothing is more annoying than having a race ruined by 14 people in one corner trying to bounce and reset while they take out the other half of the field. Tha't not a skill based problem; that is a gameplay problem that has allowed a behaviour to fester and become "the norm".
Real wheel players are impressive. Nothing impressive about exploiting. No way winning an arcade racer is so serious to the point we need 3rd party apps.

Mmmm this take is sketchy. I'm sorry but I know a lot of the Crew 2 tracks and I was the best at racing games of my friends in the two different neighborhoods I lived in growing up. I beat more GT3, beat, Midnight Club 3 Dub, and even though it doesn't matter for the sake of difficulty beat NFSU2/Underground on hard mode. (NFS series isn't difficult) I couldn't beat anyone onle in Crew 2, and I could see when my oppoenents turning tigher. I never knew why until now. I don't say cheaters, but I will say that people are right to be angry at their disadvanage especially when people are always shitting on controller players. Why are we even talking pickup and play no game is pick up and play. It takes time to get used to physics in a game. It takes some time to get used to the tool, but the point everyone is making is advantage state. Which is the elephant glaring at you and saying yeah, you were at a obvious and large disadvantage. Esspecailly when you take into account flicking! Third elephant in room is you pooping on controller players by calling wheel players better. Say the best controller is unaware of software and the disadvantage state. ( Now he downloads it and after getting confident with the tool starts eating wheel players for breakfest. You can't just go making crazy exclaimations pooping on the controller player to justify this point. No this is a disadvantage state nobody was aware of and controller players had a right to be angry. Now if your unwilling to use the tool because you think it is a exploit. ( OK you've got even more reason to be angry but knowly being angry about a disadvantage state you can fix.... isn't everbody elses fault )
I see your point, but I think your defending it poorly. Point is you as a controller player are at a disvantage why ban the tool when you can use it. The answer is don't ban it or whine until ubisoft fxes your problem. Remove your own disadvantage state. The only reason controller plays the way it does it to make it feel more natural given what your used to as a consumer of arcade racing games on controller. They want to appeal to the standard player, so if they remove the tool you'll probably just be left out of option that evens playing ground. I don't see you as the bigger gamer if you aren't making use of what is avaliable, know your disadvantage state, loose, complain, and don't do anything about it. Don't ban a guy for leveling the playing feild against the try hard meta gamer. It is annoying enough that we have meta gamers that don't give a hoot about anything but the W by any means necessary. It is refreshing that we have some people out the that recongnize your at disadvantage state and did something about it by making software you can use to close the gap.
Mark my words : allowing wheelmode as an official option will make more mess in the community and will make the game more unbalanced

@@Ultra-Lightning Not at all sadly. The purpose of a game is to attract everyone, casuals and tryharders.
If you add an option that litterally change the physics of the game in a better way, all tryharders will switch to that option and use it for Grand Race. One of the principal key to attract casuals is the GR.
But if they see that every tryhards strangely gets better turns because of that option, casuals will be frustrated and try this option. The big issue of wheelmode is that it is extremely hard to control your car, and casuals will just be even more frustrated and quit the game entirely
Add an option specifically for tryharders is a bad game design overall. This will create a scission in the community and unbalance the entire game to the point of losing a lot of players. The best way to nerf wheelmode is to nerf wheel.
and those who use wheel mode and with programs are bad at driving games and those things bother ubisoft should ban those who use wheel mode with cheat programs for life
i use wheelmode. Not my fault they forced that horrible steering filter with dead zone that u cant turn off on controller players.

It is your fault, Beacause you are using it as an advantage. The sooner Ubisoft/IVt grow some balls and BAN them from game that includes your IP so you cant play again Ubisoft products.
Of course its cheating. Its an exploit, you’ve said it yourself, you need an external tool in order to enable wheelmode, if it was allowed, you’d be able to toggle the wheelmode on/off inside of the game configuration. There’s no arguing with that, Its cheating, end of story. What we need to know is how ubisoft will manage this problem and the cheaters.
Also, of course that a WHEEL is FASTER than a controller, this is a racing game, it’s meant to play on a wheel, just like gran turismo/assetto corsa/ iRacing and every other racing game. Its not pay to win, just how it’s supposed to be, Wheel will always be faster than a controller if you know how to play it.

Ima be honest, i use wheelmode. Not because it gives me an advantage or anything, i like it cuz it makes the game super challenging for me and it helps me experience a new type of racing. Its honestly really fun and im not gonna stop until i master it.

What a load of rubbish, Its not a skill issue for some who use controller fairly. But using a Mod to gain advantage is a CHEAT as it makes it much harder for the fair players.. As a God fearing man, I will not be cheating on a stupid game for an advantage. If you choose to do it, Well shame on you. Are people really that desperate to be top of leaderboards in a daft game. Are people really this bad at the game? So bad they have to accuse people of being better simply by changing inputs? Spoiler: If you are on controller, and a car is not turning well, you can fix it easily in Pro Tuning for that car by decreasing camber and adjusting the sway bars. Furthermore, turning in Motorfest is actually dictated primarily by throttle response. If you hold the right trigger down about 40-50%, that will often throw your car into a drift. If you hold it 100% down, then your car will go more in a straight line which causes your understeer. Honestly, affixes are more "cheating" in Motorfest and that's simply because most people using them farmed them with a macro rather than spending the hours upon hours grinding for them.
