Thats an extremely ignorant comment. The bass being turned down wasn't even said until people complained about it after J. Newstead joined the band & it has only ever referred to the mixing on the recording of the AJFA album.
Nobody has ever said that about any recording , mixing or album prior to that with C. Burton on bass, including Master Of Puppets.
You may be right that he wouldn't lower the bass volume... but, I think this video just might give him the idea to start whining for the NEXT 40 YEARS that he wrote this song too! I can hear him now, "...I DID SO write "Master Of Puppets"!!! Didn't you see me perform it live on that AI UA-cam video? That was me! I wrote the lyrics, all the RIFFS, AND all the leads! I wrote them & then Kirk tried to duplicate my leads, but I guess he tries...I play it better!!! I mean, Kirk's not a bad guitar player, but I got this big stick up my ass, so I'm better than he is!" ...

James Hetfield has written the majority of Metallica’s songs and has a net worth of 400 million, so clinging to something that happened 40 years ago is pointless. If Dave is such a genius how come he didn’t turn Megadeth into a brand like Metallica did? It’s not even Megadeth anyways, it more Dave, with all the lineup changes.
I totally agree with you, and I’m not fond of Megadeth and hate Mustaine’s voice. Anyway, kill em all , ride the lightning and even on Master (leper messiah for example) they stole his work… true fact. Now, I agree with you, the guy is certainly bipolar, he can’t sing (or like a duck) and do not have the James’s charisma. This is a really big difference and gap. Even Slayer cannot compare.

Yeah, I didn't like Hetfield's voice for the first three albums (it began to improve on AJFA, but was best from Black Album on), so I think he would have been the better vocalist for that era. And I always wished Metallica would have re-done the first three albums with his better voice.

I think the most incredible part is that this AI model is based on '94 Dave - I only used Youthanasia samples! Depending on the songs I hit it up with the it invokes different eras of Dave. So much fun. I ended up making models of Risk-era Dave and early 2000's Dave and they all are shockingly similar in result, but as you go through the years, he gives less vibrato, high range and rasp than hear around the Youthanasia era.

It's fun now. But it'll be the death of musicians making any money other than touring and there will be less of it. This will be as devastating as when the internet killed the music business 20 years ago. Why buy music from anyone ever again when an AI can make music for you and you alone based on your taste? We'll have thousands of songs nobody else has and nobody will care because they will have thousands of songs nobody else will have also. It doesn't end well for people like me who have been playing for 30 years and dedicating much of our lives to writing and performing music and other forms of art. It's so ridiculously bad I can hardly comprehend it. Nobody saw this coming but I see the end and it's a year or two away at most.
Culturally, a fucked up world for sure, but gems like this one make it a bit easier to stand
@@scottashe984I think music is also a dedication for people. For example, hardcore fans will buy their favourite band's cds and physical copies, although they can listen to the songs online. It's a form of tradition, which lives in people forever. Maybe in the future, you can listen to songs only you have, but where's the fun in it? There'll be no one to talk about it, because it's only yours. It ain't special, considering the fact that everyone would have thier "own" music. I'd probably never enjoy such ai-written songs as much I enjoy real music. And since bands probably won't fake their music just got get rich (they are rich anyway), I think we are kind of safe in this situation. Of course there should be new form of laws for plagiarism and for copyrights, for example a "new metallica song" written by ai would be completely demonetized, if the band decides to do it so. You can't even give credits to anyone anyways, bc it's completely "unreal". In conclusion, I believe in those who have brain and standards, and will continue to support real artists.
@@scottashe984 It's a good reflection you've made, but consider the roles that music plays in humanity. It's a language, it expresses thoughts and feelings of a speaker. The AI doesn't really have creative means, it's just an extrapolation of aggregates. There will always be a hunger for live music performed by real people.

God I'm tired of this dead horse being beaten, but essentially Metallica in the 80's tended to have rhythm guitar mult-tracking with the bass being mixed low. This is as much on James as it is Lars. James is the dominant creative element even though people scapegoat Lars for whatever issues they have with Metallica (as if James wasn't already writing slower and groovier songs in anticipation of the Black Album before Lars or Bob Rock allegedly brainwashed him). Yes, AJFA has almost comically low bass guitar but the power of the rhythm guitar is so colossal that nobody complained about the bass issue for a long, long time... Plus each 80's Metallica album has less and less audible bass guitar than the previous album so people weren't shocked about the AJFA mix.
Alterante reality: Dave stopped doing drugs, never got fired from Metallica and he and James share vocals on the band.
