    I think what is really noteworthy is that dust has inflation. This means that buying out with influence becomes stronger, the longer the game takes.

    • @andyreznick
      @andyreznick 5 років тому +10

      Excellent point! An Item that costs 100 Influence in the planetary build queue would cost double in dust - 200 - even to begin with. As the game goes on inflation changes the dust cost, but has no effect on influence. So, for example, when Dust Inflation reaches 5.0 it now costs 1,000 dust but/or still only 100 influence for that same item. This also means that spending your influence at the market for luxuries, heroes, etc, at a simple 1:1 dust/influence ratio is a very bad deal for the UE; suitable only for a desperation move. Better to use influence for items in the planetary queue and dust at the market.

      Ah yes the lumeris monopolizing the dust in the whole galaxy and making everyone else spend insane amount of money on all the shit

    The reason it's a unique tech without having any unique aspects is because Government Diversity has a description specific to the United Empire. It's kind of like most of the Riftborn colonization techs, where they're all listed as unique, but only differ in description.

    • @WaervynsWorld
      @WaervynsWorld  7 років тому +7

      True, the description is different! I'm inclined to believe that the buff to Federation for United Empire has something to do with it too though!

    Hey, wait a minute, that soldier's armour looks familiar....
    Oh yeah, Wolfenstein and ADVENT had that kind of armour, cool.

    The faction intro starts out very Starship Troopers, but ends up rather Fallout/Cyberpunk.

    Thank you so much!! Finally!! a useful guide from someone that seems to know to play haha thank you much. I love United Empire and so far has been the one I play in all my games thanks to his versatility with the change of factions. Still how I read other comments the order of research/ build is the thing that I find hard and as you said, I reach always a point when I just put in queue all the buildings becase I can do them and I don't know why make planets focusing in something when they can have all. Thank you so much.

    Ah yes, nothing better than my own personal Great Grumpy Leader, top tier tech right there.

    Waervyn's World- when you research that tech for having more governments available what it does is it boosts the stat for federation government from + 2 planets to +4 meaning you can colonize 2 more planets then you previously did. I learned that when I was changing my government from the federation to diplomatic when I was able to colonize 26 planets before the penalty.

    Great video! I really appreciate how much time and effort you put into these. I really look forward to eventual strategy guides in the future! The main thing I struggle with sometimes is technology pathing for certain empires. Keep up the good work!

    • @WaervynsWorld
      @WaervynsWorld  7 років тому

      Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it! Myeah, technology pathing is also a problem for me still. Although I know the mechanics of how an empire works, I'm actually pretty terrible at long-term strategy in games. However, for me it's the learning process that's fun :)

    question to timestamp at around 11:00 with the topic of the "technology-specific-affinity-icon": does it mean that I dont need to research those and still account to the system?

    • @WaervynsWorld
      @WaervynsWorld  7 років тому +1

      If I understand your question correctly, it means that the technology is specific to the United Empire (as opposed to common to all empires). You still need to research them.

    Yeah at 6:32 with the hissho is a bit weird and confusing. I believe maybe the reason your manpower per turn is going up is due to you producing more food, or having less minus, the manpower boost from the hissho actually increases the total planet defense (my attempt to make sense of it from playing) which you see the percentage lowering when the Hissho was on a sterile planet (planet defense at 78% so higher total) then when you put the Hissho on a fertile planet the percentage increases (84% so a lower total planet defense). Does that make sense?

    • @DLusby
      @DLusby 7 років тому +1

      I was wondering about this myself.
      The bonus for the Hissho looks like it's implying it would either (1) increase the total global empire-wide Manpower reserve limit (per population point with that bonus) or (2) not increase the global limit but instead help add to the reserve, which is then capped by the limit. However I can't find any indication that this was going on but the icon they used matches the one we see for the global empire-wide Manpower reserve.
      In my game, I lost my only population of Hissho due to random conscription results and never got the race back.
      Just as a test and out of curiosity, I tried reloading a save to see what happens when you become the Sheredyn. One of the things you get is a per-population-point bonus identical to the Hissho. At that point I couldn't figure out what was going on. A wide empire with various systems in various states of development and mixed races... On top of that there was an additional +15% to both system Manpower defence limits and global reserve Manpower limits. This was due to having well over 50 population points of Sheredyn and getting extra bonuses. Replenishment rates-from system to system-didn't seem to vary that much, but... In my home system-that was suddenly almost four planets of all Sheredyn-its system defensive reserve limit jumped from something like 200 - 300 to 950 from the previous turn and was sucking Manpower from the global reserve in order to fill it.
      I was asking myself, did they use the wrong icon? Was I seeing things right? How is that bonus working?

    • @DLusby
      @DLusby 7 років тому +1

      But yeah, in the video the percentage-full of system defence being lower with the Hissho on the sterile planet makes sense if this is what's going on. He makes the system defence limit higher, so the percentage full is less as a result.
      I was wondering why the increase rate to the the global pool was going up and down with the point being moved around. Maybe since the system limit was higher and more Manpower was needed to fill it that turn, it was factoring in to the 'Manpower-needed/drawn' from the reserve versus what was being added by systems to fill it per-turn calculation.

    Its normal for every race to get +2 colony maximum from federation!! (atleast with the unfallen i played up to that point)

      @WaervynsWorld  7 років тому +1

      Hmm, with the Lumeris it says +1 in my game. Maybe it's dependent on race, galaxy size or game speed. I'll dig more into it! Thanks for notifying me!

      You can have about 20vs20, but games rarely last that long. Against human opponents that might be different though.
