Leave the bait at home. It forcing you to lure fish. Think fish highway. Look at wind and current. The tide will deliver baitfish for food to larger fish. Start with the basics like flathead and even freshwater dam bass fishing. Resist lure fashion. Just because some guy on social media is using a particular lure the fact is that you probably have the same style lure in your box. Buy decent rod, reel and lures. Avoid constant upgrading. It saves you heaps. You really know your species when you can consistently catch them on lures.
Totally agree with not following what most people do on social media. Just because I use a certain lure or brand doesn’t make it the be all and end all. There’s so many effective options out there these days.
Great video, I love this sort of content. I'm just trying to get into the soft plastic caper and all this sort of information is gold. I've just done a refurb on my tinnie that has been sitting at my parents for about 10 or more years. I've bought a good sounder and now need to learn how to use it, so an educational video on sounders would be amazing. Went out a week or so ago with the fam just off Wellington Point, they used bait and I stuck with a curly tail grub. They out fished me but I caught a reasonable Grassy, a small flathead and a few grinners. Nothing flash but it is confidence building. I really love the style of your videos, keep up the excellent work
Love your work mate, I've been fishing Brisbane River my whole teen life. we both fish the same spots. You're coaching has helped immensely! If I ever see you in person I'll throw you a beer 🍻
As previously said, leave all bait at home! Start with something easy. (my first lure captures were tailor on a wonder wobbler.) Support your local tackle shop. Mine is Charltons. Buy reasonable quality gear. Target a species and do some research. Keep going and start a diary.
Currents is also one of the big things to notice as well....fish are essentially lazy, they will select a spot that feeds them rather than a spot where they have to feed themselves. Pat attention to where they can spend less energy and be fed....the currents will bring the food to them. You bait needs to behave the right way in these spots...i.e. the lure needs to move with the current the same as the food does.
Biggest mistake I see a lot of people making is choosing not to wear a Terry towling hat. Wearing a Terry is guaranteed to improve performance on the water and in the bedroom 👍
Can you do a session at Hays Inlet, Clontarf. But land based???? Would love to see a pro do a video there to showcase what is around and what stuff works well in the area.
yo bro, just wondering how you go about fishing bridges (if you ever do landbased) cos i go around indro and the story bridge but i cant seem to catch bullies or threadies, (caught one each). i watched your other videos using no cirlce hooks and reluctant to use wire trace lol. also i think there is a flattie comp coming up and someone was maybe gonna take me out on there boat for it, so what would you reckon is good for flatties (with no experience lure fishing) i think its at the goldie. Cheers to anyone who can help.
Bridges like that id be more focused on the light lines and shadows cast by them. That’s typically where those predatory fish are gonna be and they’ll sit quite high in the water column. It’s such a deep stretch of the river through there and can be quite hard to fish it land based. But yeah I hate circle hooks and wire trace 😂 I’m pretty much just not fussed on shark fishing full stop if you couldn’t tell. 😂
Ngl lure fishing is p!ss easy. And this whole thing about “I only fish lures” or “I only fish with bait” is so silly, a good angler would know to take advantage of both forms of fishing to target what they want
Well in circumstances like that where bait and fish might be tough to find. I’ll sometimes drift those ‘likely’ areas that look good as far structure goes. If I get nothing after a drift I’ll move onto a new area and cover as much ground as I can. At certain times of the year that fish and bait life can be quite isolated.
It can be a real struggle aye. It helps once you catch that first fish too. Allows you to hone in on what works and builds that confidence up. Keep with it mate 👊
@ I’m hanging in there I’ve bought some scents to put on my plastics I’m trying to catch my first bass in my kayak let you know when I break my duck so far I’m got 5 fish less trips I think I wasn’t fishing the weed towers correctly I’ve bought some spinner baits and chatter baits got some good tips from other you tubers c how I go wish me luck

Thanks mate. Appreciate the comment, I hope it helps get you started. Maybe even addicted to lure fishing 😉 you’ll be catching heaps more.

Appreciate it mate. I’m glad to have helped you out 🙏🏻 that’s what it’s all about.

Thanks legend! Great advice
Happy to help 🙏🏻

Love the Charlton's support
Gotta support the local 👌 they’ve been helping me out for years
@@BrisVegasFishing Craig and the boys do wonders down there
Well done brother. So many people refuse to throw lures because of the unknown.
That’s it aye. I know I used to think that way a lot.
Biggest mistake I see a lot of people making is choosing not to wear a Terry towling hat. Wearing a Terry is guaranteed to improve performance on the water and in the bedroom 👍
😂😂 you’ve gotta have one on your noggin to catch aye. Dunno about improving performance in the bedroom that’s just an old fisherman’s superstition. 🤔

In the future I might be able to do something like that. 🤔
Great video
Thanks mate. Thought I’d try something a bit more educational to hopefully give some information to anyone just starting out.
Happy New Year matey, ok now lets see what you have been up to.
Thanks mate. Its gonna be a great year, got lots to come 😉

That’s it all forms of fishing have their place and can be utilised under different circumstances. 👌
What you recon about the electric motor? Is it really necessary? i feel my loud ass motor shuts down the fish?
It definitely does give you that element of stealth and ability to control a drift line. They do make a big difference when it comes to lure fishing.
How do you find fish in like a new spot I know you need to sound around but I am never able to find snd bait neither fish like at mud or in the river

If I get nothing after a drift I’ll move onto a new area and cover as much ground as I can. At certain times of the year that fish and bait life can be quite isolated.
I’m doing the things your talking about and I still can’t catch a fish
It can be a real struggle aye. It helps once you catch that first fish too. Allows you to hone in on what works and builds that confidence up. Keep with it mate 👊

Its all about the woo-woo.
It works 50% of the time all the time. You have to say, get your johnson ready, i can feel a bite. Or "spots about to fire"
Gotta have the phrases aye. You won’t catch a fish if you don’t speak it into existence 😂

Use bait
