Thanks . I’m swapping out an 18 speed this weekend on my 379 Pete . Makes a lot of sense to me . We all never quit learning all are lives and I’ve been in the business over 40 years . 👍🏻
That trick works really well! I've also found it easier to load the clutch on the input shaft rather than bolting it up and then getting the trans splined up.
Hell yeah good tip Steve, my pops taught me that at 15 after watching my buddy and I struggle like hell to put one back together and we got it our way eventually but I have always used the level method after that!! Got a fresh 18” of snow for you if ya want some!! 🤣🤣
Aaaahhh come on!!! 😡😡 that ain’t even funny!! It’s going to be about 15 degrees tomorrow morning when I start the old 379 to head out with a load of hay!!
You know I've never thought of that usually just jacked the ass up until it looked right never thought to try using a level this is why I listen to folks who've been doing it way longer than me

I'm borrowing that tip next time I replace a clutch, definitely working smarter not harder.

@Butch Holz no kidding sir it's getting hot here and trees are blooming
Thanks for the information
That’s a good idea. I’ll use that the next time I get to do a clutch. Thanks!
Yeah man that makes total sense the trans should slide right in if the engine is level with the floor
Great idea
Like you said, it's common sense.
👍 thanks
Best way to do a clutch is get someone else to do it 😂
