Look, if you really want onions early, you have to do it the right way. What's the right way? Naked, full-stamina, Eikthir power, and a healthy dose of insanity. Otherwise you're not goofing off hard enough.

Melee is stronger. Especially the porcupine weapon destroys everything.

5:43 is a trick that I found out about wolves and I think it can help yall, when a pack of wolves is targeting you just find a high rock (they are generated randomly on the ground, and wolves cant jump on them) jump on it and then bow spam them :)

So this entire video can be condensed down into, based on the title of this video: skirt around the edges of your mountain biomes until you find chests that contain the seeds. Save yourself the 15 minutes.
You will die of cold tho, unless you place a fire ever 5 meters up the mountain, so not entire lenght of video is a waste lol
@@JacoKruger. so get frost resistance like the game intended for you to do when to go to the mountain and search for chest.
If you know how, you can get most items in the game before taking out The Elder. Only things you can not access, are the ones that require Artisan Table(which you get from Moder). In our server, most of us are still sporting Troll Armour, but with Lox/Wolf Cape. We have onion, turnip and carrots en masse, have mined lots of iron and silver, built Greydwarf farms, Boar farms and Wolf**farms, and even have set up a Draugr farm. We've extracted lots of tar and will soon begin trying out a Lox Farm and gave found a space to set up a linen/barley farm. We usually play 3-6 ppl at once, which makes it easier. We have taken Elder to get the buff, but have not done Bonemass yet..
And no cheats!
You should definitely avoid exploring at night if you are worried about wolf packs as well. Not only will you find packs of up to four wolves at night while most wolves spawn solo during the day, but at night wolves can also have stars. While a regular wolf is okay to deal with in bronze armor, a one or two star wolf will wreck you quite handily... and so will a Fenring.
Doing my 3rd playthrough trying to cheese the game and get mountain done pre Bonemass, onions were really hard to find and it took exploring 3 large mountains before I grabbed some. Had already found 5 silver veins with the Stagbreaker and marked a ton of caves before finally getting onions!
Glad to know it’s not just me. I’m on my 6th large mountain, still no onions. I’ve explored out far enough to start running into plains biomes to boot, so finding these friggin onions is starting to seem like a waste of time. I’ve not even beat the Elder yet, but I have full wolf armor and silver weapons. Used the chair cheese to get into sunken crypts without the key, lol. Used Stagbreaker to find some silver, got some tar from tar pits, even got the harpoon and now have 2 Lox tamed and awaiting breeding.
But still. no. friggin. onions...
I beat the elder way before i had a forge. I had a basic bow and fire arrows. Took the elder out. What killed me was the foul smelling swamp raids. Was not prepared for that

If you go up there carrying a stagbreaker and hit the ground randomly until you see "too hard" you can find silver early as well...but you will need iron for the pickaxe first.

Troll armor should be good enough, the key really is having a good shield and using two good hp foods.
I'd be curious to see how the bone tower shield performs as an alternative to the bronze buckler.
And btw, cooked fish is another good food with 45hp, instead of deer meat - provided you found the merchant and you can be bothered to fish.
Also, while in the mountains, you might as well mine some obsidian for the workbench upgrade.
You're right for the troll and you have more mobility with it, but for the obsidian you need an iron pickaxe

@@rominoug3012 The troll breaks a lot of stuff. I imagine it would have no problem breaking resources on the mountain. You would have to bodyguard him for sure, I imagine most mobs would shred him.
Ignore the boneshield.... go straight for the serpent scales shield

Can't parry but tank a group of attackers, like 2 or 3 wolfs at the same time

TLDR: just play the game.
He requires lvl 3 full bronze, wander swamp, kill most mobs, potions. Everything you would normally do, just to get an onion. I went through swamp with only lvl 3 troll armor. Saved a lot of mining.
EDIT: I just found onions seeds in a chest in the mountains, ez.

Thanks for sharing about how difficult Hearth and Home made or didn't make things. I prefer to go in OP for any fight but some of the enemies still scare me, especially when in groups. You give me hope that maybe I won't die quite as often 😁
You can get Tier 4 bronze armor by killing the wraiths in the swamp for chains, which allows you to make the large bellows (no iron needed). Also, there is a technique to use Stagbreaker to find iron outside of crypts, but it takes a bit of practice and a lot of time and patience.
Also, I have ran 2 stam 1 HP in mountains and have been mostly ok. Drakes go down easy even with wooden arrows. Wolves a bit trickier (I use bone shield) but with the medium HP potion I can deal with one or two.
Can you explain the technique that you use to find iron outside of cripts?
@@bluebird8105 With Stagbreaker, every time that you hit something that is a destructible object it produces a damage amount floating number - even if the number is 0. Stagbreaker's effect also affects into the ground slightly.
So the trick is to wander around the swamps, using Stagbreaker to hit the ground, and look for floating 0 damage that is not tied to a tree or a rock. It is a time consuming and inefficient process, but can be done! There are videos on this site on how to do it.
I found the best locations were rises in the swamp, such as along the border with another biome or a larger hill inside the swamp.

Turn off your Depth of Field if you're going to be looking for structures and don't want to study a blurry mess in the distance.

Valheim after heart and home - first boss- stamina, 2nd boss- inventory space, 3rd boss- long resource grind.4th boss- trying to find a 2 star wolf, 5th boss-movement mechanics
Sooo you can cheese and suffer to rush ahead, and skip content of the game, so you can then go back to what you skipped and have it trivialized with OP foods.... OR you can just play normally, and enjoy the progression system. :0
When done right, with a good shield you are invincible
Definitely made the game harder for me. I used to use only troll armour until I got to plains and then made padded.
I'm finding it harder to do this now.
Troll is fine for mountains... just get the silver armor and you don't have problems
I have a snowy peak on my starter island. I'm thinking of trying to stealth up there in my troll hide set.
But I will probably buy both the fishing rod and weight belt first so I can run fish meat easier than the rare washed ashore...

For safer leech kills you can invest some items in poison resist potions
They are killed easily with wood arrows.

@@stanimir4197 eh, onion soup is pretty good stamina and only require that 1 ingredient, unlike the soups that come before it. That's worthwhile, but it's also not hard to get either.
Don't even need a frost mead, just strategically-placed fire to not freeze to death while exploring.
I love the content. I use your knowledge doing my No mod vanilla Ironman attempts (If you can even call them that lol). Keep up the good work.

I needed a total of 2 frost resistance potions in my new run while I was searching for the leviathans I found a small plains biom island with 2 loxes and a rock. Jumped on the rock, killed the loxes, went for the nearest mountain next to my base farmed some silver, which took me 2 potions. Build the lox cape. Got tons of onions. All of that directly after the elder
how did you find silver without wishbone? is it just visible to the eye?

That means there's something under the ground, what the stage breaker can't handle. On stone and wood you'll get just a 0

You can also wear a troll cape in addition to your 3 bronze for some extra armour.

If you want to kill leeches without getting poisoned, you can just stand on the ground and chuck a spear at them. The spear drops right when it hits them so you can just pick it right back up again, almost always without having to set foot into water.
You could also use arrows, but I have gotten so used to the spear method I don't even bother wasting the arrows, (cheap as they are)
if you are just trying to get past them without doing anything and you have to go through a bunch of water then you can just use a hoe and justflatten the ground you prolly know this but still :/
I use Stagbreaker, hurts multiple leaches, save on arrows and has better range than other melee

@@HappyisNugget Also don't forget as its blunt it's good against blobs and skellys too, especially blobs in the sunken crypts you can kill them before you break through the room they are in (if you don't have Iron Sledge yet)
I feel like it's a wasted opportunity to not run a Dagger, Sword or Mace and take advantage of the middle mouse button super attack following a parry block stagger.
Or atgeir because it pushes wolves back and staggers them with the middle mouse button

Great video. I just wanted to say a Root set of armor has the same base armor as the bronze armor but with -2% movement speed opposed to -5% for the bronze. Plus there's +15% skill boost for bows.
ye but dont you need to kill abominations to get it? may be hard or just take a lot of time when in bronze age
@@notmyoxid Yeah, I have a high base by the swamp with a ditch dug around it. I agro the abominations and kite them to my base. I get up high and spam fire arrows. It was worth all the work because you need Root to rank up your armor set. I play with my daughter, her old man and my grandson so we needed a lot of Root.

I reccomend running the atgeir and double stamina. Its alternative attack staggers wolves 100% of the time

yeap, knocks wolves back about 10-20 feet. Even the gremlins over in the plains.
Vanilla Food was by and far superior quality compared to new foods to be fair. You could be a very thicc viking with a very good stamina pool which requires you to be using Mistlands recipes to replicate. On onions, we've been running up into the mountains using campfires to make paths to towers or cabin ruins we could see since release. Chests would often have onion seeds and on occasion Frost Arrows as well as Obsidian pieces.
This playthrough, I am defeating swamp crypts solo. I couldn't do that with the same gear last time. Bronze and using the new food. Deer soup, mince meat, and queens jam.

I have been planning to not kill the elder yet so I can build my base in peace ( it's going to be large)without troll events. I have been searching for a swamp and then hope to find oozers for that 30% iron scrap droprate get 2 iron and then build the stonecutter:) now I know I can safely go in there
Also I know about the chair trick but It feels cheaty to me lol.
My group still skips bronze armor and runs troll hide until we get iron, and a few of them even hold out for silver. Game was never that hard. Just tons of fun, amd good laughs.

How is that working out with the update? Because I feel like this update make high armor super important because of the new stagger mechanics.
@@Firespark81 running fully upgraded troll armor with bronze buckler in the swamp isn't a problem if you are a but cautious. I carry a poison potion Incase multiple blobs but generally have not needed it.
@@Firespark81 I'm not having too much trouble running Troll Armour anywhere but mountains and plains.
Even mountains is ok with higher level weapons, shield, and foods. You just have to pay very careful attention to your surroundings, but you can survive a hit or two from most things.
I've tried plains as well, you can survive one hit from some things, but not others. It's still doable but if the game throws too many things at you at once you might be screwed.
I should mention just in case you don't know that the workbench requirement for Troll Armour has been reduced by one, so you can max level it now.
I'm actually going to try running troll tunic, and pants with lox cloak and iron helmet to get better protection without the movement penalty. I could use a higher tier helmet but I don't like the way they look with the troll armour and fashion > protection :P
I never really messed around with mixing armours because I wanted to keep the sneaky bonus, but it's not really that good and the main benifit of Troll Armour is the freedom of movement.

yeah bronze armor is too much of a pain to bother with when compared to how much easier iron is to get (once you have troll)
I never considered the elder too difficult after you know the boss mechanics. I did it on deer meat, honey and boar jerky

I was fighting so many wolves last time i eventually ran out of stamina.
I decided to run back to base, it was close by, but they outrun you when you're out of stamina.
Death was imminent.

I'm having a tough time with wolves and drauger archers. I've died a lot to both of them. The Wolves have a 3 bite combo which I can't figure out the pattern to so that I can parry. It seems like their attack is quicker now and not much of a lunge as it used to be - just bite, bite, bite. And them I'm dead. : D
The Drauger archers are so annoying the the swamp now because if you don't see them and there's 2 of them, 2 arrow hits kill you, even with pretty good health and armor. It's almost like the devs turned the tables on the archer situation. :D
Either way, I'm still having a ton of fun, it's just more challenging now. I've just gotten my onion farm going, so hopefully that will help.
Build a polearm
Toss a spear at leeches for easy ranged kills without using consumable arrows.
My problem is, I’ve fully explored 6 large mountains now, to the point where I’m running into plains biomes, even have 2 Lox tamed and awaiting breeding, and have YET to find onions. Not. One. Is their spawn perhaps tied to a boss fight? I haven’t even fought the Elder yet, but I’m basically at the silver age (cheesed my way into some crypts for iron).
I’ve come across like 4-5 of those shacks in the mountains, none guarded by a skeleton, none containing onions. They were guarded by stone golems though, so that was fun. Lol.
But seriously, I’m at the point now where I could more reliably farm serpent AND Lox meat than find onions.
So I guess my questions are:
1. Are onion seed spawn tied to a boss fight?
2. Is it even worth it? Or should I just move on to plains food. (I know, I’m gonna have to fight the dragon before I can make plains food, that’s why I ask if onions are tied to a different boss)
I have the same problem, but I'm about to face the queen in the mist lands and I still haven't found any onions and I'm tired of looking
I risked my stuff searching like 5 towers and I found no onion. It's super rare as far as I can tell. Not only that, but even looking at the map seed viewer you can see that many mountain areas don't even have a single chest to check. I wonder if it was patched. I'm not such a good player so the mountains are super dangerous for me, heh. I recommend reading the map seed viewer, making a mini base for corpse running near a mountain that you know has lots of treasure chests. I'm down to that option, but maybe I'll just skip it.
this game is super random i didn’t find turnips till like hour 15 in the swamp but found onions my first try. made the turnips mostly useless since i found the onions first.

Lvl3 trollhide should be fine when running optimal foods. You'll likely be staggered by the wolves if they hit you with the suboptimal food setup though.

I cheesed my way onto the mountains long before I had bronze armor. Just gotta run up there and build a portal before you freeze to death. Go through portal, get warm, come back, build some walls around your portal and build a fire. Now you have a mini base in the mountains that you can start your runs from.
@@actionmarco8556 great idea! leapfrog these yurts up the mountain. Take the portal down, run up the mountain, drop another portal...
Or just drop the fire down...
Rinse repeat til you are to a rebuild able house like in the video...
Now when you pop back you're building the broken house up into a survivable FOB.
Um, a few things-
One- there's no going to the swamp with "just" bronze armor, since that is the armor you're intended to go there with and what its balanced for... Bronze was fine for the mountains too before H+H, but while still usable is a bit trickier now due to new stagger characteristics.
Two- I disagree about avoiding stuff in the mountains if possible. A finewood bow is fine for dealing with drakes, especially if you bring fire arrows, and ganking a few wolves is desirable in order to get at least 4 hides for a rug for increased comfort, and to get a bit of wolf meat to eat, even if you wont get the full benefits of wolf meat till you have the chopping block.
Three- I'll call you back to your April 21st video- you're sleeping on your atgeir again, stop it. Even a lvl 1 bronze atgeir will knock back and stun a two-star wolf, so it IS in fact possible to fight wolf-packs in the mountains if you have to as long as youre careful about it. Theyre not auto-death. You do have to be careful though. Note- while a lvl 1 atgeir will stun a 2-star wolf, it wont stun it for long and it wont hurt it much, so stamina management is key to survival if youre lucky/unlucky enough to run into one.
Unrelated- If your particular circumstances and goals permit, its not a bad idea to dig the occasional small pit to lure wolves into for taming purposes as you travel just in case. With proper positioning a good circle-swing with an atgeir will knock one back into your pit easily enough. Kicking also works but is harder to safely use, so stick with the atgeir unless youre confident in your positioning and kick timing.
For wolf taming just make your pits a bit bigger with a pole in the middle.
When you stand on that pole the wolves will walk into the pit by themselves.

At least wolves are easy to find nowadays after Hearth and Home- Iron Gate- "The mountains are pretty light on food, so we've improved that." Players- "Nice!" Iron Gate- "We quadrupled the number of wolves." Players- "You what? Ow, hey! Ow, Ow, OWWW, MY SPLEEN, MY VALUABLE SPLEEEEEN!!" Other player- "Oh yes, very funny. Verrrry funny!" :P

The last time i tamed wolves i reused a pit from mining silver and left a pole of voxel in the middle so it was the same hight as the surroundings.
Wooden platform on top made it easy to jump onto it.
Corewood might work too i just don't know how long it will hold up against the wolves once they are inside.
@@Landogarner83 Nods, I've used old silver pits for taming or trapping golems too, when there's more than one silver vein in a small area, but I also start with digging a wolf pit before I start on the first vein or on an isolated vein so I have a place to put wolves if I get interrupted mid-silver.

5:20 That demonstration is pretty impressive. Yesterday I just made my first attempt at the mountain biome (ahead of schedule searching for onions, only just started the swamps). I had troll armor and bronze buckler. The wolf's first attack staggered me, and he attacks quick enough that I was stagger locked. 3 or 4 hits and my guy died and quite literally the only thing I could do was stand there and watch it happen.
yea they have made high armor a priority in H&H. Tbh I would just skip troll go from leather right to bronze then upgrade bronze max and as soon as you get iron do the same thing with iron.
@@Firespark81 Maybe next time. Lol. I'm wearing troll armor now to reduce the grind required for bronze and am about to skip straight to iron armor. Grinding out bronze is such a pain, so I went with bronze weapons and troll armor for simplicity this go-round.
I heard you can actually max troll armor now. I need to look at the difference between it and bronze. Buy I feel ya they need to get rid of tin and bronze and just make it copper.
@@Firespark81 Not sure what the max is, but at level 3 troll armor, I've got 10 armor per piece (cape is at 3 armor) for 33 total.

You don't need to be prepared at all, just learn to dodge roll and stamina management
If Poison damage now stacks, does this mean that shooting a enemy with a Draugr Fang mean that they take Poison damage s and Fire/Frost/Spirit damage from arrows? Does this mean that all other types of damage stack?
Also I have also noticed that there is less Liches in the swamps now.
I have noticed that when i take on the brutes at night, it seems that fire damage stacks on them. I even tested it, and you could see a clear difference in the damage ticks than with a single arrow.
So, I just went on an onion hunt. I explored 3-4 mountain regions, looked in every building I could find, died a few times by the hand of stone golems, I either did not get any chest in the building, or there was no onion in the chest... :-/ But at least got me some juicy obsidian. :)
I have to say, firespark seems a LOT luckier than I am at finding things on the first attempt. He found Moder in the first biome he checked while I spanned half the globe before Moder appeared on a regisvir.
As I have heard Northern Indians say: "some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you". Seems to apply to onion hunts as well ;-)

If you don't want to risk Mountain with the Bronze Buckler, try to kill a Serpent which is easily doable with an upgraded Finewood Bow. Then, when you go into Swamp, use the Chair trick at the doorway to get into a Crypt without the Swamp Key. Or just kill the Elder and get the Swamp Key. Either way, you only need to get 4 Iron, which you should get from the first Muddy Scrap Pile at the entrance, hopefully not even having to fight anything inside the Crypt. With 4 Iron from the Crypt and 8 Serpent Scales from the Serpent, you can craft the Serpent Scale Shield. You can't parry with it but its block ability is equivalent to a Silver Shield, It gives Block Armour of 60, compared to Block Armour of 28 for level 3 Bronze Buckler. That should be enough to handle Wolf attacks.
One of the limiting factors there tho is finding enough chitin from the kraken to craft a harpoon. I've been sitting on a stack of 20 for ages and haven't found him again yet to collect more.
The problem with this is that tower shields (like the Serpent Shield) don't allow you to parry. Combining this with the wolves' high attack speed means you always up getting hit when trying to attack
To sum it up.. look in mountain chest to find them. Cheat to get there like this kid pretended he didnt.

I've cleared swamps and crypts and been in the mountains and taken down drake's in troll armor, and I'm not that good.
I have done Troll Armour all the way through before, generally better to change up to Silver/Wolf once in plains though.
Found I had Onion seeds was not even sure where I got them, now I know, even though I doubt Onions would actually grow in Snow up a freezing mountain, funny place to put them.

On my current playthough, I used the armour of each biome. But now that I'm in Plains, I've reverted to Troll armour. I'm using the Blackmetal Tower Shield because it blocks everything, nothing gets through even at base level. I don't parry because I have lousy framerate due to potato PC, and the missing frames/stuttering often means that parry timing is off. However, the slowing of the tower shield plus heavy armour meant that the game was like wading through treacle. So I kept the fully upgraded Padded helm as that doesn't slow you down, swapped out the other Padded armour pieces for fully upgraded Troll chest and legs, and I'm zoom-zooming now. My foods (Onion Soup, Bread, Fish Wraps) give me around 140 HP and 210 Stamina at peak. So I can outrun almost anything, and my Stamina never drains fully. Even Fulings give up chasing me after a few seconds, I just turbo-boost out of their line of sight and they break off pursuit. Squitoes are the only thing that can keep up with me but they are trivial to kill, I just swat them on their second pass. If I get into a pickle and risk taking big melee hits, I switch to Porcupine and Shield. Then my movement speed tanks - but I can block anything. So I just choose which is best for the situation. But 95% of the time, it's the bow and zoom-zoom.
You can take down Drakes naked, Amor is irrelevant, they only care about frost resistance.

First thanks for making these videos for a game that isn't even done yet :)
I've done OK for my first run in the game, I've died by a tree and like every monster even the brute and the Trolls at least a few times :( And getting caught with 25 hp and no stamina and attempting to eat resulted in death. I know all are very lame. Yes, I have been killed just about by every monster. Which is kind of sad. However, I'm having fun. I just find when I go to get copper I tend to break two pickaxes before I get the ores, yes OK I did do a bunch of digging to expose the ore and then walked home. I mean it isn't that far it is less than a boosted sprint run :) It just seems like I never have enough of anything to level my gear and make the tools like a garden rake. OH and protect my base because man I think I had like two the forest is moving in three days. Life is starting to get scary. I know it is just scary for me. I have yet to plant carrots so I'm hoping that act will unlock the food? However, I liked this video it gave me tips that I think I already forgot shame on me. So many tips and food and more food and more food and use this not that and I get it but it is so much simpler if you just say hey use a, b, and c for foods and acknowledge that other options exist but these are the three you suggest and stop so that us noobs don't drown in details, but maybe that is just my old brain.

What I did that made mining allot easier is first I explored my entire starting islands that are connected in order to find the trader and get the belt that gives you +150 weight. It's also great since you can get allot of surtling cores via the crypts you run into. Also for repairing your pickaxe if your underneath copper and get the sheltered buff place down a workbench and u can repair your pickaxes. By the time you have found the trader you could be swimming in carrots you planted with your early bronze. If you managed to kill a troll don't make the bronze armour yet(except shield) if your just exploring in black forrest. I got lvl 3 troll armour now and yesterday mined 138 copper I placed a Portal down got enough for a bronze pickaxe grabbed all the copper I could carry home made the pickaxe used portal back and continued mining, went through portal repaired pickaxe (while sticking the copper in a chest next to portal) mined again. When the whole vein was mined I started to run it back.
I did not find this really useful. It shows that you can handle most enemies after setting axe and block skills to 100. When you one or two hit most mobs the fights are not going to be much of a challenge anyway?
I mean when you parry an attack it increases the damage by 2.5x with the bucklers for example so one/two hitting is not out of the question
I prefer to attack with a mace. This gives you a bit of range and knocks back your enemy. Allows you to take out wolves mostly without taking a hit.
yup whatever single handed weapon you prefer works just make sure you have that upgraded armor and buckler.
Useful, but video takes way too long to show this strategy actually doing anything. As a recommendation I'd say spend less time on examples, and a bit less time on explaining the minutia of the food you are using.
Isn’t it 7 hp per tick in total with that combination? Cuz minced meat sauce gives 3 per tick and rest 2 each. That makes 7, right?

I built in a medow next to a mountain. And when the mist roles in a pack of 3wolves come down from the mountain.
lol can relate. I didn’t notice his star level and proceeded to get staggered + lost half my hp at that time by blocking just 1 arrow. I had to hide behind trees and rocks and shoot it down with my bow. I was lucky there were no other mobs around.

Well... you don't wanna get hit by a ☆☆draugr even in iron armour.... which I totally skipped...
You can get the serpent scales shield directly after the elder without any bronze armor. That thing can block dat ☆☆draugr and when you're in a party, just get it 3 times and gangbang that draugr!
They could 1shot you before the update as well though in that gear
They must have updated because bronze armor SUCKS against drauger. My troll armour is maxed out and i get 40 armour points. My bone tower shiled lvl 1 has more block than a levle 3 broze buckler and i still get murdered by wolves and drauger. A single wolf bite from a no star wolf will take me down 73 hp with mince meat, deer stew and carrot soup. Im dead in two hits. Happens all the time. I have tried all the bronze armor and buckler with terrible results. Bronze armour does not reduce poison either. Justtried it out. Root armordoes though. Im usimg root armor right now. And still have issues

Bruh...you shouldn't be relying on your armor to tank for you. It's only supposed to catch the blows you don't parry. My suggestion is to get a bronze atgeir. You can out range the enemy, and hit enemies beyond the scrap piles in the dungeons. As for me, at first I brought a bronze mace, bronze buckler, bronze atgeir, finewood bow, and full bronze. However, the first thing I did after getting iron is get a banded iron shield. After getting an iron shield, it's a lot easier.

Series Idea: kill yagluth without killing bonemass or Moder
So, I just recently killed the elder and the first thing I got was a banded shield. With lvl 3 troll armor a lvl 4 mace and a banded shield, I can kinda handle 1 or 2 fulings at a time. I wonder how soon you could kill yagluth and how many bosses you can skip
I saw someone doing Valheim bosses in reverse. Yagluth first and Ekythyr at last. It was a painful grinding video

My whole opinion is that a majority of people who started with Valheim before the update are gonna hate a lot of it because of what they are used to. The devs have basically changed the way you have to play the game for the same perceived output.
People who start valheim for the first time after this update are probably going to be totally fine with it.

@@aerball Yeah the changes are pretty substantial so I understand if someone dislikes it. For a small part of us who have kept playing it's been fresh. Compared to other similar survival games Valheim is very casual in a good way and bad. To me it's perfect, I never enjoyed PvP style games where I'm dying of thirst, hunger and random people raiding.

It's always a good choice to get the best options as soon as you can. Also... if you can skip stuff and get directly to better stuff... do it! I completely skipped the iron armour and weapons.

Tower Shields are a bit iffy but if it can give you at least 70 armor I would say go for it. But remember you will lose the ability to parry and stagger the wolves.
I'd still go for the serpent scales shield.
