  • When did doing more become buying more. I sold all my high end gear, because creation comes from within. This video was taken with the Sony Rx100V.

if you work as one man band, it does not matter that much. but if you work for company or work with other peers. gears need to be constantly updated. They want all cameras to match color and profile. and they want latest gears just to keep up the standard.

Very refreshing commentary. I've been doing the same thing for my person use. Reduce gear and be happier.

Awesome Video! I️ feel like there is so much about gear, specs, and details that we forget that the majority of the big channels on UA-cam started with their phones in 480 & 720p.

Nice wee rant! But very true I find myself obsessing over gear. This is a wake up call. Stay classy 😂

Richard Allen I’m happy to hear this, I believe we all have it within us to do so much more than buy features on a new camera. Please share the video so others can be inspired to create! And subscribe for more inspirational videos

You are SO on point! I use my RX100V and my X3000 more than anything else. The video quality from the RX100V is not too far off from the A6500. I CAN say after editing all week from my A6500 and higher end Sony video cam, there is a difference. However, for UA-cam and pretty much anything web where people are watching on their cell phones...... LOL. Right on point. And, I found your video while researching....... to buy another camera! Great video.

Let me tell you why unboxing videos are so popular.
As someone who came from many various fields of art, I tell you people believe (and wants to believe) that all that is standing between them and great works are $5000 or $10,000 worth of gear. Because spending a large amount of money they believe they can fork out but not many others who can will give them an edge and they can work less hard. People are always willing to spend money first than work hard first.
It happens everywhere not just photography. Drawing, music etc. Hell people even invest in running shoes before they start running. They WANT to believe things will change for better after they buy some gears.

I'm glad you're doing what works for you. I came on this video thinking that you bought something else because you didn't like the camera. I've never saw your videos before and UA-cam probably suggested you because of your title. I was curious from the point of view of a photography hobbyist, then found out your video was about you cleaning out your closet so to speak.

The audio is fine. If you shoot inside a house, its even better obviously. I dont see the need of a mic. If people make movies? Sure, then the best kind of gear is kind of needed (or useful), but for freaking youtube? Nahhhhh.
Get off your horses people, its only youtube.

Very good video, i so agree with you but other things come into this such as competing for contracts and jobs where every ounce of quality can make the difference. But I still shoot regularly on my 5d mark 1. I just did a portrait shoot on it and the images are better than my mark iiii in my opinion. So yeah who needs it.
