They could have made the bottom portion a rotation lit and make the battery easily removable. So you could replace the battery as easy as you can with a flashlight
Yeah and they could still make money from the freaking screw on battery modules. I really don’t see Apple changing their products to be more repairable since they have no financial incentive to do so. It took and entire European Union 🇪🇺 to get Apple to stop with their proprietary cables and finally adopt the current USB-C standard that will hopefully maintain some longevity like HDMI.
I love Apple products and all but… BUT there should be a world-wide Law the would force Apple to make products if not 100% reparable at least 100% battery replaceable!

Apple doesn't design Airpods to be repairable. Look at what you have to go through to replace the battery. How much glue do you need to keep that battery in place?!
my takeaways after my first repair: 1. if you don't have those specific pliers to pull out the battery you can either pull the tab of the other terminal or if it breaks solder a wire onto the top of the battery and then pull out; 2. careful with the air reflow stations as they produce 100* only at a certain distance. Got too close to mine and melted it a bit :D

they could have done this with a pressure sleeve to put it together. don't need to glue that thing together. just hold and pull hard and it comes of with the sleeve and just replace the sleeve and that's it.

It’s shameful how no thought by Apple was made here for easier. The bottom could be screw on/screw off even if locked with some glue, and a small connector for the battery. I can solder, and have the equipment to get this done, but only because I’m involved in other hobby electrics. The average person shouldn’t need to solder to change a battery.
