Any tips ? I'm breaking my head trying to figure out my problem. My convertible top opened up just fine but lags when trying to close. When trying to close it would close about halfway up and just stop while still trying to press button to continue closing only relay sound happens but no action on closing. Then after a few attempts of pressing button to close same thing over and over happens. Only makes it about half way . Ps I changed button switch , replaced motor , filled with hydraulic fluid not dexron , and put on some used hydraulic cylinders from junk yard.
@@40mmcomboplatter I would unplug the 2 pin connector from the motor. Then using another 12V battery. Like maybe from your riding lawnmower. Or a spare battery. Jet ski? Boat? Or just use a set of long cables. But apply power and ground directly to the 2 wires coming out of the motor. See if the top runs. Then disconnect the 2 wires. Reverse the connection to your spare battery. And see how the top runs. It should run reverse. This will directly power the motor. If everything behaves normally. Your issue is something in the wiring of the car. If it doesn’t behave normally. Your issue is motor or pump or hydraulic system related It also could be that you are low on fluid. It sounds like it’s pumping air. Is the motor running while the top is just stuck? If it’s running and the motor isn’t moving. And it doesn’t sound like it’s struggling or whining or groaning. Try adding some more fluid. You could just be low.
No the e brake ground is for the relays. Not for the motor. If you need a new motor power source. I would grab off of the battery. Or a known good fuse in the fuse panel.
Thanks for the video.. In the process of restoring a 2000. Hope this helps me.
