Phenomenal. Never seen anything like it. David makes it look natural. The capo changes were amazing but I was blown away when he dumped the capo and then down tuned to open D! All while playing the harp, pickin guitar and never missed a beat.
And that '34 Epiphone Olympic guitar!!! What an amazing tone!!! No wonder at all why he's rarely seen playing anything else. Great find!!! If you haven't read up on the story of Mr. Rawlings' guitar, check it out.
Has anyone figured out why they don't do the "standing there in the morning mist" verse live? I think it's one of the best verses of the song with it's vivid imagery and gut punching line at the end.
It's pointless, really, to even try to attempt comparisons of different stellar artists from different eras. But nonetheless .. Gillian somehow reminds me of a mix of 2 of the very-best of past great female artists in this genre .. Joni Mitchell + Emmylou Harris. Fantastic !!
