I remember when i used to play MvC2 at the arcade (around 14) and spent hundreds of quarters mostly because a person would pick top tier characters and use infinites. I refuse to quit the game and manage to beat a guy with BBHood, Ruby, and gambit. It was satisfying. Point: just because someone destroys you doesn’t mean you should quit. You’ll get better and be happy you aren’t losing your allowance 😅
Yo, I have kinda the same story. I was a kid around 12-13 and was playing MVC2 by myself and there were 3 other machines but this guy decided to play against me. And I beat him. He told me I lost and that my turn was over, like he was trying to get me to leave. His friends came and watched and it was literally me vs the computers and he wasn’t even playing. Eventually I left and they all left after. It was weird like they all could’ve just played on the other machines. But hey, it’s a memory that I’ll never forget beating a much older guy at MVC2. 😂
That one-and-done shit is wack. I play dominoes and billiards/pool....when someone wins one game and runs, that's the sign of a coward....I wouldn't want to be friends with them, they'll probably run from danger and leave you hanging when something bad really happens. Or when someone gets beat so badly and starts to complain, cry, rage quit, and whine, that's the sign of a sore loser....stay away from them, they can't handle defeat gracefully and they may turn against you/try to harm you. I only respect those that handle victory/defeat humbly, confident but not arrogant, and can go the distance in a series of matches, best 4 out of 7, first to 10, and so forth. Playing these games (whether it's videogames, dominoes, billiards) can reveal a lot about someone's inner character.

The mid tier setplay with the Guile/Nash/Iceman guy was legit some of the best Marvel I've seen. Always felt like neither of you guys were ever out of any of the games.
I think the thing I’ve noticed over the years with assorted competitive hobbies is that the people who play the meta are always the villains. If nothing else, I adore the people going against the grain and doing something weird and different.
Hopefully what we finally see from this younger and new generation of MVC2 crowd are more variety of teams, people looking to have fun and surprise people and not jump on bandwagons.
We have to blame Capcom, though. It's insanely imbalanced. God-tier are bull sh**. Way too powerful, relative to the rest of the cast, so it's just not a fair match to play against them _unless_ you counter pick with other god/top tier. I enjoy playing mid myself, but I don't blame people who don't. Why get bullied, when you don't have to? Capcom's fault.

Fun fact: with 52 characters, 3 characters per team, and 3 separate assists to choose for each character, there are 4.7 million team combinations. Square it to account for both players, and there are 22.48 trillion different combinations of characters and assists that can be used in a match. If 10 completely unique games of MVC2 were played every single second since the release of the game 24 years ago, only around 7 billion unique games would have been played, less than a percent of the total number of unique games. So in a technical sense, this game does have unlimited potential. Were it not for the top tiers really. Edit: I made an error: You can’t choose the same character again, so in fact, there’s only 4.49 million unique team combinations, and 20 trillion different match combinations.

My main team was Jill, Jin and Cyclops, but in the end I used Jill, Cable and Cyclops.

This is the MvC2 version of KBR's big bodied team UMvC3, just replace Haggar and "Dat Mango Sentinel" w/ Colossus and Juggernaut.
