One of those times when you need to have at least three or four hands huh Frank ! 😊 If that seems to happen often, I would say it's a flaw ! Surely there's a better way they could have done that ! Thanks for sharing and take. 👍
That’s what I used to do when I went to visit the in-laws... fix stuff. I enjoyed the visits and we never crossed swords. That’s a simple fix when you know how it works. Thanks Frank.
The coupling there seems to have been made using sintered (powdered) metal and likely not heat treated, I wonder if it was designed to be the failure point in the front drive train? What else is there that would break/fail first? It's probably not worth the time to machine a replacement piece out of solid steel and then heat treat it. Any thoughts?
I got two little BX kubotas, made a little different than that one but the front drive shafts and the rear drive shafts are the weak points. Otherwise their pretty good machines.
I'm having a heck of a Time with a RTV 500 Kubota trying to get the drive shaft out not sure if I have to go into the gearbox front and back or not any input man would greatly appreciate it
@@Digginok I got her out. Been a min since I stared at something that long feelin like a dummy. Boots an spiders. A shifter must of rattled their teeth hard on that hit. If I tie a string on both ends I could shoot an arrow with that bent shaft
how many hours are on your tractor??, im looking at buying one which is a 2012 year build, same model. It has 1800 hours on it and the dealer says the 4wd does not work
@@Digginok I went and views the tractor yesterday the drive shaft was missing, the spline output shaft from the transfer case was missing. They are trying to tell me I need to split the case to reinstall the drive shaft to the front, from the video you showed, both splines are visible
"Fix it" Frank at it again. No mechanics are gonna make anything with him around, lol. (Only way to stay in business!) Do you farm or raise any animals?
I like this guy. He doesn’t over complicate shit and he uses a big hammer. Thx for the vid man
Couldn’t find my small hammer.
Nice fix! I bet that's a pretty common problem! Thanks for the video!
Thanks, yeah I think it happens to all of them at some point. Thanks for watching!
I'm bought old b7100 non-HST about same problem. No idea how to fix. Trying to get money back.. Enjoy your vids
Thanks for the video. Helpme to find my problem really quick

Yes always need another hand, the repair is a cheap easy fix, so it's not a deal breaker in my book.

Thanks Frank.
Definitely helps keep me out of trouble!

I think it could be like a safety fuse, would not want to make something else break. The couplers are around $25.
You should put grease on the splines. If not the splines will fret and fail. Or go they get oil to them?
Probably wouldn't hurt to grease them, they are dry.
good show the tube had me boggled early on... thanks
thanks for making this video much appreciated
Where the coupling sized on that one where they wouldnt move?
Thanks. I haven't seen that issue on a L3240. Yet! But a spindle tower, yes.
I’d say it will happen eventually, the good news is it’s a cheap and easy fix. Drive couplers were around 25$ each.
Good to know! I'm gonna check my M59 next time I'm under it to see if it's the same. Thanks
Good news is it's a cheap easy fix, about $50.

It's a cheap easy fix though.
Thank you! Very helpful.
Thanks for the help. Fixed mine today!
can you give me the part # for the replacement spline inside of the drive couplers for the L5470
Your dealer has the numbers, sorry I don’t have the books
Hi what are the symptoms of this part being worn out besides the wheels not being driven?
As far as I can tell you won’t have front wheel drive is the biggest symptom. Not sure what other symptoms would be
I'm having a heck of a Time with a RTV 500 Kubota trying to get the drive shaft out not sure if I have to go into the gearbox front and back or not any input man would greatly appreciate it
I don’t know on that model, some have to remove the bearing carrier plate. You should probably try to find a service manual. Sorry

I think it’s about the same as 16-1700

Where did you get the coupling? Cant find it anywhere mine is 16 spline
well I went to the Kubota dealership.
I welded the stump jumper back on the shaft of an old mower. It was so worn out and the guy wanted the cheapest thing I could do!
Customer is always right!
Tim Ebert very true!
I guess nothing lasts forever. For some reason I hadn't thought Kubotas would be something you were real familiar with. Not sure why.
Yeah it’s a fairly cheap fix, $50 for both couplers. My father in law bought his first kubota around 2001 I think.
Nooice! 😎 STOC
That way they do not need to put u-joints on the shafts or make room for them.
Yep, works pretty well, $50 for both couplers and a fairly easy fix.

LOL, yeah we have some cows and my daughter raises boer goats for show.
Boy you got big fat fingers with some battle scars hard to get them in tight places i bet.
M95s four wheel drive apart
